Chapter 89 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 89 Untitled Chapter
GIANNA

“That is not true Colton,” I reply, shaking my head. Fighting the anger his words brought to light because this was an old argument, it's the same argument we used to have back when we were together.

“Don't blame my family, for your inferiority complex,” I said despite my fear.

“Even if they felt that way, it's because they know I deserved better, and you proved them right. I loved you, Colton. I did, and because I loved you, I was blind and deaf to all the signs. I gave you everything!

My heart, my time, and my money. You used my cars, money, and family reputation for your gain, and I never said anything because I thought we were one, and if I could help you achieve your goals, there's nothing wrong with it.” I draw a breath.

“While we were together, you never contributed anything to our relationship, except for the occasional groceries you bought and the God-awful flowers I'm obviously allergic to.

But accepted with a smile excusing your lack of care and consideration in my affairs as forgetfulness. And that it's the thought that counts; unbeknownst to me, I was encouraging your bad treatment of me.” I scoffed at the memories, the more I spoke about it the more I remember.

“You took me for granted and used me as a ladder to achieve your goals for years and you have the audacity to blame me and my family for destroying your life? If you're looking to place blame on someone, blame your dick, you ungrateful, selfish prick!”

God, that felt good!

That rant was six years long overdue, but now that I wasn't riding the anger that had propelled me into opening my big mouth. I suddenly realized I had a pissed-off Colton to contend with.

Feeding off the fear in my eyes, Colton deliberately came into my space, leaning in; I clamp my eyes shut, waiting for whatever horrible thing he would do to me.

Laughter bursts out of him, echoing in the space. It ricocheted over us as his minions joined in his maniacal laughter for the longest few minutes of my life.

The laughter, just like his ravaged face, was awful and added to my fears, making goosebumps race over my flesh.

Chloe, Tessa, and Aunt Layla, whose nose has finally stopped bleeding, look terrified, and even Grams looks scared, though it was obviously for me.

“Oh Gigi, you always were so cute and fucking gullible. It was endearing until it became boring, but I gotta admit I missed it.” He wiped the tears of his mirth from his eyes and sighed.

“How heartbroken and sad you must have felt. Poor Gianna, always searching for love and where to belong. Abandoned by her mommy and daddy” he mocked.

I felt like he'd slapped me. Throwing my insecurities at me.

“You said you love me, but that was a lie, but I guess that's only fair. Because I never loved you,” he deadpanned, he went to touch me, I turned my face away.

“Or did you think I truly loved you? That our meeting back then was a mere chance meeting? Poor Gigi, you have no fucking clue.”

The absolute mockery in his voice would have seared me if I wasn't already scared to death. But still, it hit deep.

“I fucking chose you. Me!” he shouted in my face, his spittle flying to my cheeks. My eyes were so tightly clamped shut I couldn't look at him without flinching.

He was that scary.

“It took days, weeks, and months of meticulous planning. Always watching you, studying you, knowing what you liked and didn't, keeping up with all your schedules before I set my plans in motion.” He trails a finger down the side of my face.

“Open your fucking eyes when I'm talking to you, Gigi!” he ordered, I instantly obeyed.

“Do you remember those boys back at the alley the day we met? You thought I saved you back then didn't you?” My eyes widened, I swallowed a lump.

I knew where this was going. He saw the realization in my eyes and chuckled evilly.

“What woman doesn't want a man who puts himself in danger to protect her from being mugged or probably killed? I thought it would make for a great story for our children when we told them how we met. Clever wasn't it?” he asks smugly, so proud of himself.

“I played the hero and you adored me because of it for years, only if your adoration had lasted.” He sighs heavily, getting up from his crouching position in front of me.

“Everything in my life was going smoothly according to my plans. And it would have been perfect if your tiny little brain hadn't given you the great idea of coming to my meeting place without calling me and you decided to barge in unannounced.” He starts to pace while ranting.

