Chapter 20 — Happily Ever After (Epilogue)
Cassia:
The stars look so beautiful at this time of night. Mathias and I fly side by side, letting the wind take us. We had just come from visiting Nevaeh and Mikhail. They now live in a loft near the school, along with his brothers. After I was brought back, we found out that Nevaeh was not really pregnant. That bastard, Lukan, had actually given her a potion that made it look like she was pregnant. Another surprise that came was Nevaeh’s mother. She and Nevaeh had a talk. Sadly, her mother is dying of cancer.
She was also shocked to see Mathias after so many years. Especially considering that he still looks like he’s in his twenties. She was amazed when we explained why he was still so young. They made their peace, which made it a happy reunion. Unfortunately, Marael disappeared without a trace during the battle. Mathias isn’t too worried. But from what Nevaeh and Mikhail told me about her plans for Lukan, I feel that there is more that we don’t know.
After a few minutes, Mathias and I land on our apartment’ balcony. Yes, I said it, our apartment. After I graduated, I moved in with Mathias. He told me that he didn’t want to spend another moment without me. It was so romantic and sweet. Kissing him lightly on his bottom lip, I open the door to the balcony and gasp with surprise. Candles are lit on nearly every surface of the room, creating a warm glow. I step over the threshold, which is littered with rose petals and look back at Mathias, who is leaning on the doorway with his arms crossed. Smiling, he moves away from the doorway and kneels in front of me.
My heart speeds up with excitement. “Cassia, my mate, my love. I love you so much. When you died, I thought my world was over. Then you called my name across the room, and everything fell back into place. I had never been so happy in my life. That’s why I want to be by your side for the rest of my life.”
He reaches into his jacket and withdraws a beautiful diamond ring. Cassia…Will you marry me?” I look down at his beautiful face full of love and say. “Yes, Mathias. I will marry you.” Tears of happiness course down my cheeks as he places the ring around my finger and rises up to kiss me. I look down admiringly at my ring. “I love you, Mathias.”
It’s the start of our lives, and I would never change a thing. Who knew I’d finally find my happily ever after?
