Chapter 160 Banquet at Hongmen
the Johnson Group.
Tom was reporting to Armando about what happened at Atlantic Grill.
"Those two girls were hired on short notice. Someone told them to say those things in the restroom."
A clumsy and crude tactic.
Easy to trace. This kind of approach was very strange.
Just smoke and mirrors.
"They were all contacted online. We can't track down who's behind it."
What was the motive of whoever was behind them?
There's always a motive for doing anything.
Armando's eyes turned cold. Those two women mentioned him and Elizabeth - they were either targeting him or targeting Elizabeth.
He called first to tell Beatrix what they'd found out, so she wouldn't run into this kind of thing again.
After Beatrix hung up, she called Cecilia to complain. "Can you believe someone came up to me and said nonsense about Armando getting back together with his ex-wife? Are they sick or what?"
"Mom, tell me, should I find Armando a woman who's a good match for him? Sloane is still young, she won't mind if her dad remarries."
Cecilia was enjoying a spa treatment. Hearing Beatrix's words, she raised an eyebrow. "You think Armando will listen to you? Don't be silly."
How old was Beatrix, and still so clueless?
Beatrix was instantly shut down and had nothing to say. She changed the subject and asked about Emma. "Timothy's already back, how come we haven't heard anything about him and Emma?"
"You'll probably hear about it when you come to Tommy and Jane's 100-day celebration."
Cecilia was Manuel's wife, so she knew some things. After all, she was in charge of arranging the party.
Beatrix was shocked for a moment. "Won't that be really awkward for Elizabeth?"
Whether Elizabeth was embarrassed or not had nothing to do with Cecilia. Right after Cecilia finished talking with Beatrix, Emma called her.
"Emma, what can I do for you?"
"Cecilia, can you give me an invitation?" Emma asked softly while admiring the Robinson family's back garden.
Last time she returned to Silverlight City, she hadn't been able to talk with Timothy. She could only wait for Tommy and Jane's 100-day celebration and talk to him when he came back.
Cecilia didn't ask what Emma wanted a party invitation for. She said with a smile, "I'll have Zander bring it to you."
"Thank you."
Not long after Emma hung up, Zander brought over an invitation and gave it to her.
Emma smiled, took the invitation back to her bedroom, and got out a pen to write Elizabeth's name.
After writing the name, Emma looked at it, put the invitation in an envelope, wrote an address, and sent the letter to the Sutter family first. Her mother Ophelia would understand what it meant.
Emma called a servant over. "Help me mail this out."
Jason came to the European-style villa.
He hypnotized Elizabeth again.
Hypnosis wasn't all-powerful like on TV. He could only give her a kind of psychological suggestion and guidance.
When Elizabeth woke up again, Jake was holding her hand, his lips curved in a smile. "We're going to the hospital for a checkup tomorrow."
She frowned, her mind went blank for a moment. After recovering for a bit, her mood relaxed slightly. She smiled and replied, "Okay."
When she smiled, she was charming and attractive, without the coldness of recent days. Mentioning the checkup, she was very happy.
Jake's eyes flickered, and he let go of her hand.
"I'll read to the baby."
Whenever he had time, he would read to the fetus in Elizabeth's belly. It had become somewhat enjoyable.
If his Annie and their child were still here, he would probably do this kind of prenatal education every day too.
Jake smiled coldly, the expression fleeting.
Every time Elizabeth heard Jake reading difficult medical books, she wanted to sleep.
Just as Elizabeth was about to fall asleep, Mabel video-called her.
Elizabeth raised her chin, indicating that Timothy should leave first. After Jake left, she smiled and video-chatted with Mabel.
Mabel looked at Elizabeth carefully. "Elizabeth, your face seems a bit rounder."
Elizabeth said, "I've been eating too well lately and not exercising."
With days of eating and sleeping, it would be strange not to gain weight.
"Let me tell you, the Robinson family has already sent out invitations to people from all circles to come to Tommy and Jane's 100-day celebration next month. They're making it really grand."
Mabel pouted and said angrily, "Why isn't Mr. Robinson stopping this?"
Elizabeth was also puzzled by this question. "I'll ask him what he's thinking later."
"You should definitely ask about this. Also, I'm flying to Harmony City in a couple of days to stay for a while. My parents come to the Robinson family to find me every so often. Last time they came, they secretly gave me pills for men's stamina. I almost died of anger."
Mabel's face turned red with anger just thinking about it.
And Emma and Cecilia happened to be there and heard it too.
Elizabeth was silent.
Mabel's parents Jerald and Arabella were really unreliable. No wonder Mabel didn't want to go back to Border Ridge City.
"Then when you go to Harmony City, I'll come visit you when I'm free."
After chatting for a while, they hung up.
Elizabeth stared at the phone in a daze for a moment, then put down her phone and shouted directly toward the study, "Mr. Robinson, come out. We need to talk."
With Elizabeth's loud voice, Jake in the study knew she was going to give him trouble.
He was speechless.
He slowly walked out with a smile. "What's wrong?"
"Come sit down. Let's talk." After Timothy sat down, Elizabeth brought up Tommy and Jane's 100-day celebration.
"No rush. We'll also go to Border Ridge City next month. My father is very stubborn. He won't agree to cancel the celebration."
Manuel had been strong-willed his whole life. He wouldn't easily change decisions he'd made.
Elizabeth looked at Timothy suspiciously. "You don't have any plan?"
Jake said openly, "I do. When the time comes, I'll just present a paternity test at the party."
Elizabeth was instantly speechless.
Two days after this topic about the 100-day celebration passed.
Elizabeth received a letter in the morning.
Timothy walked in from outside and gave her a letter. "Elizabeth, your mail."
"Strange, who sent this letter?"
Elizabeth put down the remote control, took the letter, and tore open the envelope.
Timothy sat beside her and saw her pull out an invitation from the envelope.
The invitation was elegant and tasteful. She opened it to look.
This was an invitation for Elizabeth to go to Border Ridge City to attend Tommy and Jane's 100-day celebration.
After reading it, Elizabeth stuffed the invitation into Timothy's arms. "What does this mean?"
Timothy opened it and glanced at the invitation, raising an eyebrow and saying casually, "It means what it says - you're invited to attend Tommy and Jane's 100-day celebration."
Elizabeth covered her belly, thinking. "Should I go?"
Jake showed a gentle smile. "What are you afraid of? Go ahead. I'll be there that day too. With me there, don't worry."
