Chapter 198 Seeking Help
Ambrose was taken aback. Scarlett continued, "We also need to act like we've broken up. That way, you can gain Octavia's trust."
"You've been coming to my place so often lately. What will Octavia think?"
For a moment, Ambrose couldn't tell if Scarlett was being genuine or not. Was she deliberately pushing him away, or was she really thinking of him?
"So you believe me now?" He asked tentatively.
She nodded. "I'll believe you for now, but we still need to keep up appearances, don't you think?"
"As long as you believe me, don't ever talk about breaking up with me again."
Scarlett didn't respond to that. Instead, she said, "I want to take a nap."
"I'll nap with you," Ambrose said, seizing the opportunity.
As he spoke, he started unbuttoning his shirt. Scarlett frowned. "My foot is injured right now. If you're next to me, what if you accidentally hurt it?"
Ambrose paused. Actually, he guessed she didn't really believe him at all, but since she hadn't flatly refused, he could only play dumb.
"I won't do anything. I just want to hold you while we sleep. I haven't been sleeping well lately."
As Ambrose spoke, he was already getting into bed. Scarlett still wanted to refuse, but he was very insistent and got in anyway. Scarlett felt helpless—with her injured foot, she couldn't do much, so she didn't protest too strongly.
She let him hold her while they napped.
Whether it was because Ambrose was holding her or not, when they woke up two hours later, his mood had clearly improved, and his complexion looked much better.
Ambrose was comfortable at Lakeside Garden and didn't want to leave, but work was busy. When a work call came in, he had to go.
After Ambrose left, Hayden stayed at Lakeside Garden. He kept bringing Scarlett water, then tissues, then fruit—so attentive that Scarlett almost forgot his mother was Octavia.
Because of her foot injury, Scarlett rested for a whole week. After a week, she could finally walk again. As soon as she could move, she immediately flew to Luminous City to do an on-site inspection for Soren, then started working on design plans based on his requirements.
Things at the construction site were also going smoothly without any problems.
That evening, Scarlett finished her design draft and arranged to have dinner with Soren to show him the plans.
At Flavor Haven, Scarlett had just entered the restaurant and taken only a few steps when two men blocked her path. Scarlett found one of them very familiar. She quickly remembered—it was Ulysses's bodyguard Xander, the one who had trapped her in that room last time.
Seeing Xander, she guessed Ulysses must be here too. Just as she thought this, a voice came from behind her.
"Ms. Mellon, long time no see."
Hearing this voice, Scarlett knew who it was without looking—it was Ulysses.
She took a quiet breath. How unlucky to run into Ulysses today.
After what happened last time, Ulysses hadn't caused her trouble, but she knew he simply hadn't found the opportunity yet.
Now, he had found his chance.
Scarlett took a deep breath, turned to look at Ulysses, and her lips curved in a cold smile. "Mr. Mitchell, how have you been?"
Ulysses smiled. "How could I be well? Look, the injury you gave me last time still has a scar."
As he spoke, he lifted his hair to reveal his forehead, where a thin red mark was visible—clearly a fresh wound.
"Mr. Mitchell should control his behavior better in the future. If you try any more tricks, it won't be just a thin scar next time."
"Ms. Mellon, you're quite brave to say that." Ulysses's lips curved in a sinister smile that made Scarlett's heart skip a beat.
Ulysses wouldn't let her off easily. She needed to be prepared.
She didn't want to talk to him anymore and turned to leave, but after just two steps, Ulysses grabbed her wrist. "Now that you've run into me, how could I possibly let you go?"
They were in the restaurant's main hall with people coming and going. Passersby all looked over. In such a public place, he dared to grab her—he really wasn't afraid of anything.
"Let go," Scarlett snapped.
"First, we settle the score, then you can leave," Ulysses said righteously.
Scarlett fought back.
"You deceived me first. I haven't settled accounts with you, yet you dare to settle accounts with me? Mr. Mitchell, are you taking advantage of your uncle's promotion to do whatever you want?"
Ulysses smiled. "Scarlett, being too smart makes you very annoying."
"I don't need you to like me."
Scarlett tried to use this tactic to make Ulysses let go, but it didn't work. Instead, he ordered the two bodyguards to drag her away. She shouted for help, but no one dared to step forward.
"Mr. Mitchell, Ms. Mellon." A voice interrupted them.
Everyone looked over, curious who was foolish enough to court death.
Scarlett turned and met a pair of clear eyes. She remembered him—it was Caspian, that Mr. Anderson with the very clear eyes.
"Mr. Anderson, please call the police," Scarlett asked him for help.
"Caspian, don't meddle. She and I have a private grudge," Ulysses said in a low voice.
Hearing that Ulysses knew him, Scarlett quickly said again.
"Mr. Anderson, please call the police."
Caspian glanced at Scarlett, giving her a look that said to stay calm, then said to Ulysses, "Whatever the grudge, you can't do this in public. If word gets out, you know very well who it will affect."
The words hinted at Indigo. Scarlett naturally caught on. Yes, only Indigo could control Ulysses.
Ulysses ignored Caspian and gave the bodyguards a look. The bodyguards started dragging Scarlett away. Caspian tried to follow, but Ulysses blocked him.
"If you keep interfering, don't blame me for not caring about family ties."
Caspian looked at Ulysses, his eyes showing faint contempt, but his tone remained calm.
"I've heard about what happened between you two. Whatever it is, talk it out slowly. Why make it like this?"
"I'm different from you. Mind your own business."
With that, Ulysses pushed Caspian aside and followed after them.
Scarlett shouted, "This is illegal!"
But no one paid attention. She was still pushed into a private room by Ulysses. The room was empty. After she was pushed in, Ulysses gave the bodyguards a look, and one of them left while Xander stayed behind.
"You hit me last time. This time, I won't hit you, but you need to apologize to me. Otherwise, I'll never let you go." Ulysses said.
"In your dreams," Scarlett said firmly.
Before long, the other bodyguard came back in and handed something to Ulysses. Ulysses took it, smiled, then walked up to her.
"Hold her down for me."
Scarlett was held down by the two bodyguards. Ulysses grabbed her chin and forced whatever was in his hand into her mouth.
"I'll make you beg to apologize to me soon," Ulysses said with an extremely dark smile.
