Chapter 108 Introducing the Girlfriend

It was really unexpected to hear such a sudden confession.

Amelia smiled and said, "What's wrong with you today? We've been married for five years, we're an old couple now, why are you suddenly saying this?"

As she smiled, her eyes unknowingly became moist.

She raised her hand to wipe her eyes, looking at the tears on her fingers, she realized she had been waiting for this sentence for a long time. It was strange how a single sentence could cause such a strong physical reaction.

Ryan didn't answer her and just said, "I'll come pick you up tonight."

"No need, Emory will take me back. You canceling social activities for me all the time will affect your work," Amelia declined lightly.

"You're more important than social activities," Ryan hung up the phone.

Amelia lowered her eyelashes slightly and she was staring at the phone she had just hung up. She couldn't help but think of what he had just said. It turned out that "I love you" was such an important sentence.

It could make a person feel sweet both physically and mentally.

After calming down for a while, she suppressed the strange emotions in her heart. She opened the door and walked out, seeing Royce and Christopher standing at the counter.

On the velvet cloth of the counter, there was a Solnhofen Glass Vase.

Seeing her, Royce called out, "Amelia, come over here."

Amelia walked over and Royce carefully pushed the vase in front of her. He asked, "Do you know its origin?"

The Solnhofen Glass Vase is a vase from the early 19th century.

Its design was exceptionally exquisite, showcasing the superb skills of ancient glass craftsmen. The surface was inlaid with delicate patterns and designs, reflecting a deep understanding of nature and mythology. The glass texture of the vase was transparent and bright as if it captured the essence of light, which added a mysterious and luxurious atmosphere to the entire piece.

A few minutes ago, she heard Christopher mention retrieving this vase, and she had seen it in Carl's collection books when she was a child, so she naturally knew its origin. But Royce seemed to take another opportunity to show off his apprentice?

She smiled and said, "Mr. Greer, I've met Mr. Martin several times."

The implication was keeping it low-key.

Royce smiled and said to Christopher, "Look at my apprentice, others would want to show off in front of the real thing, but she keeps it low-key."

Christopher's lips curved slightly, "Her personality is quite like her grandfather's."

Amelia was shocked and looked at Christopher with slight confusion. Carl had been dead for many years andChristopher had just returned from abroad, how could he know Carl's personality?

Realizing he had slipped, Christopher explained calmly, "Mr. West became famous after his death, but his work style reveals a lot about his personality, so I know quite a bit."

Amelia reluctantly dispelled her doubts but still felt suspicious.

Royce gently pushed her in front of Christopher, patted her shoulder lovingly, and said, "Amelia, you will graduate sooner or later. Interacting more with Mr. Martin will help your future development in this field."

Amelia knew Royce was paving the way for her and she felt a surge of gratitude.

Christopher lowered his eyes, his cold and hard features showing a hint of gentleness, looking down at Amelia, "Mr. Greer, don't worry, even if you don't ask, I will help her."

Amelia suddenly raised her eyes, looking directly at him.

Noticing Amelia's reaction, Christopher said casually, "Ms. Smith has given me many works, it's only right for me to help you."

Amelia felt she owed him too much.

He not only appeared in her time of crisis, but he also always thought that many things were rightfully his responsibility.

Christopher continued, "It's not just about me helping you. After you graduate, you will be able to restore both ancient paintings and relief glass. By then, I will have to ask for your help."

Hearing this, Amelia felt much more at ease. She smiled, "Mr. Martin, you're too kind."

Christopher's eyes darkened slightly, "Just call me by my name in the future, Mr. Martin sounds too formal."

Although he said so, Amelia didn't dare to call him too intimately. With a jealous Ryan at home, who guarded against Christopher like a thief, she didn't want to upset him.

Royce, feeling neglected, coughed and said, "Amelia, take a good look at this Solnhofen Glass Vase, remember its shape, size, and the patterns on it. I really like this vase, I'll teach you how to make one later."

Amelia knew very well.

Recently, during her studies, she had demonstrated a lot of personal abilities, especially her quick memory. Royce clearly wanted to show off to Christopher.

Unable to do anything about it, she said softly, "Mr. Greer, I've already remembered the patterns, and size, including the mouth and the inscription at the bottom. I'll draw it for you later so you can make one."

Sure enough.

Royce patted her head approvingly and said to Christopher, "My apprentice is very talented and has a photographic memory. It's my luck to have her as my apprentice."

Amelia and Christopher exchanged a smile, understanding Royce's show-off but not exposing it.

Seeing Christopher smile, Royce became even more enthusiastic and said to Amelia, "In the future, when Christopher sends things over, you will restore them."

Amelia had only been learning restoration for just over two months. Hearing Royce say this, she felt a bit nervous. If she damaged something, there would be no way to save it. Generally, apprentices wouldn't be allowed to touch anything for less than three years.

Feeling she couldn't handle such important work, Amelia declined, "Mr. Greer, Mr. Martin came for your reputation, you should do it yourself."

But Christopher said, "It's okay, you can handle it in the future, I trust you."

Amelia paused, "I've only been learning restoration for just over two months, are you sure?"

Christopher continued, "Mr. Greer showed me the relief glass cup you restored recently, it was perfect. Just maintain that level. Restoration of antiques doesn't depend on the length of study. Some people work their whole lives and are still mediocre. But some people, like you, excel after just over two months."

Being praised, Amelia blushed and agreed reluctantly.

Royce had recently got some top-notch coffee and insisted on having Christopher try it, so Amelia joined them at the table.

They chatted and laughed, talking about antiques and everyday life.

Of course, most of the conversation was between Royce and Christopher. Amelia sat quietly on the side, pouring coffee for them and occasionally chiming in.

Royce took a sip of coffee, put down the cup, and asked Christopher, "Christopher, do you have a girlfriend?"

Christopher glanced at Amelia subtly and said lightly, "No, I'm single."

"You look so decent and are so outstanding, how can you not have a girlfriend?" Royce couldn't believe it.

He replied, "I have high standards."

Royce laughed heartily, "It's good for young people to have high standards, better to have none than to settle."

Christopher responded with a faint smile.

Royce stroked his beard and said slowly, "Coincidentally, I have a granddaughter named Sophia, she's also single, very beautiful and delicate. Would you like to meet her sometime?"
