Chapter 139 Genora Graham

Chapter 139 Genora Graham
Dandelion's pov.

"It's a girl!" The doctor said in excitement.

I fell back into the pillows, gasping for air, my heart hammering a chaotic rhythm.

Alex let out a choked, sob of pure joy before he collapsed his head into the space beside me.

"Dandy," he whispered, his voice trembling as he kissed my temple. "She's here."

They cleaned her up quickly and placed her against my chest. She was tiny, red and very soft.

"Oh....hi my love. We’ve been waiting for you for so, so long" I whispered, caressing her head.

She had very full dark hair, and it was damp and pressed to her forehead as if they had used gel on it, when she opened her tiny eyes, for a fleeting second, I saw a flash of green iris.

My God, she was perfect, beautiful and ours.

Alex reached out, his hand hovering, afraid to touch her, before he finally brushed his finger against her cheek. "Hi, baby girl."he whispered, his voice breaking. "You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,"

I looked at him, he was completely consumed by the fierce, gentle love of a father.

"We did it," I said, as I felt tears of happiness and exhaustion rolling down my cheek.

He leaned over, pressing his forehead to mine, his eyes never leaving our daughter. "Yes we did."

..............

Alex's POV.

I felt tears streaming down my face as I watched our baby, I didn't care about how I looked or feel ashamed, I was completely oblivious of everyone else in the room.

I was just a new Dad, standing in the presence of my precious baby. I reached out and brushed my index finger against the baby's tiny hand.

Her fingers were soo small and curled tight like rose petals.

I looked at Dandelion, her face was flushed and glowing with exhaustion.

"What should we name her?" I asked.

"Her name is Genora Graham." She said as she brushed her finger on the baby's hair.

I smiled.

"Let me guess, a combination of Genevieve and Flora, right?" I asked.

She nodded back at me, "Yes, she represents both our moms."

"Genora,"I called tasting the name, it felt perfect on my lips, as my gaze fixed on the baby, "It’s perfect."

The doctor smiled, stepping forward. "Dad, would you like to hold her?"

I froze.

Firstly it felt weird being called Dad, and secondly, .my baby girl looked so fragile and tiny wrapped in a blanket.

And I was terrified. What if I was too rough with her? Or what if I dropped her, God knows I would never forgive myself.

I started protesting.

But Dandelion caught my worried look and guided my arms. "It’s okay, Alex. Just support her head. Like this."

I finally oblige and gently collected her, When I finally felt the weight of her in my arms, it felt like the world stopped moving.

She was almost weightless in my arms. I looked down into her tiny face, and for the first time in years I understood what it meant to be complete.

Her little fingers clenched tightly around my index finger. She gripped it with a strength that stole my breath.

I broke completely. I didn't just cry; I wept.

It's been ages since I cried like this, but I couldn't help myself, I just sank myself gently into the chair beside the bed, holding our daughter and sobbing into the crook of her blanket, while Dandelion watched.

We were finally three.

...............

Author's pov.

Meanwhile outside, the hallway had been chaotic for hours.

Grandma winifred had been pacing nervously, her cane which she barely had to use unless she was standing for too long clicked against the tile over and over again.

Nicholas, Tristan, Lilian, and Xavier tried to keep her from breaking into the delivery room.

Soon a nurse came out to finally deliver the good news.

"Baby Graham is here, it's a girl!"

The energy in the waiting room shifted from nervousness to excitement.

Lilian squealed and jumped up excitedly.

And Grandma Wini felt like she would burst with happiness.

Immediately the nurse opened the door, Grandma Winifred was the first inside.

She looked soo eager to see the baby, and when her eyes landed on the bundle Alex's arms, her mouth widened and closed back, then her lips trembled Like a toddler who was about to burst into tears.

She walked over slowly, her hands shaking as she reached out to touch the baby’s cheek.

"Oh,"Noona breathed, a soft, broken sound. "You inherited Flora’s green eyes, just like your father. She would have loved you so much, my little darling."

Then she looked up at Dandelion and smiled happily. "You’ve made this old woman so happy. I can die peacefully now."

Everyone immediately turned to Noona in fear.

"Don't you dare, Noona," Alex quipped. "Genora needs her great-grandma. She needs someone to teach her how to be as strong and stubborn as you are."

Grandma winifred chuckled, dryly. "Then I suppose I'll stick around a while longer."

They all laughed heartily.

One by one, they all crowded around Alex who was still holding the baby.

The guys were soo mesmerized to see the little being,

"Alex she really does have your eyes." Tristan said in awe.

Xavier shook his head in awe still unable to understand how the little girl managed to look like both parents, "Genes are soo crazy." Hey muttered.

"Honestly I would freak out, if I saw a mini version of me." Nicholas whispered, feeling chills all over his body.

They laughed at his dramatic gesture.

Meanwhile Lilian had been silently crying and wiping her eye, "Dandy I'm taking this angel with me."

Dandy laughed heartily, "She's all yours Lily."
