Chapter 93 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 93 Untitled Chapter
GIANNA

Suddenly, there was a loud crash. Colton's hand loosened slightly on my hair as he cursed loudly, taking a couple of steps away from the flames and dragging me with him. My body was still trembling as I tried to free myself from his hold.

“Fuck, Benji shoot him!” he yelled. I glanced up at the same time, and there was a loud bang, from my angle I couldn't see anything.

All I saw was a long foot round kicking Colton who instantly let go of my hand and staggered back. That same man yanked me behind a broad back that suddenly seemed familiar.

“Talk to me, Gianna. Are you okay?” the man repeated his question when I didn't immediately answer the first time. My heart pounded with hope, and instant relief flooded my lungs.

“Who the fuck are…?” Colton started.

“Jax?” I yelled, surprised. My eyes widened when I saw Dane fighting with Benji. Colton's eyes widened with recognition.

“It's the prostitute,” he sneered.

“You didn't give me an answer Gianna,” Jax whispered, ignoring him. Though he keeps his eyes on him.

“I'm okay, I'm okay but…but my Aunt isn't,” I replied, voice shaky. I glanced at where she was the last time I saw her. “She was here, Jax, Colton shot her. Oh my God, where did she go?” I was starting to panic when I didn't see her.

“She's safe. Damon has her.” Jax reached out and touched my hand that was clinging to him assuringly.

“Damon?” I asked, a bit confused. He nodded.

“Yes, Damon. He's here, she will be okay.”

“She's alive? You're sure?” I'm afraid to hope, but already knowing it was true.

“Of course, I won't lie to you about this Gianna. Now, we just need to get you out of here.”

“She's not going anywhere,” Colton sneered.

“Come try and stop me, you coward. Scared to fight someone that's your size,” Jax said, his voice dark.

Colton glanced back at Dane, who was making his way to us after he scuffled with Benji, who now lay unconscious a couple of steps away. There's blood on Dane's shirt, and his right arm is bleeding.

Fear for him made me almost run to him; he was shot, his green eyes caught mine, and there was something like relief there. I blink when Colton focuses back on us, his scar contorts with his anger as he steadies his hand. I gulped nervously.

Jax was still protecting me. Colton suddenly pulled a gun out from his waist and pointed it at Jax with a smug expression as he walked closer.

We started retreating, me trying to get out of Jax's back to stop Colton from shooting him while Jax moved in time with me, still protecting me. Dane moves slowly behind him.

“You fucking idiot, you thought you were going to come here and save her. You should have stayed away from her when I gave you the chance. Now you're going to die along with her.”

“The only one dying here is you. You ugly coward,” Dane yells, trying to distract him.

“I know you're there; come over here and say that you bastard. I will fucking shoot you along with your whore and your stupid brother,” he threatened, still pointing the gun at Jax as he turned, trying to keep us all in his peripheral.

Next thing I knew was everything happened so fast I didn't have time to scream. Dane rushed him, Jax suddenly pushed me to the ground. Colton pulls the trigger, my heart drops to my stomach, and my eyes clamped shut.

Click, click, click!

“Fuck,” Colton cursed when he realized there was no bullet. Jax attacked him, kicking and punching him in the face, which sent him reeling.

Dane took over, slamming his fist in his gut until he doubled over. They took turns punching and kicking him like he was their punching bag.

At first, Colton tries to defend himself, throwing punches blindly. But he couldn't hold on for much longer as both brothers beat him into a bloody pulp. Colton lay flat on the ground, his face bloody, his nose broken. Mouth split, he was panting.

“Don't kill him, Dane; let's hand him over to the cops,” I said when Dane went to punch him again. To my surprise, Dane pulled back.

“Two pussy whipped idiots,” Colton said, cackling; he tried to get up but could barely manage it.

“You're in love with her,” he said, amazed; I glanced at both men to see their reactions, my heart pounding, but they wouldn't look at me.

“But guess what? She can't love you, and she never will. Not just because the freaky whore doesn't know how to love anyone but because she's a princess and you are whores. This should be a movie, The Princess and The Whores” he yelled, laughing maniacally.

Then he stopped and groaned, his hand holding the side of his stomach. Two fists slammed into his face, knocking him out completely. His body slumped to the ground.

