Chapter Thirteen
Serena's Pov
I was standing right on the balcony, staring at the sky and people as they moved around. It was a nice feeling knowing that we were having smooth discussions with these prominent people.
Well, I hope that things keep going this well, and I'm certain that in the future, Adrien’s company will be a really big one, and I will be back to being a big shot when it comes to business.
“Hey, Serena.” I heard a male voice call my attention and I turned to look in that direction.
“Oh! "It's you.” I said as I realized it was Simon and the lady who Adrien and I met at the restaurant yesterday.
But I wondered why both of them were together. Did they perhaps know each other so well, or was it just coincidence?
“I had no idea that you both were one of the people we were going to meet today. "Did you both perhaps know this before you met us?” I asked, out of burning curiosity.
“Uhm… Well, that's classified. The main thing is that you met us, and it's really nice to see you both. "I look forward to working with you,” Simon uttered, and I smiled.
“By the way, in case you're wondering, Simon and I are siblings. "I'm Eunice.” The lady revealed, and introduced herself properly.
“Oh, my God. I had no idea. Wow. "That's… that's wonderful.” I voiced out, feeling really surprised.
This was the second surprise they have given me since we met.
“Yeah. "We own the same company, but have different duties, so that's us,” Simon said with a smile.
“Oh, I see. Nice. "It's really nice to meet you,” I said to them as I extended a handshake.
They joined me to lean on the balcony, and we began to talk about different things regarding Paris and other countries they've visited. Although I didn't have much to say about countries, they didn't make me feel weird about it and I had also switched to other terms that I was really familiar with and could make a lot of contributions to.
After a while of chatting, Adrien approached us and greeted the siblings once again before we had to leave.
When we left the meeting area, Adrien held my hand.
“Today was a fruitful one.”
“I know, right?” I chuckled.
“So, regarding the date that I talked about, I was hoping that we could extend the day.”
“But…” I said, waiting for him to complete his sentence, knowing that he was about to postpone it.
“But it can't be today anymore. "I've got a lot of work on my table and I have to take care of them in no time,” Adrien explained to me.
“Yeah, it's… it's fine. I understand.”
“So, tomorrow we should be able to go on that date,” Adrien said with a smile and I nodded in approval.
We both headed back to our rooms, but I didn't find any interest in just sitting and doing absolutely nothing, so I decided to go to the lounge again.
At least, I can keep myself occupied just like other times except that I don't have to find someone to accompany me. I could enjoy myself all alone.
I exited my room and went down to the lounge and walked to the bar stand.
“Please give me any nice cocktail you have,” I requested, and sat on the bar stool.
“Alright, miss.” The bartender said, and served me a glass.
“Thank you.” I appreciated him.
I sipped the cocktail as I began to go through my phone again, and my eyes widened in surprise.
“Wow. "Tastes nice.” I said in surprise.
I gulped it down all at once and asked the bartender to refill it for me. Such a cocktail was so good that I wished I could just ask the bartender to bring a whole bottle of it and allow me to drink from it, but that would be embarrassing.
I chuckled as I continued having my constant sips while watching funny videos, and I was really having a nice time.
Gradually, my head began to feel a little light and the music around dimmed a little, yet I still asked for one more glass of cocktail.
“Hello pretty. "Why are you all alone drinking? "I'm sure you need someone to accompany you.” A man from nowhere said to me, but I was too tired to give him a response.
I just kept on sipping my cocktail and chatting and watching videos.
“I'm Brandon. I would not have bothered coming over to speak to you, but you look too gorgeous to be ignored. Mind if we have a conversation? "I'm literally pleading for it,” the man said with a smile.
I looked at him and sighed.
“Just go away. I want to be alone,” I uttered, not desiring to have one more word with him.
He was disturbing my peace and also, I didn't want a situation whereby Adrien was going to come over and then see him speaking with me. There would be no explanation for this man because he was obviously flirting with me.
Then he moved closer to me and hung his arm around me.
“Or did you want me to move closer to you so you can take a look at how hot I am? Well, here I am. "Having any second thoughts if we should hang around?” the man asked with a flirtatious smile that disgusted me.
I pushed him away with every bit of strength left in me and rose to my feet, then I gulped down the rest of the cocktail I had.
It was time I went back to my room and had a nice sleep or this annoying man was going to keep disturbing me.
“Hey pretty! "Come on, it's going to be a loss if you turn me away.” He voiced out, but I ignored him.
I left the lounge and began to head back to my room, but while I was walking, I had to pass through a few quiet places which I wasn't comfortable with since I was feeling a little lightheaded.
Hopefully, I won't attract anyone else like that stubborn man in the lounge. He was lucky that Adrien didn't appear when he was trying to get along with me.
He would have thrown a punch and that would be none of my business.
Suddenly, someone grabbed me and covered my mouth. I tried screaming, but it only came out as muffles.
Then I felt something sharp pierce my neck and more like it released a hot liquid substance inside of me.
