Chapter 151
I suddenly understood.
Seeing Lily looking so down, I patted her shoulder, "But your relationship with him has nothing to do with his family. Ask yourself honestly, do you really not like Ryan?"
"I do like him a little bit, after all he's really into me. But our relationship ends here."
Lily said word by word, "I don't want to date him. Who knows, maybe the next one will be even better?"
Lily chatted with me for a while longer, and seeing it was getting late, she left.
Richard and Ryan left too.
I sat in the master bedroom waiting and waiting, but Jason never came in.
It was almost bedtime, and there was still no movement at the bedroom door.
I couldn't help thinking to myself.
Was Jason angry?
But I never actively said we should be together.
He couldn't suddenly start caring about chastity now, could he?
But he was the one who seduced me first!
And now he's the one getting angry first!
The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. I flopped onto the bed and pulled the covers over my head.
Sleep!
If he doesn't come, at least I can sleep more soundly.
The next morning, I got up as usual to make breakfast. Hearing movement outside the kitchen, I instinctively looked out.
I saw Jason had just returned from his run, taking long strides upstairs to shower.
Seeing that he didn't seem to acknowledge me, I went back to the kitchen to cook.
During breakfast, Jason was unusually silent.
Several times, I tried to start a conversation.
But seeing his expressionless face, I swallowed my words back down.
Throughout the entire breakfast, Jason didn't say a word.
After breakfast, Jason cleared the table, and I went upstairs to change as usual.
But when I came back downstairs, no one was there.
Jason had gone to work.
I stood at the second-floor staircase, my brow furrowing unconsciously.
A whole night had passed, and he was still angry?
The moment this thought popped into my head, I shook it vigorously.
I don't care whether he's angry or not!
I'm busy anyway!
Despite saying I didn't care, I wandered aimlessly around the house several times.
I had originally wanted to do something, but I just couldn't concentrate.
When I passed by the sunroom, seeing the empty space, my heart stirred.
"Jessica, let's go buy some flowers."
Jessica was sitting downstairs painting at the moment. Hearing my voice, she looked up at me and nodded obediently, "Okay."
Just as we were heading out with Jessica, we ran into Tamsin coming over.
"Sue, where are you planning to take Jessica?"
Tamsin walked over with a smile, looking at me expectantly, "Take me along?"
I smiled and nodded, "We're planning to go to the flower and bird market to buy some flowers to decorate the sunroom. Grandma, do you want to come with us?"
"Let's go, let's go!"
Tamsin nodded repeatedly.
Originally, I planned to just pick some random ones at the flower and bird market, since I didn't know much about flowers.
But unexpectedly, Tamsin was extremely knowledgeable about these things.
"Look at this flower—long blooming period and easy to care for. Take it home!"
"This one's not bad either. Get it."
I was a bit worried, "Grandma, I'm not very good at growing flowers."
Tamsin waved her hand dismissively, "It's no big deal. I'll have the gardener at home teach you later. It's very simple. You're so smart, you'll definitely learn it right away!"
Under Tamsin's guidance, we bought quite a lot of flowers. In the end, the shop arranged for a small truck to deliver them to us.
When we got home, I was thinking about leaving the flowers in the yard and slowly moving them up myself.
But unexpectedly, Tamsin had already thought of this and called over a dozen strong bodyguards in advance. They moved all the flowers to the sunroom in no time.
I stood to the side, unable to help at all.
These people came and went so quickly.
I didn't even have a chance to pour them water.
After lunch, Jessica went to class with her tutor, and Tamsin went to the first-floor room for a nap.
I threw myself into the sunroom to tend to the newly bought flowers.
Never having done this before, I searched for tutorials online while taking care of the flowers.
My previously unsettled mood gradually calmed down.
Time flew by, and soon it was almost dinner time.
Thomas came straight over after work.
Seeing that there would be more people eating at home tonight, I mentally planned to make two more dishes.
I was preparing ingredients when I heard intense commotion from the living room.
Puzzled, I came out of the kitchen and looked up to see Tamsin holding Jessica's stuffed toy, chasing after Jason and hitting him.
As Tamsin hit him, she shouted, "You brat! I'm going to teach you a good lesson today! You've really made something of yourself now, haven't you! You even dared to take Jessica for a paternity test! Do you have no heart?"
Jason ran around the sofa, looking awkward, "Grandma! It wasn't me!"
Only then did I understand what was happening.
Watching Jason's figure, I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
In this world, Tamsin was probably the only one who dared to hit Jason like this.
Jessica stood to the side with a confused little face, raising her hand, "Grandma, I was the one who wanted to do it."
Tamsin froze. She instinctively looked at Jason, "Really?"
Jason nodded helplessly. Seeing that Tamsin had finally calmed down, he explained, "Jessica couldn't eat or sleep, always worried about what if she wasn't my daughter. To put Jessica's mind at ease, we did the paternity test."
Tamsin looked down at the toy in her hand and put it on the sofa.
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Jason looked helpless.
I leaned against the kitchen doorway, laughing with delight, while also feeling warm inside.
So this is what it feels like to be cared for and loved by family.
Jason glanced at me from afar, his face stern as he went upstairs.
Tamsin, meanwhile, looked at the test report with a smile, "Good, good. From now on, if anyone dares say a bad word about Jessica, I'll slap it right in their face!"
Thomas also carefully put away the test report, very much agreeing with Tamsin's words, "I'll carry it with me at all times."
I smiled and shook my head.
This whole family thought alike.
Dinner was ready.
Everyone sat at the dining table to eat.
Jason sat next to me as usual, but remained silent.
After dinner, Tamsin pulled me to sit on the sofa. Her gaze swept over Jason, who was clearing the table, and she asked me in a low voice, "Sue, did you two have a fight?"
I shook my head, "No."
"Sue, don't be afraid. Did Jason make you angry? You two haven't been talking all day. Don't be scared. If there's anything, just tell Grandma, and Grandma will stand up for you!"
Tamsin patted my hand, encouraging me.
I felt a bit embarrassed and forced a smile, "Don't worry, Grandma, we really didn't fight."
Tamsin seemed unconvinced.
She looked at me, then at Jason, and asked, "Then who's he making that stern face for?"
I opened my mouth, and in a moment of desperation came up with an excuse, "Maybe he has hemorrhoids and isn't in a good mood?"
Tamsin's eyes widened.
I smiled awkwardly, "It should be nothing serious, some medicine will fix it."
