Returning
Returning
Valerie and Marianne stepped out of the doorway which opened in the middle of Valerie's bedroom and instantly Valerie stumbled to sit on the bed.
"Lia, listen to me—" Marianne tried to speak but Valerie wasn't in the right mind to listen to anything.
"DID YOU KNOW?" She screamed at her, glaring at her heatedly. "Althea could sense it, you told me you sensed Adrian and Valerio's bond. Did you sense this too?" She asked pointing towards her belly.
Marianne's eyes teared up as she looked at her daughter helplessly, "little flower—"
"Oh, my god...." Valerie whispered, a tear sliding down her face as she took her head in her hands, unable to breathe properly, "you knew..." She whispered with her voice cracking up.
"I didn't know how you would react, Lia." Marianne whimpered, sitting down on the bed, facing Valerie as she tried to bring her hands down, "at first I thought that you already knew and I waited for you to tell me but then I realized that you hadn't been feeling the signs as of lately. And with everything that has already happened to you, I didn't want to add this too."
"As if it could be hidden from me, mom!" She shrieked, feeling angrier at herself for not being careful enough.
"I know, baby." Marianne whispered, "I know but I thought that I would visit you again and tell you then. I thought I had time. If only Althea hadn't been such a big mouth." She muttered under her breath.
Valerie didn't know what to feel about this.
Draven had made it extremely clear about how much he hated her and he would want nothing to do with the child. He wouldn't support her, if she decides to bring the child into the world.
"Valerie, please don't cry, you're going to fall sick." Marianne whispered, "I'm so sorry this is happening to you."
"I don't understand, mom...." She cried out, "I don't understand what I did wrong to have so many complications in my life. I don't understand who I offended that everything just looks like a series of disasters, one after the other. I don't get it!"
"I don't know what the Fates planned for you, love. I don't know why things have to be this way." Marianne said taking Valerie in her arms as she kissed her head. "I hope that it will make sense soon, have some faith, baby."
"How am I supposed to have faith when everything just keeps falling apart?" Valerie spoke, afraid out of her mind. "There is a war that is about to happen with John's pack. Dragary needs to be cleaned up. There are so many things that need to be sorted and how could I have been so stupid as to get into this bloody situation?" She muttered, running her hand through her hair as she pulled back.
She couldn't believe that in their emotions, Valerie and Draven had been so careless so as to get into a situation like this. She was more than certain that he wouldn't want to do anything about the child since he doesn't even wish to see her face again.
His hateful words kept roaming in her head as she wiped away her tears but couldn't stop the despair that was now clouding her thoughts.
"Come on, lie down for a while. You haven't had proper sleep." Marianne coaxed, cupping her face as she wiped away the remnants of her tears.
"I wouldn't be able to rest even now, mom." She whispered.
Marianne sighed, "come on, let me help you. I promise things will make sense soon."
Valerie reluctantly nodded her head before she shifted back against the headboard of the bed and laid down while Marianne began to softly run her fingers through her hair, gently caressing her scalp in hopes of comforting her.
She couldn't see her daughter in so much pain. She wanted to create happy memories for Valerie but Marianne couldn't help but feel helpless because of the sadness which seemed to always shroud her daughter's life.
"Draven said he hates me." Valerie whispered. "He wouldn't want to be a part of my life, or the child's, if I decide to bring it into the world."
"He could change his mind, Lia." Marianne said in a soothing voice, "he is emotional right now, too emotional. He isn't thinking straight. He'll come around." She told her, wanting to believe in the best for Valerie.
Valerie shook her head, "you didn't see the way he was looking at me, mom." She whispered, "he does love me still, but he would never accept me as a part of his life again and I don't want to be a burden on him, I don't want my child to grow up as a burden."
Marianne pursed her lips together, wanting to control herself from going wherever Draven was and smacking some sense into his dead brain.
Her daughter didn't deserve to be treated in such a manner. She didn't deserve to be in so much pain over a boy who clearly didn't know what he had lost.
"In that case, love, he does not deserve you and if you wish to raise this child then I will be by your side, helping you, no matter what." Marianne whispered tenderly to her.
However, before Valerie could say anything else, the door of her room burst open and Valerio stepped inside with a worried expression on his face.
"Val, where have you been, all morning—" he stopped dead in his tracks when he found Valerie lying in her bed and Marianne sitting beside her with a small smile on her lips.
