CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

The proposal

As their conversation continued, Chris found himself opening up to Nora in a way he hadn't expected. Her genuine interest and understanding made him feel at ease, allowing him to share more of his thoughts and feelings.

Nora listened attentively, giving words of wisdom and encouragement whenever needed. She had a way of putting him at ease, making him feel understood and accepted.

Before long, Chris realized that he was enjoying Nora's company more than he had expected. Despite his initial skepticism, he found himself vibing to her energy.

As they talked late into the night, Chris couldn't help but feel a feeling of gratefulness for having met Nora. She had brought a ray of light into his life. A way he hadn't felt since Nina left the clan.

As Chris and Nora continued their conversation, the night grew darker, and tiredness began to weigh heavily on Nora. Despite her efforts to stay awake, she eventually succumbed to sleep, her head nodding forward as she dozed off.

Chris couldn't help but smile at the sight of Nora's innocent face as she slept peacefully. Carefully, he adjusted her position to ensure she was comfortable before he went to freshen up.

Hours passed, and Chris eventually felt the pull of exhaustion himself. He decided to join Nora in sleep, hoping to get some rest before the new day began. He had serious training to do.

However, barely an hour into his sleep, Chris was startled awake by a strange sensation. His eyes snapped open to find Nora half-naked, her intentions clear as she attempted to seduce him.

Feeling a surge of irritation, Chris pushed Nora away, “Nora? What the heck is wrong with you?” his voice laced with anger as he scolded her for her inappropriate behavior. He couldn't understand why she would act this way, especially after their meaningful conversation earlier.

But instead of seeing reason, Nora reacted defensively, her words turning into insults as she lashed out at Chris. “Why would you even ask me that? Aren't you a man? Oh! I see, you are just a dead leaf. You should be happy that I came to you. If not for your chief, I would’ve been here. Nonsense!”

Her refusal to acknowledge her wrongdoing only made Chris more frustrated, and he knew he had to take action.

With a firm mind, Chris made the decision to push Nora out of the house, unwilling to tolerate her disrespectful behavior any longer. As he watched her leave, he couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment at the turn of events. He had trusted Nora, and her betrayal left him feeling betrayed and hurt.

Alone once again, Chris was left to ponder the true intentions behind Nora's actions. He couldn't understand why such a beautiful and intelligent person could act so loose. It surprised him a whole lot.

Yoma….

As Nina made her way through the bustling streets of Yoma, she encountered a young man who caught her attention. He approached her with a warm smile, his eyes showing genuine interest as he greeted her politely.

"Good day, Miss Nina," the young man greeted, his voice gentle and respectful. "I couldn't help but notice your presence. My name is Kofi."

Nina returned the greeting with a polite nod, offering a small smile in return. "Good day, Kofi. It's a pleasure to meet you," she replied, her tone friendly yet reserved.

As they exchanged pleasantries, Kofi wasted no time in expressing his intentions. "Miss Nina, I have heard much about you and your admirable qualities," he began, his words sincere. "I have come today to ask for your hand in marriage. I believe we would make a great pair, and I promise to cherish and support you always."

Nina listened attentively to Kofi's proposal, her heart touched by his sincerity. However, she knew that she couldn't accept his offer. With a gentle smile, she began to explain her reasons.

"Thank you for your kind words, Kofi," Nina started, her voice soft yet firm. "I am truly honored by your proposal, but I must respectfully decline. My heart belongs elsewhere, and I cannot accept a marriage proposal without love."

Kofi nodded understandingly, his expression showing his disappointment yet admiration for Nina's honesty. "I understand, Miss Nina," he replied, his tone gracious. "I appreciate your honesty, and I wish you all the best in finding true love."

Nina returned Kofi's nod with a grateful smile, relieved that he had taken her refusal with grace. As they bid each other farewell, she couldn't help but feel a sense of respect for Kofi's maturity and understanding. She didn't expect him to just walk away.

As she continued on her way to fetch herbs for Nana Sam, Nina remembered the meeting with Kofi. While she appreciated his offer, she knew that her heart belonged to another, and she remained hopeful that one day she would find the love she longed for.

But then, what's the man doing? Has Chris moved on? Does he still love her or has he totally forgotten all about them?

Nina couldn't help but wonder about Chris and what he was doing now. Despite everything that had happened between them, a part of her still held onto the hope that he might have moved on and found happiness.

However, deep down, Nina knew that her feelings for Chris hadn't faded. She still loved him, despite the pain and betrayal she had endured. The memories of their time together filled her mind, and she couldn't deny the feeling of yearning that tugged at her heart whenever she thought of him.

But as much as she wished for things to be different, Nina knew that she had to focus on her own happiness and well-being. She couldn't continue to dwell on the past and what could have been. Instead, she needed to take care of herself and her unborn baby.

With a sigh, Nina pushed aside her thoughts of Chris and focused on what she was doing. Suddenly, she heard the sound of footsteps coming towards her.
