Chapter 166

Chapter 166

After a moment of thought, Jason finally answered, "Ryan takes relationships seriously, which is actually quite similar to me."

The corner of my mouth twitched, and I couldn't help pinching Jason's waist, "Narcissist!"

Jason raised an eyebrow, "I'm just stating facts."

I didn't want to argue with him about this, so I pulled the conversation back on track, "Okay, okay, you're the most devoted one. Can we talk about Ryan's situation first?"

This was about Lily's happiness - I couldn't be careless about it.

Jason frowned slightly, a bit unhappy with my dismissiveness, but continued anyway, "He had a relationship in college that didn't work out because they weren't compatible. He dated someone a few years ago too, but they broke up after two weeks."

He paused before continuing, "But he does seem really interested in Lily. He even went to the company on his own initiative. This is the first time I've seen him so enthusiastic about a woman."

Just from Jason's description, I couldn't really tell if this guy was reliable or not.

After thinking for a moment, I asked, "If Lily dates him, would the Scott family approve? The Scotts are also a wealthy family, and don't all wealthy families care about matching social status?"

Jason didn't give me a direct answer, only saying, "Ryan's parents are pretty nice people, but when it comes to Ryan's love life, I don't know."

I sighed helplessly, "That's basically the same as saying nothing."

"Who says? At least now you know they're reasonable people."

He had a point, but I didn't get the answer I wanted.

Still, if they were reasonable, they probably wouldn't make things difficult for Lily, right?

Jason put his phone on the nightstand and leisurely brushed the hair from my face with his fingers, "Stop worrying about their business. I bet those two will be tangled up for a while."

His long, well-defined fingers waved back and forth in front of my eyes. I grabbed his hand and bit it, not too hard, not too soft.

Jason's eyes darkened as he stared straight at me.

"Are you trying to seduce me?"

I immediately let go of his hand like I'd been shocked, "No! Why is that the only thing on your mind?"

"You just bit me. That was an invitation."

"My teeth were itchy. I wanted to bite you."

"Still being stubborn. You wanted it."

After saying this, Jason rolled over and pinned me down on the bed.

I pushed hard against his chest with both hands, my voice full of helplessness, "Jason, get off! I really wasn't trying to seduce you!"

"No can do. If I think you were seducing me, then you were."

He took my earlobe in his mouth, his voice low and husky, "Be good. Just once."

After the third time.

I lay on the bed completely exhausted, on the verge of tears, glaring resentfully at Jason who still wasn't satisfied, "Separate rooms. I want to sleep in separate rooms right now."

Jason raised an eyebrow, licked his lower lip, and pressed down on me again.

"You're being naughty. I need to punish you properly."

I tried to scramble off the bed, but Jason grabbed my ankle and dragged me back.

Help!

Early in the morning, Ember received a phone call, and her expression instantly turned dark.

She never expected that I was actually Cora's daughter!

How ironic - Cora's daughter had stolen the man her daughter liked.

A bastard child - how could she be worthy of marrying into the Cooper family?

"Flora, come on. We're going to visit Tamsin."

In the car.

Ember carefully instructed Flora, "When we get to the Old Cooper Mansion, don't speak out of turn. You must make a good impression on Tamsin, understand?"

Flora's face lit up with excitement, "I know!"

She looked a bit confused though, "But Mom, didn't you say before that we had no chance of a marriage alliance with the Cooper family? Why are we going to the Cooper family now?"

Ember replied, "Don't you like Jason? As your mother, I still want to try to help you."

Flora's eyes immediately brightened, and she hugged Ember's arm affectionately, "Mom, you're the best! I love you so much!"

When the two arrived at the Old Cooper Mansion, Tamsin was somewhat surprised to hear the news, but still had the servants bring coffee.

Tamsin's gaze swept over the two sitting on the sofa, "In the blink of an eye, Flora has grown so much. She's become such a beautiful young lady."

Ember smiled in response, "Yes, time flies."

Tamsin said, "I've gotten old."

Flora immediately said sweetly, "You look so energetic, not old at all."

Just then, a servant brought the coffee. Flora took the initiative to take it and handed it to Tamsin, "Mrs. Cooper, have some coffee."

Tamsin took the cup and praised her, "Flora is so thoughtful. Whoever marries you in the future will be very lucky."

Flora shyly lowered her head and said softly, "I don't have a boyfriend yet."

Tamsin seemed to sense something. She put down her cup and said unhurriedly, "You're still young. There's no rush for that kind of thing."

Ember was about to speak when Flora couldn't wait any longer, "But I already like someone! I like Jason. Please let Jason marry me!"

Tamsin's face darkened, but she said nothing.

Ember quickly shot Flora a glare.

Flora bit her lip, feeling wronged.

She hadn't done anything wrong. If she wanted Jason, of course she had to be proactive!

Ember forced a smile, trying to smooth things over, "Please don't take offense. Our Flora is straightforward and innocent. She doesn't know how to beat around the bush."

Tamsin nodded faintly, "It's fine, but Flora and Jason aren't meant to be. Our Jason has a girlfriend."

Ember feigned surprise, "Really? Which family's young lady is she?"

"A girl from an ordinary family."

Ember's expression became even more shocked. She first sighed, then shook her head, "How could a girl from an ordinary family be worthy of Jason? You know, in our circle, matching social status is the most important thing. Those ordinary families are problematic - after all, you don't know what their parents or siblings do. What if they have ulterior motives?"

"In my opinion, Jason should find a girl from our circle. At least we know their background and can feel at ease!"

Tamsin's expression gradually darkened, though most people in this circle did think this way.

She suppressed her temper, "The Cooper family doesn't care about those things. As long as Jason likes her, that's enough."

Tamsin couldn't help adding, "And I've met this girl. She's wonderful. The Cooper family has found a real treasure. They've been together for five years. The girl gave Jason a child. My little great-granddaughter is over four years old now, and she's adorable."

When mentioning Jessica, the corners of Tamsin's lips curved up slightly.

Flora couldn't stand hearing this. She frowned, "So much can happen in five years! And are you sure that child is really Jason's? Don't let some woman with ulterior motives fool you!"

Tamsin immediately slammed her hand on the table and sternly rebuked, "Who do you think you are to point fingers at our family's affairs in front of me? And I just thought you were a sensible person! Get out! All of you, get out!"

Ember looked at Flora reproachfully and forced a smile, "Please don't be angry. Flora is just straightforward and doesn't know better. She spoke without thinking."

"Flora, apologize to Mrs. Cooper right now!"