“Is…” I swallow thickly. “Is he dead?”

“Fucker is just out cold,” Jax muttered. I exhaled shakily.

“What about the other idiot, is he dead?” Jax asked, moving towards Benji’s unconscious body.

“No, I just knocked him out,” replied Dane. Just then the siren started wailing. My brows pulled together.

“The police are here? That was fast.”

“We called them when we followed you back to the hotel and found your grandmother's driver on the way, but there was no sign of you,” Jax explained.

“How do you know how to find…me?” I asked what I've wanted to know since I saw them both.

“Damon, he traces your phone,” Dane replied. I nodded, there was another question I wanted to ask, but I wasn't ready for it yet.

“Come on. Let's get out of here.” I nodded and let Dane lead me out, Jax on my other side. Dane glances at his injured arm.

“Were you shot?” I asked, touching his arm gently. My brows creased.

“It's nothing. The bullet barely grazes me.”

“Didn't look like it to me.”

“I'm fine,” he muttered.

“Okay,” I said, biting my lip. Chloe, the police rush inside the warehouse with guns; Detective Nielsen walks towards me while the others arrest Colton and Benji, who are starting to wake.

“I'm glad you're alive Miss Brooks,” he said when he stopped in front of us.

“Thank you,” I said. He nodded at both Dane and Jax. I sneaked a glance at them as they nodded back; I didn't have to be a mind reader to know they didn't like him.

“Gianna!” Chloe screamed, running towards me; I ran and met her halfway. We hugged each other as she started sobbing, tears streaming down her face. I should probably have cried, only I didn't. Honestly I might probably still be in shock.

“Where’s grams and Auntie?” I asked rubbing her back.

“They're both okay; Aunt Layla was taken away by Mr Lockhart, Grams and Tessa went with them when we knew you were okay. I hugged her again as she continued crying.

Jax had driven us to the hospital, and Detective Nielsen had followed us behind in a police car so he could take our statement.

The entire way, I had stayed silent, staring at my scalded hand, which the paramedics had tended to; they'd also tended to Dane's wound.

When we arrived at the hospital, Grams and Tessa hugged me so tightly both crying. They told me Auntie was in surgery.

I didn't cry the entire time I gave Detective Nielsen my statement; I didn't cry while we sat there waiting for the doctors to come out and tell us how the surgery went.

I didn't say a single word as Grams, Tessa, and Chloe gave their statements. I didn't cry when Dane, Jax, and Damon recounted how they found Frank's body on the road and how they traced my number and saved us all.

Until the doctors finally came out hours later and told us that the surgery was successful and that Aunt Layla would live.

That's when the dam broke, and I burst into tears, sobbing in utter relief; I cried my heart out. I cried so much that my stomach cramps as nausea so strong hit me.

I turned my head and wretched, vomiting right there outside the emergency ward.
Dane was suddenly there, scooping me up and taking me into a bathroom.

Fortunately, there was no one inside. He held my hair and rubbed my back as my stomach twisted and churned, expelling more vomit into the toilet, though there was nothing but bitter bile as I retched and gurgled for what felt like forever.

When it was finally over, he helped me to the washing basin. I splash water on my face, rinse my mouth, and lean against the counter weakly.

Dane stood silently beside me, his hand still rubbing my back soothingly. Chloe, who's watching everything silently, hands me a Kleenex; I take it and wipe my mouth.

Jax strode in with a bottle of water and Gatorade; he uncapped the water and gave it to me. I take it and swallow a mouthful.

“Drink this; it will help with the nausea,” he said, also opening the Gatorade for me. I take it and drink it. It does help. I don't feel nauseated anymore, but I wasn't close to feeling better, not by a long shot.

We all made our way back to the ward where Grams and Tessa are, Damon is also there now.

“Thank you,” I said to him, and joined my family on the bench.

“Are you okay?” Grams asked when I hugged her.

“No.”

“It's okay to not be okay, but I promise it will get better.” I nodded. My eyes were on the two men staring at me intensely. I let my eyes close and breathe for the first time today.

It's a new day and we are all alive. That's all that matters. Grams was right, tomorrow might be better.