“We could have happily gotten married; I would have won the election, becoming the youngest mayor in Chicago. We could have been the perfect couple with our own litter of brats, living the beautiful life, if you hadn't come at the wrong-fucking-time Gigi!” he yelled, making my heart skip a beat.

His bloodshot eyes looked crazy. It made my stomach cramp so badly, I almost peed in my panties.

“You ruined everything, all my dreams and plans, my aspirations. Every God damn thing I've worked hard for so many long damn years. All gone. Poof!” He blew the tips of his fingers.

“All because of a measly fuck with a woman I don't give a fuck about and can't even remember the name of. And as if that wasn't enough. Your family couldn't leave me the hell alone.” He pointed an accusing finger on Grams.

“I was accused of espionage and charged with every illegal activity your grandmother could think of. I lost everything I had worked hard for, for over a decade in the space of a week. My house, cars, and all my assets were confiscated as evidence.”

I shake my head.

“You lie, Grams would never do that, unless of course you did all those bad things,” I spat, his hand cracked against my left cheek. I tasted blood and saw stars.

It stung so bad I wanted to rub the throbbing flesh. But there was no way I could do that with my hands still tied at the small of my back. I was trembling like a leaf when my eyes finally focused on him.

Colton had closed his eyes as though he was fighting for control. Long moments pass before he gets back his control, he inhales. I wanted to talk to defend my Grams again, but one glance at her and I knew everything he was saying was the truth.

“Don't you dare call me a liar or defend this old hag in front of me; she had no right to poke her nose in my business,” he said, going to where Grams was. I went to say something, but Grams shook her head, stopping me.

“All these years I spent in jail, this scar that has you flinching in disgust every single time, I got it there. When I got out of jail, I had nowhere to go and nothing to my name. Benji was the one who took me in. So imagine my surprise when Vera here….”

He points at the short beautiful woman who had been dancing with the tall man. Who I now recognize as Colton’s cousin Benji. I only met him once years ago so it's no surprise I didn't recognize him at first.

“....Who is Benji's fuck-buddy, ask him to talk to me about a job she has for me that would make us rich overnight. She told us she had information she stole from where she used to work. Personal information about rich women who pay huge amounts of money just to get screwed and want us to blackmail those women.”

He chuckled.

“Not once in a million years would I have thought that I would find your name among those women, Gigi. But surprise, surprise, there you were, but then, if I thought about it, you've always been freaky in the bedroom. So it shouldn't have come as a surprise to me.”

My brows pulled together as his words.

“What you are saying is you weren't the one who signed me up with NYME? And what about Dane and Jax? Why did you try to frame?” I asked unbelievably. Ignoring what he said about me.

“No, Gigi, I wish I could take the credit. Unfortunately I wasn't the one. But whoever that person was did me a solid, and if I knew who he was, I would kiss his feet for bringing you to me. To cut a long story short, with all the information in my hands, I had two days to prepare everything.

I had to personally go to the cabin and set up cameras, speakers, etc. After that, all I had to do was wait. As for those bastards, I just had to get them away from you. ”

“And now it is time. You ruin my life all of you, it's time you compensate me for everything. You Bridget,” he sneered, pointing at Grams.

“You're going to send fifty million dollars to this account,” he slapped a paper in her face. Vera, the woman who had started all this, was suddenly there holding a laptop. She drags a chair close to where Grams is and waits for Grams to give her all her details.

“Let them go, Colton. I'm the one you want. Whatever Grams did was for my sake. Just let them leave unharmed, and I will give you everything I have, please,” I begged hoarsely, my eyes blurred with tears.

“Quiet girl! If it's money, Colton knows who has more. Of course, I will give you the money,” Grams said.

“But I will need you to cut my bindings, surely you know how fruitless it is to tie up an old lady. Unless you think an old woman like me can outrun your men?” She baited and arched one of her graying brows. Colton chuckled.

“No, of course not. Though I would like to see you try,” he threatened.
