A Child???
A Child???
"Hi, sweetie, were you having a good time?" Marianne asked, kissing Valerie's cheek.
Valerie nodded her head, "yeah, I was just talking to—" she turned back around to gesture to the God but found his seat empty and there was no sign of him anywhere near them. "Nevermind, he's gone now." She said huffing slightly.
Marianne smiled, "well, I hope that you weren't bored while I was gone."
Valerie shook her head, "no, of course not." She said smiling at her before a small frown appeared on her lips, "but do you think that we can go back? I would like to get back home since things are a little sensitive there right now."
Marianne nodded her head but still couldn't help the saddened expression that appeared on her face, "of course, darling. Anything you say." She whispered, gently brushing her cheek, trying not to cry.
Valerie felt her heart warm at that as she instantly threw her hands around her mother's neck, "oh, mom!" She breathed, feeling Marianne holding her as well, "we can meet soon, I promise. I wouldn't have wanted to leave if things hadn't been so messed up back home."
Marianne nodded her head, kissing the side of her face, "of course, princess, I know. But, take care of yourself okay? And even though I cannot help you, but know that you will always have my blessings with you."
Valerie smiled through her tears, "I know mom. I know."
They stood like that for a few more moments before pulling away as Marianne wiped away Valerie's tears and then her own, as the women chuckled at each other.
"Come on, let's get you back." She stated, taking Valerie's hand just when they came across Althea.
"Oh, are you already leaving?" The Spring Goddess asked with a surprised expression, looking at Valerie.
Valerie smiled and nodded her head. "Unfortunately, I have some things to get back to." She said with an exhausted expression.
Althea smiled, coming in to hug Valerie, "well, it was good to have you here." Valerie was grateful to get such good treatment from the gods, "and congratulations on your baby, I hope that your child is born healthy."
And that was enough for the sky to come crashing down at Valerie as she looked at the goddess with wide eyes while Marianne looked like she had just seen a ghost.
"Excuse me?" Valerie blurted. "A child?"
Althea looked at her dumfounded, "the child in your womb, Valerie. You know you're pregnant, right?" The Spring Goddess asked before Marianne glared at her.
"Al, you've said enough." She breathed.
Althea's eyes widened as she looked between the women.
"Oh, no, I am so sorry...." Althea whispered, finally realizing her mistake as Marianne didn't let Valerie reply before she instantly placed her hands on Valerie's shoulders and dragged her away.
