Chapter 57 At The Restaurant.
“Mind joining me for dinner tonight?”
“Uhh, dinner? O—okay,” I stuttered, struggling to believe my ears.
“Alright,” he replied, closing his laptop. He picked up his phone, keys, and jacket before approaching me. “Let's go then,” he added, following closely behind.
Although his words weren’t particularly warm, I hoped that being a little closer to him might ease the tension I felt.
As we drove, I kept scrolling through my phone, seeking distraction. The thought of having a smooth conversation with him was daunting; it was something I wasn’t used to, and I didn’t want to feel awkward.
His silence left me both confused and oddly relieved.

We pulled up to a grand gate, lights flickering on and off around the enormous building.
Glancing at my surroundings, my mind drifted back to memories of Mattias and the times we shared on fancy dates. He would take me to extravagant restaurants just for a random dinner. With him, I experienced a taste of luxury I had never known before.
But now, staring at the man beside me, my heart sank. This wasn’t Mattias; it was someone else entirely. Who would have thought a day like this would come? Sigh...
As the gate guard opened the entrance for us, Mr. Kelvin drove in and parked in front of the door.
A valet stood waiting as we stepped out. I watched Mr. Kelvin hand over his key, striding inside without a glance back, completely indifferent to my presence. How arrogant of him.
I knew this wasn’t a date like the ones I had with Mattias, and I certainly didn’t expect any sort of romantic relationship. But surely, someone with manners would treat a lady better. I barely dodged the door as it swung open, feeling a mix of frustration and disappointment.
We were assigned a table because he had made a reservation while we drove here.
As we both took our seat, a waiter approached us, bowing slightly before handing over the menus.
I glanced at the options, my heart racing slightly. Mr. Kelvin was focused intently on his menu, his brow furrowed in concentration.
I couldn’t shake the anxious feeling that my choice might reflect poorly on me.
After all, he was known for his harshness, and I couldn’t help but worry that ordering something too expensive might lead to him deducting it from my salary.
Deciding to play it safe, I ordered something reasonably priced, hoping to avoid any unnecessary scrutiny.

Mattias's POV:
I pulled up in front of a elegant restaurant. The best restaurant i had seen here to far.
Although it's been two days since i arrived here in California. I could only hope to find Shimma here. I didn't want to get another failed attempt. I don't think i could handle anymore disappointments. But that didn't mean i would give up.
My friend, Dannis, sat beside me, leaning over with an eager grin.
“So, this is it?” he asked, a teasing lilt in his voice. I sighed.
“Well, Let’s hope she’s here. I sent her name across the city, they should get back to me if they find any news about her,” I said.
“You’ve tracked her through twelve countries in two months. That’s impressive, but not exactly practical,” Dannis chuckled, shaking his head.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes as I took in the scene outside. “I’d go to the moon and back just to find her,” I replied, my determination unwavering.
As I stepped out of the car, I scanned the area again.
“I just hope their food is worth my time. I have a lot of work to do,” I muttered.
“Trust me, their food is chef’s kiss,” Dannis assured.
“If you say so,” I said, handing the valet the keys before we walked inside.
SHIMMA'S POV.
I sat across from Mr. Kelvin, feelibg more unconfortable than i have ever felt in my entire life.
Why did i agree to come here, i mean, obviously i was scared tgat if i had said no, hw woukd havw gotten angry but still…..ughh
Since we had arrived, he hadn’t said a word.
He had been scrolling through his phone earlier, and now, as our meals were served, he seemed more interested in it. Why did he call me here?
The silence stretched on, and I could feel the weight of every detail—the clinking of cutlery, the soft sounds of conversations around us.
I shifted in my seat, glancing at the food before me and then back at Mr. Kelvin. He was only half-focused on his meal, his attention drifting to his phone every few moments.
I couldn’t help but feel more anxious. Maybe i should just hurry up and take my leave. Because the boringness was suffocating as hell.
Just then, the door swung open, and two men walked into the restaurant. I instinctively turned my gaze toward them, but i couldn't see their faces. Although there was this feeling of familiarity i couldn't quite shake off.
One of the men exuded confidence, his presence commanding attention, while the other seemed more relaxed.
I turned back to my table because i didn't want my stare being tok obvious. It might be disrespectful for my boss.
But i couldn't stop wondering; Why did I feel drawn to them. Especially the first one who exuded more confident reminding me of one person i am trying so hard to forget. Mattias.
