Chapter 169 Hundred Days Banquet 1
I can't go to tonight's hundred-day celebration wearing a wedding dress.
So Jake brought out the diamond mermaid gown he had prepared earlier for her to wear.
This time Elizabeth was completely uncooperative. "If you force me to wear this, I'm not going."
She didn't need to be the center of attention.
In the end, Jake gave in. Luckily he had prepared another dress - a mint green one that made her look fresh and beautiful.
The design at the waist cleverly concealed her not-yet-large baby bump.
Standing in front of the mirror, Elizabeth raised her hand to remove the necklace Jake had put on her during the wedding photo shoot.
"That's weird, why won't it come off?"
She turned around and asked the makeup artist to help open the clasp.
The makeup artist tried too, being very careful because she was worried about breaking it - she couldn't afford to pay for it.
The makeup artist mumbled, "Ms. Penrose, I can't get it open either."
Elizabeth frowned. What was Jake thinking, putting such a difficult necklace on her?
She lifted her dress, thanked the makeup artist, and planned to go out and have Jake remove it.
When Jake saw her coming out holding up her dress, he went over to help her with it.
"Mr. Robinson, help me take off this necklace."
Jake leaned close to her ear. "You look beautiful wearing this necklace, and it matches this dress perfectly. I'll help you take it off after the party ends."
Since he wouldn't remove it, Elizabeth had no choice.
The necklace did match the dress well.
There was even a red gemstone in the center of the necklace.
Jake's phone rang. It was a call from Cecilia. As the host of the party, Timothy needed to arrive early to greet guests.
"Elizabeth, I need to go to the party first. Do you want to rest here or come with me? There's also a lounge there."
Elizabeth thought for a moment. "You go first. I'll go to the party on my own later."
"Are you sure you don't want to go together?"
"No, I arranged to meet Mabel at the hotel where the party is being held."
Elizabeth only knew Mabel in Border Ridge City. Right now Mabel was also getting her makeup done. If she went to the party now, she'd just be sitting alone in a corner with no one to talk to.
Jake nodded and gave a low laugh. He touched her belly. "You can go in with Mabel later. I'll go first."
In the hotel lounge, after Cecilia hung up the phone, she looked at the slightly nervous Emma and smiled gently. "Timothy is coming. When he arrives, you two will be in charge of greeting the VIP guests."
This was a form of recognition.
Emma's appearance this time meant she could openly greet VIPs as a member of the Robinson family.
Hearing that Timothy would be coming, Emma felt relieved. "Ms. Patel, thank you."
Cecilia couldn't stay in the lounge the whole time. She needed to go out now.
Cecilia turned to Beatrix and Mindy and said, "You two wait here. When it's time, go out with Emma."
Beatrix stood up. "Mom, I'll go out with you."
Cecilia nodded. After the two of them left the lounge, only Emma and Mindy remained.
Emma casually chatted with Mindy. "Mindy, actually a while ago I had my mom mention to Lyric about you and Yosef."
Mindy's face turned slightly red.
"But Yosef didn't agree. He said he already has someone he likes."
"What?" Mindy was shocked. "He has someone he likes?"
Emma nodded. She wasn't lying to Mindy. When she talked to Lyric on the phone last night, Lyric mentioned Yosef.
Lyric had been trying to find someone for Yosef. Yosef probably got annoyed and just said he already had a girl he liked.
However, Lyric thought Yosef was just saying it casually, because when she asked him which family the girl was from, he didn't say.
Emma only chose to tell Mindy that Yosef already had a girl he liked.
Mindy blinked and asked sadly, "Who is the girl Yosef likes?"
She had finally worked up the courage to pursue someone, and before she could even catch him, she heard he already had someone he liked.
Maybe she and he really weren't meant to be.
Emma shook her head. "Yosef didn't say. None of us know. Ms. Penrose used to be his secretary, so she should know something. You could ask her."
Mindy's face fell. "Elizabeth won't tell me something like that."
Mindy frowned. Could it be that Yosef likes Elizabeth? He used to praise Elizabeth!
Emma smiled with curved eyes. "Mindy, there are still many young men from good families in Border Ridge City. Ms. Patel has already picked out some candidates for you. This time you're in Border Ridge City, she'll probably arrange for you to meet them."
Mindy showed little interest. "I don't like them."
In the evening, around six-thirty, various expensive cars began pulling up at the hotel entrance one after another.
Timothy didn't need to greet everyone who came - it depended on whether their status was worthy enough.
Wearing a festive yet elegant outfit, Emma stood beside Jake with a bright smile.
Her manner of receiving guests was very graceful.
Jake and Emma standing together looked well-matched.
Outside the hotel entrance.
Mabel and Elizabeth arrived at the hotel almost at the same time.
"Elizabeth, your dress is so beautiful." Mabel smiled sweetly and linked her arm through Elizabeth's, lowering her voice to ask, "It's strange, why would they send you an invitation?"
"No matter how you look at it, they don't have good intentions. But with Mr. Robinson here, it should be fine."
"Maybe they want me to come and accept my fate?" Elizabeth smiled, her words meaningful.
The two walked into the hotel.
Yosef held a wine glass, keeping his attention on the entrance. When he saw Mabel and Elizabeth walk in chatting and laughing together.
He put down his glass and walked over.
He greeted them, his gaze falling on Mabel's face. She had a bright smile, as if she had no worries.
Yosef felt bitter inside and looked away again.
Mindy's gaze had been following Yosef. Seeing him actively go over to chat and laugh with Elizabeth and the others, she pressed her lips together.
Jake had his back to the entrance and didn't see that Elizabeth had already arrived.
But Elizabeth saw him standing with Emma greeting guests.
She smiled to herself.
That wasn't the real Timothy. Elizabeth wasn't heartbroken.
Mabel caught sight of the fake Timothy standing with Emma and got a headache. What kind of situation was this!
Yosef couldn't keep standing with Elizabeth and the others. After chatting for a while, he left.
Mabel watched Yosef's retreating figure, lowered her eyes, feeling a bit down, and followed Elizabeth to a less crowded area.
By coincidence, Elizabeth ran into Mindy there.
Elizabeth had no intention of greeting Mindy.
The two of them had never gotten along anyway.
But Mindy, when she saw Yosef's gaze once again looking toward Elizabeth and the others, her expression darkened.
The girl Yosef likes is actually Elizabeth!
Mindy didn't consider Mabel. After all, Mabel was Manuel's mistress, and Emma was about to marry into the Robinson family. Yosef couldn't possibly like a woman like Mabel.
Only Elizabeth - she used to be Yosef's secretary after all.
Mindy's heart felt like ants were crawling over it, very uncomfortable. She smiled at Elizabeth in a superior manner. "Elizabeth, you actually have the nerve to come to the hundred-day celebration?"
Elizabeth curved her lips, raised an eyebrow and smiled lightly. "The Robinson family took the initiative to send me an invitation. Actually, I didn't really want to come, but it was hard to refuse such a kind invitation."
"Then I really admire your courage," Mindy covered her red lips and laughed softly. "I heard that Mr. Robinson and Ms. Sutter will also announce their marriage today. Tommy and Jane, the children they had together, are also very cute."
