Chapter 328 Not Allowed to Think About Other Men
Chapter 328 Not Allowed to Think About Other Men
Frederick arranged his work and continued recovering at home.
Three days later, feeling much better, he took Xandra to his company.
Xandra made a formal appearance in front of the employees.
Anya had just returned from a business trip with Donald, the general manager.
When she saw Frederick arrive at the company with Xandra, her face clearly fell.
But with Frederick present, she didn't have a direct confrontation with Xandra at the company, and even called her "sister-in-law."
Frederick summoned Donald to the CEO's office for a private meeting.
Besides asking about work progress, he also asked about Anya's current situation.
Donald said, "Ms. Bellamy is still very dedicated to her work."
Frederick replied, "That's not what I'm asking about."
What he wanted to know was about their personal progress in private.
Donald fell silent for a moment. "She doesn't have feelings for me, but I won't give up. I remember Mrs. Flores said I should give myself a time limit. During this time, I'll do my best to treat her well. I'll do everything I can to win her over, but if it doesn't work out in the end, I'll walk away."
Hearing this, Frederick raised an eyebrow slightly, glanced at Xandra who was quietly sipping tea, then nodded.
"Got it. Go ahead with your work."
Donald nodded and respectfully left.
After the door closed, Frederick sat down beside Xandra. "Honey, you told him that?"
Xandra took a sip of tea and set down her cup.
"Donald's such a great guy—he definitely won't have trouble finding someone else. I just don't want him to keep chasing something that isn't going to happen."
She was the one who encouraged Donald to pursue Anya.
But she also knew that chasing someone who loved another man was just asking for heartache.
He could end up throwing away the best years of his life for nothing.
If Donald kept wasting time on Anya, she couldn't bear it.
"You're right."
Frederick agreed, then stood up. "Alright, let's go."
"Leaving already?" Xandra was a bit surprised.
She figured this workaholic, being gone so long, would want to spend the whole day there.
"You hardly ever come to Valcouraine, and I haven't shown you around yet. Let me take you sightseeing today." Frederick said.
So he wanted to take her out to have fun?
Xandra was naturally happy, but worried about his health.
After all, he'd only had a week to recover from his concussion and wasn't fully healed yet.
"Honey, are you sure you're up for this?" she asked.
Frederick raised an eyebrow and pulled her into his arms, his slender fingers playfully lifting her chin.
"Worried about me? Why don't we skip going out and do something much more fun instead?"
He wanted to prove he was fine.
Xandra found it amusing and slapped his hand away. "Let's go."
"Sure you don't need proof?"
"Hurry up!"
...
Over the next week, Frederick took her to several famous tourist spots in Valcouraine.
Xandra followed him, contentedly playing the role of a devoted little wife.
They watched fireworks fill the sky, tried thrilling surfing, ate at the most expensive local restaurants, stayed at the most romantic seven-star hotels...
They looked like they'd been madly in love for years—laughing, teasing, and totally happy.
Until Richard called asking if they were coming back home.
Because his eightieth birthday was approaching.
Only then did they decide to return home.
The night before returning home, they went to the small bar Rachel owned.
Though called a small bar, it was actually quite large.
By seven in the evening, it was already packed with people.
Rachel specially arranged a private room on the second floor for them.
From there, they could overlook the entire bar.
"There'll be a band performance later. You two just enjoy yourselves, I'll go mix some drinks for you," Rachel said.
"Thanks, Mom." Xandra smiled with her eyes crinkling.
"No need to be formal with me."
Rachel wore a black sequined bodycon dress.
Her voluminous waves cascaded loosely over one shoulder, and she moved with effortless elegance.
Xandra thought of her dad and felt a bit regretful, resting her chin on her hand.
If it weren't for Vivian's scheming, would Rachel and her dad be close to getting together?
"What are you thinking about?"
Frederick had one hand on the back of the sofa, with two buttons of his shirt undone, revealing his delicate collarbone.
His sitting posture was lazy and casual.
"Thinking about my dad." Xandra blurted out.
Frederick raised an eyebrow and pulled her into his arms.
"Don't think about other men."
Xandra laughed. "That makes no sense."
Frederick's slender fingers gently stroked her cheek. "Honey, tell me, who's most important in your heart?"
His tone carried a hint of coaxing.
Xandra's eyes shifted, and she smiled. "You need to ask? Of course it's..."
Meeting the man's expectant eyes, she suppressed a smile and continued, "My three children."
Frederick's smile faded, with an expression that said he knew it.
In her heart, no one was more important than her three children.
Thinking of those three adorable kids, his eyes deepened.
Some things should be resolved.
"What are you thinking about?"
Seeing Frederick suddenly silent, Xandra asked.
"I'm thinking about how to make you put me on the same level as the kids," Frederick said.
Xandra couldn't help but laugh. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his lips to comfort him.
In her heart, he, the children, and her parents were all equally important.
Frederick felt Xandra's appeasement, his eyes deepening, and asked a question.
"Honey, if the kids wanted your family of four to reunite, what would you do?"
During the half month here, Xandra video-called the kids almost daily.
Elizabeth and Margaret mentioned Lucas many times, so clearly they liked him very much.
If one day they wanted the family of four to reunite, and Xandra had said the children were most important in her heart. Would she then follow the children's wishes and be with Lucas?
Xandra understood Frederick's concern.
She said, "First of all, your assumption doesn't hold. Because the children are all well-behaved and sensible, they wouldn't ask me to do that. Secondly, I don't like Lucas. Even if the children had that idea, I would convince them and make them drop it."
Hearing this, Frederick smiled with satisfaction.
He pulled her into his arms. "Really?"
"Yes, truer than real gold."
"Kiss me once, and I'll believe you."
Xandra obediently kissed his lips.
Frederick, in a good mood, held the back of her head and took control.
When Rachel came in with two cocktails, she saw the young couple kissing intimately.
She cleared her throat lightly and placed the glasses on the table.
"Here, if you get thirsty from kissing, have a drink to wet your throat!"
Then she left.
Xandra was so embarrassed she wanted to crawl into a hole.
She made a fist and pounded Frederick's solid chest.
"It's all your fault!"
Frederick smiled, unconcerned.
"Honey, look at where we are. There are plenty of people more wild than us. My mom is used to it."
Xandra glared at him. "How is it the same?"
Frederick replied, "How is it different? We're all people."
His slender fingers mischievously teased her sensitive spots, wanting to continue what they'd started.
"Honey, don't be uptight! Be good, let me kiss you."
Calling her uptight?
Xandra scoffed and refused to let him have his way, dodging his wandering hands and heading toward the door.
Frederick chuckled. "Honey, where are you going?"
"I'm going to find Mom!"
Frederick fell silent.
Finding Mom again?
How old was she?
"Honey, are you still not weaned?"
Xandra ignored him, opened the door and was about to leave.
At that moment, someone was about to knock on the door.
