Chapter 92: She's Back
Chapter 92: She's Back
Cattleya’s POV
The airplane has just landed, and the familiar atmosphere washes over me. I'm so glad to be back, savoring this moment to be with him—to be with Jaxon Moretti.
Two weeks ago,
"Mommy is going away for work, okay? I'll be back soon and will call you every day and night, okay, my love?" I told my twins while tears welled up in my eyes.
They nodded solemnly. Madison said, "Mommy, I'm going to miss you. Make sure to call us every day, okay?"
Then my little Matthew – Jaxon's spitting image – sighed in the corner and asked, "How many days is six months?"
"Uh," I sighed and suddenly quietly thought how many days in six months, "...maybe 181 or 182 days, but honey, please be good to your sister, okay? You're a big boy now, and you need to protect her, no matter what," I pleaded.
Matthew smiled. "Yes, Mommy. I'm a big boy, and so is Madison..." he chuckled softly.
But Madison was inconsolable as she sobbed in front of me. "I gotta go now, love," I said, "Don't give your Aunt Vianne a headache."
She hugged me tightly one last time. "I'll see you in one-hundred-and-eighty two days, Mom."
"Yes, I love you both so much," I whispered, hugging them close.
PRESENT TIME,
As I walked outside with my belongings, Vlad helped me load the luggage into the car and said, "He's on his way to the airport now. You've got this."
I smiled at him. "Yeah, just like the old times. I have to make him madly in love with me again," I chuckled nervously.
I hopped into the car, and Vlad said, "It's going to be a long journey for you, but don't be nervous. You know what to do, and you've been practicing for three years. If anything happens, you have the weapon in your luggage. You can use it if you need to."
I scoffed, "Let's see what I can do."
He drove me to the airport, where Jaxon's private jet was waiting. By the way, Vlad – the wisest man I know – had arranged for me to be a flight attendant on the flight so I could meet Jaxon and make my move.
Vlad put on his sunglasses and smiled as he stared at the jet. "It's showtime," he declared.
I walked down the aisle, a smile playing on my lips. Then, my world tilted on its axis as my eyes landed on the man I hadn't seen in three years. I gasped, catching my breath as I stared at him. He looked up from his laptop and our eyes met.
He hadn't changed a bit. He still looked the same, and the way he stared at me sent shivers down my spine. Damn, what was I doing?
I gulped nervously and greeted him with a smile, "Good afternoon, Mr. Moretti..."
He cleared his throat and greeted back, “Good afternoon.”
“It's an honor to meet you in person, Mr. Moretti. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need anything. If you'd like some wine or champagne, I'm happy to get it for you.” I forced a cheerful tone and turned my back on him. Then, I bit my lower lip and whispered to myself, “What the hell did I just do? That was so awkward…”
And then I heard him say, “I wouldn’t mind some champagne…”
Then I turned to face him with a smile on my face and said, “Champagne… it is!”
I walked towards the mini-bar at the back of the plane and grabbed one glass of champagne. I walked back to him and handed him one gently, and he smiled at me seductively. Damn, I miss that goddamn smile of his, but he doesn't remember me. Sad.
"You know," he paused, then put his glass on his table, "You look familiar... I think I've seen you somewhere..."
My eyes widened. Did he remember me already? Wow, that was too fast. "I'm pretty sure I'm not one of your chicks that you bring every night to your bedroom, sir."
He chuckled at my remark. It seemed like he was surprised that I spoke to him that way.
I glanced at his bodyguards, and they were all new. Not even a single one of them was familiar. Maybe Elise and her father had changed everything to keep their secret from Jaxon.
"You're funny," he said.
I smiled at him and returned to my seat. As I sat there, I felt his gaze upon me. It felt like he was watching my every move.
I think Jaxon was truly captivated by my moves, or maybe it was my seduction technique, because I couldn't seem to shake his gaze.
I glanced at him and caught him staring at me. He quickly looked away and opened his laptop, his forehead creased in thought.
Maybe he was trying to figure out where the hell he had seen my face before because, to him, I looked too familiar to him.
I desperately wanted to hug him, to cry in front of him, and confess everything so he could remember me. Three years had passed, but my love for him hadn't changed a bit. It was still as strong as ever.
When we finally landed, I grabbed my luggage, but he snatched it from me. My eyes widened, but I knew it was all part of the plan. My plan to be with him again and ensure that everyone would taste their own medicine!
He opened my luggage and saw the gun inside. His eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint entering his gaze. He glanced at me and gripped my arm, tightening to the point of pain. "WHO DO YOU WORK FOR?" he demanded, his voice low and menacing.
I bit my lower lip, and stared back at him, "I'll tell you," I whispered, my voice husky, "when you take me with you..."
"W-What?" His mouth hung open in surprise, clearly taken aback by my words. I guess I still had the power to leave him speechless, just as I had done from the very beginning of our story.
