Chapter 7 - Delanie
Chapter 7 - Delanie
Delaine's P.O.V.
I look around at all the other bunnies who have found their mates and feel a ping of jealousy. Why can't my mate be here too? I'm a doctor like Anya, and we're the same age. If she leaves the bunnies, I'll be the oldest, which makes me feel even older. I pull my golden-brown hair into a ponytail and begin helping the others clean up.
Like most of the bunnies, I don't have the best background, but at least I wasn't abused. My parents and all my siblings were killed when I was six. I was taken in by a biker gang of black bears. The leader, Don, treated me like his daughter. He'd lost his mate a few years earlier, and all he had were sons. He always said his mate had wanted a little girl. I didn't care that they were all criminals because I just wanted to feel like I belonged somewhere.
One of Don's sons went rogue and wanted to get into sex trafficking and drugs. The gang was into some bad things, but nothing like that. When Don refused, his son killed him. That son was Bram. I don't know his real name, but he wanted to be called Bram because he admired Bram Stoker's horror movies. He gave me the creeps.
Even when I was young, Bram would try to touch me. His dad always made him leave me alone, but he wouldn't stop. After he killed his dad when I was fifteen, he tried to force me to mate with him. I refused and attempted to run away, but he and his men captured me. He tied me up and tried to force his penis into my mouth. It backfired, though. The one thing that no one knew about me, not even Don, was that I wasn't just a bunny. I'm part witch.
When Bram's penis was almost touching me, I looked him in the eye and smirked. I said a quick spell that released me from the chains. When he tried to tackle me, I said another spell that made his penis feel like it was on fire. I quickly left while he rolled around on the floor, screaming. I connected with the bunnies just a few weeks after I left.
Anya and I both went to school to be doctors at the encouragement of our leader, Gillian. She was a sweet woman with a don't fuck with me attitude if anyone messed with her or any of us. She wanted us all to have a skill besides just being a bunny. She was a doctor and helped each of us get into medical school or nursing school. We all love helping others, and we have skills that are always needed.
About a year ago, Bram found me and asked for our help. Some of his men had been poisoned, or so he said. He wanted us to help them. Some of the bunnies were going to go, but I stopped them. I didn't care if it was true. Any man in his gang was bad news, and I was not going to put anyone in his clutches. He was so mad he threatened to kill me until I reminded him what happened last time. I haven't heard from him again, but I doubt he'll stay away forever.
I look around at the men standing in the room and wish I could pick up my mate's scent, but I don't. I take the bag of trash and head outside to toss it in the can I saw when we came. I stay outside for a few minutes, breathing in the fresh air. I look around when I catch the scent of something that makes my pulse race.
A man is coming out of the forest near the house. He's tall and muscular, like most shifters. He's only wearing ripped jeans and a black muscle shirt. His dark brown hair is wavy and shoulder-length. I can't move as I stare at him. Is he my mate? When he stops in front of me, my hands itch to run over his muscles.
"I take it you're a bunny?" His voice almost causes my legs to give out. Damn it, Delaine, you were raised in a biker gang, and you're in a biker gang now. Stop acting like a young girl with a crush. Why can't bunnies growl? I need to growl right now so I can feel fierce.
"I take it you're a misfit." Haha, yeah, I got that out with a straight face. See, I can speak without sounding like a blubbering bunny. He cocks his head to the side and crosses his arms, looking me over from head to toe.
"Yes, I am. I was out looking for the men who attacked us, but they got away. Are we going to keep pretending that we don't know we're mates? I don't know about you, but I've been waiting for my mate for a long time. I'm Alan." He holds his hand out to me, and I take it slowly. The sparks are instant, but we're not surprised; we already knew they would be there. I look into his dark green eyes and try not to smile.
"I'm Delaine. I've been waiting for my mate too. What are you?" Alan pulls me so I'm standing so close I can feel the heat from his body.
"I'm a kitsune, basically a fox with some magical powers." He keeps his eyes on mine as he puts his hand on my waist and slides it around to my back, pulling me against him. I should shove him off, but damn, I don't want to.
"Interesting. I'm a bunny, but I'm also part witch." Alan's hand stops on my backside, and he smiles. Should I keep allowing him to touch me like this? No. Do you see me stopping him? Also, no.
"I imagine we can make some pretty hot magic together." He tries to kiss me, but I lean back.
"Have you made magic with anyone else?" I ask. He puts his other hand on my bottom and pulls me off the ground, so I have to wrap my arms and legs around him.
"If I had, would you be jealous?" I don't like feeling like I have no control over my body as I hold onto him and he slides me down to feel his erection. We met about two minutes ago, but I already want to see what's behind door number one. I have a feeling it's something big and dangerous.
"I'm not jealous. I'd just go out and get some experience myself before accepting you. So, who else has ridden your magic wand?" Alan almost drops me, and I chuckle as I hold on tight.
"Hell, no, you're not letting any other man touch you. I haven't been with any women, I swear." I look into his eyes, and he looks mortified. Okay, I believe him. I put my hands into his hair, pull his face to mine, and kiss him hard, sliding my tongue into his surprised mouth. He moans and leans against a tree. I guess someone has weak knees. When I pull back, I make him put me down while he stands there in shock.
"Don't underestimate the power of a bunny. We're not all hippity hop and cotton tails." I try to walk away, but he grabs my hand, spins me around, and pins me against the tree. He plasters his body against mine so I can feel his erection pressing against me.
"Don't underestimate the power of my magic wand. I guarantee it will make this little bunny scream over and over again." Holy fuck. Can he show me now? Don't judge me. I'm a twenty-five-year-old virgin. If I want to ride a magic wand, it's my right.
Before I can say anything, we hear someone coming up the driveway. Alan turns around, and I move to stand next to him. I expect him to try to push me behind him like some macho man, but he doesn't, which makes me like him even more. The man on the bike jumps off, and Alan grabs my hand as we walk over.
"Did you see anything, Dale?" Alan asks.
"Not the people that attacked us, but two men are sitting on the side of the road, who I believe are getting ready to do something. I'm not sure what their plan is, but they smell human." Dale looks at me and smiles.
"Don't look at her like that; she's my mate," Alan says, tightening his hold on my hand.
"Damn, can one of your bunny sisters be my mate? If they look anything like you, I'd be a happy, happy man." I smirk and mindlink the others to come outside. The men come out, too.
"Hey, Lindy. I think your trouble came to find you," I say, looking at her. She walks toward me, with Dayan following behind her. If he weren't a giant lion, I would tell him he's already a well-trained little kitty.
"Excellent. This is exactly what I was hoping for. You know I don't like to leave messes where they can be found." She says with a smirk.
"What's going on?" Alan asks me.
"Don't worry, we got this. You guys stay out of the way. This is our fight. Watch and learn." I can see he wants to argue, but I keep staring, and he raises his hands up, stepping back with the other men. All of us bunnies wait together. I see Leah glancing at Dale, who is staring at her in surprise. It looks like he may have gotten his wish and mated with a bunny.
We all hear a stick snap and wait. Adam and the man with him aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, that's for sure. We would have heard them coming even if we were in the house. When they peek out of the trees and see all of us, they walk out.
"We weren't expecting a welcome party, but now that you're all here, we can get this over with," Adam says as he and the other man reach behind them and pull out guns. I look at Lindy, and she smiles before replying to him.
"You're right. We're going to get this over with. Bring it on, shit for brains."
