WON'T LET HER OFF
WON'T LET HER OFF
CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT
CHRIS
"Ha, that woman Diana is really good at pretending. She always had a sad look on her face everyday as she moaned about being unhappy and all of that. My brother was nice to her but she was always missing that ex boyfriend of hers. If she loved him so much, then she should never have left him. But she left him and she tried to play the victim. I have never met anyone as disgusting as that woman in my entire life," I had no idea if Dylan simply took no notice of the dark look on my face, or if he knew and he just didn't care.
I was leaning towards the second option. Dylan just wanted to make me mad because he didn't stop there. He actually kept on talking.
"My brother was so pitiful, he was always trying to please a woman who made it clear that she would never have any good feelings for him in this life. She was nothing more than a shameless slut and I can't stand her at all," he kept going on and on.
"You may think these she loves you now, but she's just trying to reel you in. She did the same thing to my brother. Made him believe that he loved her by leaving her ex boyfriend, and now she's doing the same to you. She's threatening me and my mother fit your sake, making you believe that she's devoted to you, but she's going to leave you hanging as soon as she finds someone better than you. Oh right, I heard that her former boyfriend was poor, so it's all about the money for her!" Dylan revealed a cruel smirk on his face as he said this.
I was really unable to stand this bastard anymore, and my eyes were red with anger that I was struggling to hold back.
Did he know the relationship Diana and I had in the past? And that was why he was trying to use it to annoy me?
Dylan laughed sarcastically, "What? Are you mad? But I am just telling you the truth. That bitch Diana ...."
Unable to stand the idiot anymore, I picked him up and punched him hard on the face.
Dylan looked at me in shock, and he was too stunned to curse at me.
Before he could say anything else to me, I flung him away, creating a disturbance in the cafe.
But I didn't care, this bastard definitely deserved something like this.
"You had better stop talking about Diana from now on, or else , I am not going to let you off!"
.....
DIANA
I lay on my bed, thinking about what had happened between Diego and I yesterday..
He had held me back when he dropped me off at the front of the hotel, and he told me he wanted to say something to me.
His eyes were filed with so much passion, and my heart was racing fast against my chest .
I knew that there was a chance that I was overthinking things, but what Amanda had said to me in the past came into my head at that time.
What if Diego....
He had pulled me into a hug, and I knew that I did not want to consider if he really had any feelings for me.
It would be too much of a burden for me to carry, and so before he could say anything else, I knew I had to find a way to get away from me.
I did just that.....rushing out a goodnight and running into the safety of the hotel room .
Thinking about it now, I wanted to hit my head against the wall so badly .
Perhaps, I should have spoken to him yesterday and made my feelings clear. Diego was nice to me, and I did not want to string him along.
He had to know I had no feelings for him. However, what if he was just being nice to me and all of these things were just in my head and me overthinking?.
I would never recover from that embarrassment, and I wondered if it was better for me to play dumb and hope he would get the hint to not confess to me.
My hotel room felt stuffy, and I felt like I was going to lose my mind staying inside here all day .
Anyway, I had no idea where Chris had gone off too, and I had already made up my mind to quit working for him as soon as we got back to the city.
Perhaps......since I was here for the second time, I could go over and go see my son one last time before I left?
Thinking about my son put me in a sober tone, and I looked up and forced back the tears that were threatening to fall.
Perhaps, I would never step foot in this city again, there was never a good thing they happened to me anytime I was here, so I should go see my son.
Maybe....I won't get a chance to return to the cemetery again.
Standing up from the bed, I took off my clothes and started preparing to get dressed and head out.
.....
Sitting by my son's grave, I did not feel the need to cry today, instead, I was just smiling.
"You know, yesterday, I managed to do one good thing for your father. It's definitely not enough to be compensation for the hurt I caused, but I guess it's something?" I spoke to the unmarked grave.
My child.... He couldn't even get a name in death!
"I will quit working for him when we get back. All of this is just too hard for me. There's no need for me to torture myself like this," I continued to mutter..
Since I had already made this decision, I felt a lot lighter, and I stood up from the ground with a soft smile on my face.
There would be better days, I was sure of it.
Turning to leave, I saw someone standing in front of me, a menacing look on his face.
It was a familiar face , and I cursed under my breath when I saw him.
Damn it, I should have known that witch Kate wouldn't just let me off easily!
