Chapter 121: Brainwashed
Carter I sat in the car cradling Elinn's body against my body. Her body was wrapped in a large blanket and I couldn't do anything but stare down at her. She had been gone for so long that I had forgotten exactly how beautiful she was. I couldn't let her gone now that she was finally back in my arms and she wasn't leaving again. "Carter the hospital is ready for us when we get back, we've only got about a half an hour left." One of the warriors called back to me from the driver's seat. I didn't care what he had to say right now, as long as Elinn was going to be okay. All I cared about right now was ensuring that Elinn was going to get better. I couldn't see her hurt anymore I couldn't watch her suffer more than she already had. My wolf was clawing at me trying to get me to look at her really look at her. He see if she was going to make it but I was afraid that if I did then I wouldn't be able to control myself. All I could think about was how we had found her, how strange it was to see those bodies lying at her feet. While the wings and golden eyes had made her seem like a goddess her body had told a different story. It was paper thin, in some spots I could actually see her veins through her skin. Her arms and legs had been covered in blood though I had no idea if it was hers or that of her victims. The whole thing had been a very serial experience to see that broken body standing proud and tall above well muscled men who had fallen before her. Then there was the fact that Ecstan seemed to know what that thing inside of Elinn was and that it seemed to know him as well. He had called it by name and they had talked as if they were old friends instead of like two people who should have just met. It didn't make sense and I was itching to get my hands on Ecstan to ask him about it. Before we had left the mansion compound we had been informed that Aurelio hadn't been in the building when we attacked. For some unknown reason he had left just an hour before any of us would have been close enough to catch him. I had a sneaking suspicion it had to do with this Demetre character coming into the picture but I couldn't prove anything. "Carter, get ready we will be at the doors in thirty seconds." With the help of the warrior neck to me I situated Elinn carefully in my arms. It wasn't hard to move her but we were all very cautious having no idea what kind of injuries she had sustained. We didn't want to unintentionally make things much worse than what they already were. As soon as the car came to a halt I was out and rushing for the doors to the pack hospital. What seemed like a thousand other people were running for me at the same time, some doctors, some family, and some people that I didn't recognise at this exact moment. I honestly couldn't care less who they were as long as they could help Elinn. "Hurry get her on the stretcher!" "Is she okay?" "Quickly I need the I.V's we set up earlier ready to go as soon as we are through the doors." "Where is everyone else, is everyone alright?" "Get her to radiology so we can get an MRI!" "What's wrong with her? Will she be able to survive this?" The voices all blurred together in my head and I couldn't tell who was talking. I carefully laid my mates emaciated body down on the gurney as other hands reached out and began finding veins and injecting things into her. I wanted to yell at them all to stop, for none of them to touch her, but a more logical part of my brain was stopping me. They were going to fix her, they were going to help her heal so that she could come back stronger than she was before. I could hear people asking me questions about what was going on and where the others were but I didn't stop. One of the warriors who had driven me would explain what was going on to them and let them know what was going on. I followed silently behind the crowd of medical professionals who wheeled my mate through the halls of the hospital. "Carter, we are gonna get an MRI on Elinn so that we can see exactly what is going on. You are welcome to watch from where the techs are sitting while she's scanned. You can't go in with her we don't want to mess up the readings." The nurse was the first person who I could really comprehend talking to me. "Yeah that would be great, how long will it take?" I asked her saying my first words since I had gotten home. "About an hour because we are doing her torso and her legs, but it could take longer. It all depends, but I'm sure that you'll be out of here in no time at all Alpha." I nodded and slowly made my way towards the tech booth and took a seat. I all I did was stare as they placed the small body of my mate on the table that would allow them to take whatever pictures they needed of my mate. I just stared at her limp body as she laid there never moving a muscle. My mind began to wonder and all I could do was to think about what Elinn must have been through. "Alpha we are moving Elinn to her room now if you would like to join her." Again the nurses words pulled me from my spot. I mindlessly followed her, I couldn't think anymore I was just numb."
