Chapter 21: Awake

Elinn My head felt like it was stuffed with cotton and my eyes felt glued shut. This seemed to be a recurring scenario that I often found myself in and I was getting quite tired of it. I had no idea how long I had been out but Master had to be coming back soon. He was supposed to give me a special gift today and I didn't want to displease him, I was already too sore and exhausted for more. Master wouldn't care though Master, all that would matter was that I was ready and willing to receive this gift from him. He had rescued me from Carter and the others, I couldn't deny him anything he asked of me. I slowly attempted to open my eyes but they felt as if weights were attached to them that I wasn't able to lift. I pleaded with my body to let me out of this cage keeping me locked up. I needed to open my eyes so that Master wouldn't have to teach me today it was supposed to be a day for him and me to share. My head became less clouded and I started to hear murmuring around me. I couldn't quite make out who was talking or what they were saying yet but I wanted to know. Was Master already here, was he mad at me for not being properly prepared? Had he just sent people to check and see if I was ready before he came to see me? I tried my best to try and hear what they were saying. "It's been four days now and she hasn't moved an inch. I promise you that she won't wake up while your gone, you need to eat man. After you eat you need to shower as well you smell like a rancid pig." The voice was vaguely familiar though I couldn't quite tell who it was. "Come on, if you don't leave of your own free will I'm going to make you leave. This isn't healthy and you have to be healthy if you want to help her when she finally wakes up. There was some scuffling around and I could hear mixed arguing before the sound of a door opening. "LEAVE ME ALONE!! SHE NEEDS ME HERE," His voice sent my heart racing and my breathing picked up. I knew who that one was and I didn't want him anywhere near me. "Wait….her heartbeat increased and her breathing has gotten so much faster. I think she's reacting to his voice, she hasn't been doing that before….she's waking up a little." I could vaguely feel someone's hands running over my arms checking IV's and other equipment connected to my body. "Let me go, she needs me, she's waking up and she needs me," He sounded so concerned even though I knew he really was just going to hurt me. I wanted him to leave, no I needed him to leave. I forced my eyes open and did my best to pull my body into a protective ball. I wasn't going to let him hurt me anymore, I couldn't take it if he hurt me again. "Elinn why are you doing that it's just us, we would never hurt you," Lies, he was lying straight through his teeth and I wouldn't listen to him. "DON'T TOUCH ME! STAY AWAY!" I screamed scrambling backward as I felt his presence approach. That's when I saw his eyes for the first time in weeks, his were sunken and I could tell he wasn't sleeping. That happened when your plaything left you and you had no way to de-stress. "STAY AWAY FROM ME I DON'T WANT TO BE HURT ANYMORE." I didn't recognize anyone else in the room and I didn't care if they touched me but he couldn't. The people who had been trying to take him out before stood frozen as he attempted to escape their arms. "Get him out of here, he is upsetting my patient and I don't care who he is she can't handle this right now." With that, the men pulled him out the door but I could still hear him calling out. "ELINN PLEASE!! I WOULD NEVER HURT YOU YOU KNOW THAT. I NEED TO KNOW YOUR OKAY, TO HOLD YOU PLEASE." I didn't even blink at his words. He was trying to trick me, he had done it before but luckily Master had saved me. "Mam, is it going to be okay if I touch you. I need to check somethings and then ask you a few questions. If you at any time feel uncomfortable I'll stop all you have to do is say the word." I had to take my eyes away from the open door to meet those of the man speaking. He was wearing a lab coat and had two female nurses standing on either side of him. I scanned his face wondering why he seemed so familiar, but I couldn't place him as one of my tormentors. I hesitantly nodded which caused a surprised look to come over all of their faces. Then as if suddenly realizing I had given them permission they rushed to work checking wires and outputs. I wasn't paying attention to them I was too focussed watching the door to make sure no one who had hurt me was coming to get me again. "Elinn, when was the last time that you had something to eat?" "Five days ago Master gave me a grape, it was very nice of him." Once again the sound of my voice seemed to startle them. "Elinn can you tell me what you've been through during your….absence." One of the nurses asked me writing things down on a clipboard she grabbed from atop one of the many machines around me. "I was with Master after he rescued me from here. He made sure that I was well taken care of and remembered what I had been taught before." I told her growing tired and I started to lye down. I had been wide awake two seconds ago and now I was exhausted but I couldn't figure out why. As my eyes began to slip I heard the door open but I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Again the murmuring of voice distracted me from my thoughts of peace, though this time I only heard some of what they were saying. "While she was…..he must have…..it isn't her fault…..is going to be difficult…..have to figure out who….let us touch her….tricked her brain…." With the deep voice of the doctor in the background, I tumbled into sleep
