Chapter 311

Chapter 311

Maya understood what Kinsley was implying.

She pressed her lips together tightly.

She used to think she would become Jason's wife someday and never doubted it.

But now, she knew she had to make a change.

Maya rubbed her temples tiredly and nodded:

"I understand. But before that, I'll send someone to investigate Cecilia's situation first. Mom, you'll have to handle things at the hospital for now."

---

Ever since Maya came to see me at the company, Jason had become increasingly clingy.

It was one thing for him to stick to me at home, but now when I went to work at the company, Jason would rush over to the hospital whenever he had time.

Lunch break was only two hours. I was planning to take a nap when someone knocked on my office door.

Before I could say anything, the door was pushed open and Jason strode in, naturally coming over to kiss me.

I looked at him helplessly: "Why are you here again?"

Jason said matter-of-factly: "I missed my wife, so of course I had to come see you."

I took a deep breath: "We had breakfast together this morning, and you drove me to the company yourself."

"I know, but that doesn't stop me from missing you."

Jason pulled me into his arms.

Surrounded by his familiar scent, I couldn't help but smile, lazily leaning against Jason.

"Well, you came at the wrong time. I'm about to rest now, so you should go back."

"I need to rest too. Let's rest together."

Without waiting for my response, Jason scooped me up and strode toward the lounge.

The big bed in the lounge was specially chosen by Jason - big and soft. Even when we both lay in it, it felt like sinking into clouds.

I nestled in Jason's arms, and as if suddenly thinking of something, looked up at him with blinking eyes:

"Honey, did you plan this all along?"

Originally, I only wanted to put a small bed in the lounge, just enough to rest on.

But Jason insisted on getting a bigger one.

Jason raised an eyebrow: "Don't make accusations without evidence, or I'll have to punish you."

I pouted, somewhat resentfully:

"Some men talk a good game, but actually haven't really done it in a long time."

Ever since finding out I was pregnant, Jason had changed completely, no longer constantly wanting to make love. Even when I wanted to, as soon as I showed the slightest hint of desire, Jason would immediately keep his distance!

Too much!

As expected, it was the same this time. Jason cleared his throat, and his arms around me loosened considerably.

"Honey, don't you need a nap? Rest quickly, I'll hold you while you sleep."

I didn't say anything, just stared at him resentfully.

Jason blinked, looking at me with complete innocence: "You really want to?"

I ground my teeth viciously:

"What do you think!"

I'm a normal person with needs!

But ever since finding out I was pregnant, Jason had been avoiding sex like the plague. We couldn't go the entire pregnancy without it, could we?

"Be good, honey. Let's not think about it."

Jason tried to comfort me, reaching out to stroke my cheek.

I slapped his hand away irritably:

"Go away! I want to sleep!"

Jason looked hurt, covering his reddened hand, and reluctantly snuggled up beside me, gently holding me.

"Good night, honey."

As soon as he finished speaking, Jason's phone suddenly rang.

I frowned.

Jason answered the phone with a dark expression: "This better really be something important."

Richard's voice on the other end paused before continuing:

"Jason, it's nothing major. I just wanted to ask if you're free this Saturday? To come to my engagement party."

My ears perked up, and I quietly moved closer to Jason.

Knowing what I was curious about, Jason put it on speaker.

He asked: "When did you start dating? We haven't heard anything, and suddenly you're getting engaged?"

Richard laughed:

"Isn't this pretty normal? Few of us get to decide our own marriages... except for you and Ryan. You two are the odd ones out."

"But it's fine. I know my fiancée too. You two remember to come, okay?"

With that, Richard hung up.

I immediately wasn't sleepy anymore, looking at Jason curiously:

"What's going on with Richard? Didn't he say he wouldn't date or get married? How is he suddenly getting engaged? He's moving even faster than Lily!"

Last time I contacted Lily, she said Ryan was busy preparing a proposal.

I wonder how that's going now.

Jason patted my head, his voice tinged with amusement:

"If you're so curious, we'll find out when we go on Saturday, won't we?"

---

Saturday, Evening Breeze Grand Hotel.

I got out of the car holding Jason's arm, and from a distance, I saw two familiar faces on a poster.

Richard and Maya?

I stared in disbelief, looking several more times to make sure.

The woman in the white dress on the poster, smiling elegantly and gracefully at the camera - who else could it be but Maya?

I never expected Maya would get engaged to Richard.

But thinking about it, it actually made sense.

The Allen family was also a wealthy family, well-matched with the Coleman family.

More importantly, the Allen family could back Maya up and help her secure the inheritance rights to Coleman Corporation.

I just didn't expect Maya to settle things with Richard so quickly.

"Honey, did you see who's on the poster?"

I gently tugged on Jason's arm.

Jason responded: "I saw. Those two are quite well-matched."

Well-matched?

I tilted my head curiously, unable to figure out how Jason thought they were well-matched.

After entering, I immediately spotted Maya.

The moment I saw her, she saw me too.

Maya, wearing an evening gown and holding champagne, walked gracefully toward me.

"Jason, I'd like to talk to Sue alone. You don't mind, do you?"

Jason's lips pressed into a thin line, but he didn't speak.

Maya smiled helplessly:

"Don't worry, I'm not stupid enough to do anything to Sue here. That would just be asking for trouble. My only goal is to get the inheritance rights. Now that I have a new way, I won't bother you two anymore."

Seeing that Maya really did have something to say to me, I said to Jason:

"Honey, you go ahead. We'll just be over there, not going anywhere else."

"Okay, call me if anything happens."

Jason nodded before walking away.

I looked up at Maya: "Ms. Coleman, let's go somewhere quieter to talk?"

Maya looked at me deeply: "Follow me."

We walked out to the balcony, and I faced Maya. We looked at each other in silence.

Honestly, I really didn't know what Maya and I had to talk about.

Our interactions from the beginning until now had never been pleasant.

Instead, it was Maya who looked at me with complicated eyes.

After a moment, she finally let out a long sigh.

"Sue, although I really don't want to admit it, I have to say - you won."

I shook my head: "This has nothing to do with winning or losing. Jason isn't a trophy either."
