Chapter 83 Eighty three

Chapter 83 Eighty three
Luna PoV

“Do you know about the rebellion?” She asked slowly and I could see that she was tense, she was risking so much by even speaking to me and I nodded, everyone knew about the rebellion, the witches were loosing. “I am apart of it Luna, we have been looking for you since your mother died, we know what you are and we know what the tyrant Isambard will do to you if he finds out.”

“How?” I whispered, how did she know so much, and why was she avoiding my questions? “How do you know all this?”

“Your mother was one of us, she tried to reach us when things went wrong, but failed. We couldn’t get there in time and her partner was killed, the man we placed with her to keep you both safe.” She rushed to explain, the commotion outside the room increasing. “We don’t have much time, I need you to trust me, if you want to get away you have to do it now, the witches here and rebelling under our leader Saline’s command. Saline is your aunt Luna, please believe me. We will not get another chance to free you.”

I frowned, I had an aunt? Why didn’t my mother ever tell me? Why now?

“Look, I know this is a lot, but our window of opportunity is closing fast, if you stay here Elizabeth Phantomhive will go to the vampire king with your father and turn you over. Do you understand what that means? Do you know what they will do?”

I nodded, words seeming to be difficult to form, it was all so much to take, but I knew she wouldn’t know all this if she was lying, no one knew about Berus and my mum, it had even been kept from me for years. If King Isambard found out what I was, why I could do, I would be dead before I could even blink in response. I may not trust the plump witch, but if she could get me out of this place, I had to go with her, I had to try.

“Ok.” I whispered, jumping from the bed and reaching for her hand. “But like you said, time is running out. We have to go.”

She took my hands and gave me a wide reassuring smile, silently telling me that I had made the right choice, and I hoped that I had. If we fail to get out Silas would kill them all and hand me over to the king wrapped in a gift ribbon, I was expendable to them. We rushed towards the door and the plump witch threw it open, pulling me into the hall, the massacre not what I had expected. Witches littered the hall, some injured or dead and others covered in blood that clearly wasn’t their own, but the shocking part was that the floor was also covered in the decapitated bodies or the undead, even vampires couldn’t live without a brain, and the head scattered around told me that their was no way they would be waking up anytime soon.

The plump woman motioned for the witches that were left to help each other and began pulling me down the corridor, we were surrounded on all sides by our kind, each of us fighting to get out, doing all we could for the promise of a better life. I never expected to be a part of a rebellion, I never expected to be saved. But as we jumped through a portal that some of the dark witches had summoned I smiled. I would now live with people that cared about me, that wouldn’t use me for my blood or power. That would love me for who I was.

We would take down the vampires together, kill Isambard and all the rest, Silas would no longer be my master, but the brand he gave me would serve as a reminder of what I couldn’t go back to; of what I was fighting for.

We stepped out of the portal into a vast wilderness and my smile grew, the sun high above me as we walked to a tall slender woman who stood not far away, she looked exactly like my mother, her eyes, her hair, her cheek bones. She was beautiful and I ran towards her, throwing my arms around her neck as I sobbed. Happiness swimming through me, this was only the beginning, I knew that. There was still so much that needed to be done, we had to fight for a place in this world, but together, I knew that we could, I knew that as long as we stuck together, we would have a chance. We could win.

The woman who caught my embrace laughed as she wrapped her arms around me, gently squeezing me. “My dearest Luna, we have been waiting for you. Welcome to you know home.” She beamed.

Then everyone cheered, the thousands of witches and Warlocks around me bursting with excitement and sparks of power bounced around, warming me in a way I hadn’t known since my mother was murdered.

This was it.

Home.
