Chapter 321

Chapter 321

Jason swallowed hard, his voice trembling a bit:

"Really... really?"

The next morning.

Jason drove extremely carefully all the way to the private hospital.

Owen was the Cooper family's doctor and had been waiting in the examination room early.

After a series of routine checkups, I lay on the bed in the ultrasound room as the cold instrument slid across my belly.

Jason stood by the bed, both hands gripping mine tightly, his palms covered in sweat.

His eyes were glued to the screen, even holding his breath.

"Relax, Mr. Cooper."

Owen looked at the screen and suddenly smiled: "Congratulations to you both."

Jason straightened up abruptly:

"What's wrong? Is there a problem?"

"No problem at all. Everything's great."

Owen pointed to two small dark shadows on the screen:

"It's twins. Two heartbeats, both developing very healthily."

For a moment, the ultrasound room fell deathly silent.

I was stunned and turned to look at Jason.

He stood there completely dazed, looking at me, hardly believing it, even starting to stutter.

"Tw... twins?"

"Yes, fraternal twins." Owen handed over some tissues.

Jason grabbed the tissues and hastily wiped my belly a couple times, then quickly bent down and buried his face in the crook of my neck.

I felt a warm drop fall on my collarbone.

He was crying.

This man who could face billion-dollar mergers in the business world without batting an eye was now crying like a child over two tiny lives.

"Honey, thank you."

Jason's voice was hoarse, thick with emotion.

But the next moment he tensed up again:

"Isn't the risk much higher with twins?"

Owen reassured him:

"Medical technology is very advanced now. Don't worry, Mrs. Cooper and the babies will be fine."

I patted Jason's back:

"That's right, trust Owen. Don't worry."

Coming out of the ultrasound room, Jason went to pay and get the prescriptions.

I sat on a bench in the hallway waiting for him.

Next to me sat a pregnant woman with a big belly, holding a stack of test results, looking exhausted.

She glanced at me, then at the ultrasound report in my hand, her eyes full of envy:

"Your husband is so good to you. I heard him crying in there just now."

I smiled:

"He's just too nervous."

"That's so nice."

The pregnant woman lowered her head and touched her belly:

"My husband always says he's busy. Every checkup, I come alone. Sometimes I really feel like a single mom."

Hearing "single mom," my heart ached.

Once, when I was pregnant with Jessica, I was the same way.

Going to the hospital alone, waiting in line alone, staring at the little dark shadow on the ultrasound report alone.

Seeing others with someone by their side would create this sense of gap and resentment.

My vision gradually blurred.

A coat carrying a crisp cedar scent was draped over my shoulders.

Jason strode over and crouched in front of me, brows furrowed:

"Why are you crying? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

I shook my head and sniffled:

"No, I was just thinking about before..."

Jason understood immediately.

He held my hand and pressed the back of it against his cheek, his gaze gentle yet firm:

"Honey, I was a jerk before, making you suffer so much alone. From now on, wherever you go, whatever you do, I'll be by your side. You and the children are my life."

I smiled through my tears and nodded firmly.

Back at the Old Cooper Mansion.

As soon as Jason walked in, he shouted at the top of his lungs:

"Grandma! Dad! Sue's having twins!"

That shout practically woke up the entire Old Mansion.

Tamsin, leaning on her cane, rushed down from the second floor at lightning speed, so fast that even the servant beside her couldn't keep up.

Thomas also ran out of his study, still holding a paintbrush.

"Twins?"

Tamsin trembled with excitement and grabbed my hand:

"Sue! You're a great hero of the Cooper family!"

Thomas threw down his brush and waved his hand grandly:

"Butler! Go open the safe!"

In less than ten minutes, the table was piled high with things.

Tamsin took out a wooden box containing a complete set of gemstone jewelry.

"This was Grandma's wedding gift back then. Today it's all yours!"

Tamsin was magnificently generous.

Thomas was even more direct, slapping down five property deeds and three shop transfer agreements:

"This is the villa in the south district, plus three shops in the city center. Tomorrow... no, right now we'll transfer them all to Sue's name!"

Looking at this pile of priceless items, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry:

"Grandma, Dad, this is too much."

"Not too much! Not too much at all!"

Thomas's eyes widened:

"You're carrying two treasures of the Cooper family in your belly! If I wasn't afraid of scaring you, I'd want to transfer another five percent of the company shares to you!"

I turned to Jason for help.

Jason put his arm around my shoulders, looking extremely proud:

"When elders give you something, just take it. Besides, my money will be yours in the future anyway."

"Alright then."

This feeling of being cherished by family warmed my heart.

After dinner at the Old Mansion, Jason and I finally took Jessica home.

That evening.

After my bath, I leaned against the headboard reading.

Jason came out after washing up, holding that familiar bottle of pregnancy oil.

His movements were even more careful now, afraid of hurting the two little ones in my belly.

After applying the oil, he quickly slipped under the covers and pulled me into his arms.

"Honey, let's sleep."

Jason closed his eyes, his voice gentle.

Looking at his handsome face so close to mine, a mischievous thought suddenly arose in my heart.

I reached out and drew circles on his chest with my finger.

Jason's body stiffened. He grabbed my hand, his voice hoarse:

"Don't tease. You're carrying two babies now. We can't mess around."

"But Owen said today that after the first three months, once the fetuses are stable, we can appropriately engage in..."

I deliberately drew out my words.

Jason immediately opened his eyes, desire burning in them, but he quickly suppressed it.

"No."

He refused:

"Owen was talking about a single pregnancy. Twins are riskier. I can't gamble with your and the babies' safety."

I laughed secretly.

This Jason used to be like a hungry wolf, but now he'd become a celibate monk.

"Really not?"

I leaned close to his ear and blew gently.

Jason felt heat surge through his body and immediately got out of bed, heading straight for the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of running water came from the bathroom.

I lay in bed, unable to help laughing heartily.

The next morning.

When I woke up, Jason was already sitting at the head of the bed.

He had two huge dark circles under his eyes, as if he hadn't slept well.

"Honey, what's wrong?"

Thinking I might have gone too far last night, I reached out to hug him.

Jason turned and hugged me back, his tone full of grievance:

"I had a nightmare."

"What did you dream about?"

"I dreamed you gave birth to two boys."

Jason swallowed hard:

"Two little devils. One burned down my study, the other caught all the fish from the Old Mansion's pond and grilled them. I spent every day following behind them cleaning up their messes, with no time to be sweet and romantic with you."
