Chapter 253 Ambrose and Her, a Destined Romance
As soon as she finished speaking, tears welled up in Yara's big eyes, which looked so much like Scarlett's. Scarlett freed one hand and pulled Yara into her arms by the shoulder.
"Of course not, Mommy loves you. You and Hayden are both Mommy's treasures," Scarlett gently comforted the jealous Yara.
Before, she only loved Yara, but after finding Hayden, she loved them both equally, without favoring one over the other.
When Yara heard that Hayden was also Scarlett's treasure, she asked in confusion, "Before, only I was Mommy's treasure. Why is Hayden your treasure now too?"
Scarlett hadn't expected Yara to be so perceptive, but what should she say?
Just as she didn't know how to answer Yara, Ambrose walked over and came to her rescue.
"Your mom wants both a daughter and a son. She thinks of Hayden as her son, so she treats Hayden as her treasure too."
After hearing this, Yara asked in a sweet childlike voice, "Does Mommy miss my brother?"
Scarlett had told her that she had a twin brother, but he died, leaving only her.
Scarlett reached out and touched her head. "Yes, is that okay?"
Scarlett felt that all along, she had only loved Yara. Now with another person sharing her attention, Yara would definitely feel unbalanced, so so she felt she should ask for Yara's opinion first.
Yara's big eyes looked at Scarlett, then at Hayden.
"Don't worry, I'm just living here. I won't compete with you for Scarlett," Hayden spoke up to clear things up. Right now, he just wanted to stay, and Yara was his best friend—he'd feel guilty if she was sad.
Yara thought that since Hayden looked so much like her, Scarlett must be treating Hayden as her brother. To keep Scarlett from being sad, she'd agree.
"All right, I'll let you be another treasure of mom, but it's not because of you. It's because mom misses my brother. My brother sacrificed himself to keep me alive, and mom has been very sad. I don't want mom to be sad."
Scarlett fell silent.
Ambrose fell silent too.
Hayden didn't mind. Being Scarlett's treasure was something to be happy about—from now on, he'd be loved too.
The mother and two children hugged each other again.
Yara thought of Ambrose. From Scarlett's arms, she stared at him and said, "Ambrose, we're each other's treasures, but you don't seem to be anyone's treasure!"
Ambrose frowned and deliberately asked her, "I'm not your treasure?"
"Mommy is my treasure, and you're Hayden's treasure!" Yara said.
"No way, my treasure is Scarlett," Hayden chimed in.
Ambrose felt like he'd been hit hard. He was all alone now, no match for the three of them.
Hearing this, Scarlett finally laughed. It was time to let him feel what it was like to be left out.
"From now on, the three of us will live together," Scarlett said.
The two little ones were thrilled, but Ambrose felt even worse. Was she telling him he couldn't stay here anymore?
He didn't dare ask more questions and could only watch helplessly as the mother and children hugged together.
Ambrose was also very busy. After settling the mother and children in the afternoon, he went to the company and didn't come back until ten at night.
When he got home, he pushed the door open as usual and was surprised to see the two little ones sleeping in Scarlett's bed.
He frowned. If the kids were sleeping here, where was he supposed to sleep?
Just then, Scarlett came out of the bathroom. Seeing him, her face showed no expression, and she simply said, "You can sleep in your own room tonight."
Ambrose knew she was angry and guessed he couldn't sleep in her room tonight, but he still felt disappointed.
He didn't say anything, just nodded. "Okay, I'll sleep in the guest room."
After speaking, he looked hurt, then turned and walked toward the door, finally disappearing from Scarlett's sight.
Watching his lonely figure, Scarlett felt a bit soft-hearted, but then thought she couldn't forgive him so quickly. She needed to stay mad for two or three days so he wouldn't dare hide things from her again.
Scarlett had made up her mind to be tough. Just as she lay down, her phone buzzed with a message.
[What will it take for you to forgive me?]
It was from Ambrose.
Scarlett replied: [I don't know yet. I'll tell you when I figure it out.]
Another sleepless night for Ambrose.
After Scarlett learned about Hayden, all her attention was on him, so she didn't pay much attention to Ambrose.
With the Serene Bay Peninsula project, after Ulysses was arrested and exposed as mentally ill, the Mitchell Group was in chaos internally, and project funds couldn't be allocated.
Ambrose took this opportunity to try to kick the Mitchell Group out of the project, so he'd been working around the clock these days, coming home late every night. And every night when he came back, the kids were sleeping in Scarlett's room.
Her actions to keep him out were obvious, and he was helpless.
For the next few days, Ambrose was incredibly busy and didn't come back to Lakeside Garden for three straight days.
Since Scarlett had just found her son, she didn't react much to Ambrose's three-day absence. But by the fourth day, she started feeling restless for some reason.
That evening, lying in bed, she was chatting with Briar on her phone. Briar asked about Hayden, then mentioned Ambrose.
Scarlett was silent for a few seconds. Had Ambrose given up just because she said she wouldn't forgive him?
She opened his WhatsApp and looked at it, finding that the last message was from two days ago, when he'd told her about his schedule, saying he couldn't come home to sleep, and she shouldn't wait up for him.
She hadn't replied to his message—after all, she was still angry, so how could she reply?
She didn't reply, and he hadn't sent any more messages after that. Had he given up?
She felt irritated.
"Scarlett, I'm realizing now that you and Mr. Boleyn are meant to be. Back then, you were both set up, and later you still managed to meet again—what huge fate that must be!"
On this point, Scarlett also found it incredible.
Since learning about Hayden, she hadn't thought much about their situation, but thinking about it now, beyond being incredible, there was also a touch of destined romance.
Who would have thought that the man who made her take the blame for four years would end up being her boyfriend, and even the father of both her children?
Even movie scripts wouldn't dare write it this way, yet she'd encountered such a thing. It was truly magical.
"You'll be happy in the future. Mr. Boleyn is very sincere toward you."
Nonsense! He hadn't shown up for four days. She just wanted to be angry to show her displeasure, but he actually stopped coming back and went completely silent. He didn't even check on the kids. Was this the attitude of someone seeking forgiveness?
Never mind sincerity—he was probably off somewhere having fun right now.
Thinking about this, Scarlett felt irritated again.
If Ambrose dared to find another woman, she definitely wouldn't want him anymore.
She felt she should find out where he was.
She couldn't ask people around him—they definitely wouldn't tell her the truth.
Suddenly, she sent Briar a message, asking her to get Ruben to discreetly find out about Ambrose.
Briar didn't know Scarlett was still angry. After hearing her explanation, she said: [I just praised him, and now he's pulling a disappearing act? Okay, leave it to me. I'll find out.]
Scarlett was also worried that Ruben would catch on, so she gave Briar more instructions to be careful and not let anyone notice.
Briar naturally understood. She immediately called Ruben and asked him out for drinks.
