The Full Moon Ritual

The Full Moon Ritual
Elara's POV

The silver light from the Luna Stone was burning through my whole body like fire, and I couldn't stop screaming.
"Elara!" Alaric's words sounded far away, but I could feel his hands on my shoulders, trying to keep me steady. "Stay with me!"
The power from the crushed stone was racing through my blood, breaking the spell piece by piece. It felt like someone was tearing my insides apart and putting them back together. My bones were changing, my muscles were getting stronger, and my mind was filled up with memories I'd never had before.
I saw flashes of a beautiful woman with silver hair and shining eyes - my real mother, Luna Seraphina. I watched her fighting dark witches to protect harmless people. I felt her love for me even as she was dying. All the lies I'd been told my whole life were falling away like old paper.
"The ritual circle!" the young witch yelled over the chaos. "We need to get her to the sacred grove before the full moon reaches its peak, or the power will consume her!"
Kaiden emerged beside us, his face white with worry. "I'll carry her," he said, reaching for me.
"Don't touch her!" Alaric growled, his eyes flashing silver. "The power is too unstable. You could both die."
But I could barely hear them anymore. The Luna Stone's magic was showing me things I needed to know. I saw the truth about the curse - it wasn't just hiding my skills. It was also related to something much worse.
The dark witches hadn't just wanted to hide me. They'd been eating off my power all these years, using the curse like a straw to suck away my strength. Every time I'd felt weak or sad, they'd been taking pieces of my soul.
"They're still connected to me," I gasped, finally able to speak. "The witches... they can feel what's happening. They're coming."
Sure enough, I could hear voices in the distance. Sabrina's group was getting closer, and they sounded angry.
"How much time do we have?" Alaric asked the young witch.
She looked up at the moon, which was almost directly overhead. "Maybe twenty minutes before the moon is at its strongest. If we don't finish the ritual by then, the curse will snap back into place. But this time, it'll be permanent. She'll never get another chance to break free."
My heart sank. Twenty minutes to get to the holy grove, set up the ritual circle, and break a curse that had been on me for twenty-one years. It seemed impossible.
"There's something else," I said, trying to stand up. The power was still burning through me, but I was getting better at controlling it. "I can feel other people linked to the curse. There are more like me."
"What do you mean?" Kaiden asked.
"Other children who were stolen from their homes and cursed. The witches have been doing this for years, taking strong bloodlines and hiding them. If I break my curse tonight, I might be able to free them too."
Alaric's jaw stiffened. "How many?"
"I don't know. Maybe dozens. They're spread all over the world, living as servants or slaves, never knowing who they really are."
"Then we have to try," he said strongly. "Even if it's dangerous."
We started running toward the holy grove, but the forest seemed to be fighting against us. Branches reached out to grab our clothes, roots tried to trip us, and the path kept changing directions. The dark magic was trying to slow us down.
"This way!" the young witch called, leading us down a narrow trail I'd never seen before.
As we ran, I could feel my powers getting stronger with each step. My senses were so sharp now that I could hear every heartbeat, smell every flower, and feel the emotions of every living thing around us. It was overwhelming, but also amazing.
When we finally reached the sacred grove, I gasped. It was a perfect circle of ancient trees with silver bark that glowed in the moonlight. In the center was a flat stone covered with symbols I somehow knew how to read.
"The altar of the Moon Goddess," Alaric breathed. "I've heard stories about this place, but I never thought it was real."
"It's real," I said, walking toward the stone. "And it's where my mother came to pray when she was pregnant with me."
The young witch started drawing symbols in the dirt around the altar while Alaric and Kaiden gathered specific herbs she told them to find. I stood in the center, feeling the moon's power flowing down into me like a river of light.
"Elara," Kaiden said softly, approaching me with a handful of silver flowers. "I know I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I want you to know that I'm proud of who you've become."
I looked at him - really looked at him - for the first time since he'd rejected me. He looked older, sadder, like he'd learned some hard lessons.
"I forgive you," I said, and I meant it. "But forgiveness doesn't mean going back to how things were."
He nodded, understanding. "I know. I just... I needed you to know that I was wrong. About everything."
"The circle is ready!" the young witch declared. "But hurry! I can hear them coming!"
Through the woods, I could see torches getting closer. Sabrina's voice was getting stronger, along with the chanting of other witches. They'd found us.
I stepped onto the altar and felt instant power surge through me. The stone was warm under my feet, and the symbols started glowing brighter.
"What do I need to do?" I asked.
"Call on your mother's spirit," the witch said. "Ask her to help you break the chains that bind you. But be careful - once you start, you can't stop. If the ritual is stopped, the backlash could kill you."
I closed my eyes and reached out with my mind, looking for any sign of my mother's presence. At first, there was nothing. Then, like a whisper in the wind, I heard her voice.
"My brave daughter," she said, and I felt tears on my face. "I've been waiting so long to speak with you."
"Mom?" I whispered.
"I'm here. I'll help you break free, just like I always wanted to."
The ritual started, and power exploded around me like lightning. The symbols on the altar blazed with silver fire, and I felt the curse begin to crack.
But then Sabrina and her witches burst into the grove, their eyes glowing with dark magic.
"Stop her!" Sabrina screamed. "Don't let her complete the ritual!"
Dark energy shot toward me, but Alaric jumped in front of it, taking the hit. He fell to the ground, not moving.
"Alaric!" I screamed, the ritual faltering.
"Don't stop!" my mother's spirit urged. "If you stop now, he dies anyway!"
But as I tried to continue, I realized something terrible. The ritual wasn't just breaking my curse - it was breaking ALL the curses the witches had ever cast. Including the one that was keeping Sabrina's true form hidden.
As her disguise fell away, I saw what she really was. Not a werewolf at all, but something much worse. Something that shouldn't exist.
"You stupid girl," she hissed, her voice changing into something inhuman. "You have no idea what you've just unleashed."
The moon reached its peak, and my choice was made for me. The ritual finished itself in a blinding flash of silver light.
When my vision cleared, I was no longer the same person. I could feel the full power of a Luna Priestess flowing through me, but I could also sense something dark rising in the distance.
Something old and hungry that had been waiting for this moment.
Something that wanted to destroy everything I'd ever cared about.
And it was coming straight for us.
