Chapter Two-Hundred and Fifty-Two
Chapter Two-Hundred and Fifty-Two
Hawkins went on, “With Jenson out of communication and you setting up cameras, he might link that together and come looking around. We don’t need that before a possible cartel hit. And we sure as hell don’t want him to link us to that hit either.”
“Maybe we should warn the cartel?” Cat suggested.
“I’ll bet Hondo could contact them, maybe he could stop it from happening,” Wren suggested. “Ronnie can’t afford to have anyone finding out he’s been running dope from here."
Hawkins shook his head. “Naw, if we told them we were gonna shut Ronnie down, they might warn him. Then his bunch would be on us like ants on white sugar.”
Kota agreed, “We can handle ourselves, but if we remain invisible in this, all the better.”
“So we have to do this on our own. With no cartel help,” Cash explained. “And we should. This is our town. We protect it and the people who live here.”
JuJu was watching his monitor then he looked up and said, “Our guest is awake and I don’t think he’s happy.”
Hawkins nodded and grinned at him. “I don’t imagine he is. Turn on the ears. Let’s see what that little bitch is bitching about.”
JuJu flipped the sound on.
Immediately, they all heard Jenson swearing, “What the fuck is this? Untie me, fuckers. Why the hell am I in a cell? Where is this place?”
London sighed. “Well, gentlemen, that’s my dad. This bumbling, booze-soaked moron is my father.” She raised her hands up and waved them. “Yippee.”
Hawkins shook his head. “No worries that he will know about you or your little brother. We will make sure he never knows about you. He won’t get very far but he can spout and sputter all he wants. Ok, let's go down there and talk to him then.” Hawkins moved down the hallway.
The men followed him.
Jenson glared at them as they came down the stairs. He shook his head and snorted. “Oh, it’s the karma guys, I was wondering where you went.” Holding up his tied hands he snapped, “What the hell is this? Untie me.”
Hawkins shook his head. “I don’t think so, asswipe.”
Jenson glared at him. “Do you have any idea who I am?”
Hawkins nodded. “Yeah, we know who you are. You’re Nathan Jenson Dalton. A scumbag liar, a cheater, and everything we abhor. We know all about you.”
“Then if you know who I am, you’d better think twice about leaving me here.” Jenson sneered at him. “I’m not someone you can treat badly.”
Hawkins snorted. “You think we’re treating you badly?” He leaned his head back and laughed.
Glaring at him, Jenson just huffed out air as he looked pissed.
Hawkins kept chuckling. “Buddy, you ain’t seen nothing yet if you think you’ve been mistreated.” He paused, then sniffed the air and said, “Whew, Mr. Budweiser, you stink to high heaven. Maybe we should be hosing you down, clothes and all.”
“How dare you?” Jenson growled.
Hawkins leaned a little closer and snapped, “How dare we? How dare you? You’re supposed to be a representative of this town and you reek of stale beer. You've been drinking on the job or what?”
Jenson just glared at him but he didn’t say a word.
Hawkins leaned forward again, stared the man right in the eyes and said, “Or are you still drunk from yesterday? If that’s true, you’ve got a real problem.”
“I think he’s still drunk from yesterday,” Kota spoke up. “When we saw his house, he must have hung on a good one. There were beer cans all over the place and it's only midweek too. Shame on you Jenson, just shame on you. And then there’s the fact you came home in almost the middle of the day. You don’t work a fucking full day anymore?”
“Shut your filthy mouth.” Jenson glared at him. “What I do and how many hours I work is no one else’s business. I don’t answer to you or anyone.”
Hawkins nodded then said in a cold steady tone, “Yeah, you may not think so Jenson, but you will answer to us. You will answer in little or no time at all.”
Jenson just glared at him but something in Hawkins' voice gave him the shivers. He tried not to show it but Hawkins knew.
Titan and Kota knew as well.
“You wanna tell us something there, Jenson?” Hawkins asked.
Jenson frowned. “What would I want to tell you? I don’t even know you.”
“Oh, but we know you, don’t we?” Titan told him.
“What does that even mean?” Jenson sneered.
“It means we’ve been watching you,” Hawkins replied. “And we don’t like what we’ve been seeing.”
Jenson snorted. “And just what have you been seeing?”
“You got some pretty interesting friends, don’tcha?” Hawkins asked.
“What the hell do you know about my friends?” Jenson scowled at him.
“We know a lot about you.” Kota nodded. “Like who the fuck is Ronnie? He seems to think you owe him. What do you owe him? You got some backroom deals going that nobody else knows about?”
“Maybe you aren’t the upstanding city official you claim to be?” Titan suggested. “What are we going to find when we start digging?”
“Why would you be digging?” Jenson scoffed. “You all are the ones who are shifty here. Kidnapping me from my home and all. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Hawkins snorted. “Yeah, I’ll bet you don’t. But you will, along with the rest of this town. Just how far down in the mud did you crawl, Jenson? How much dirt are we gonna find?”
“Fuck you!” Jenson yelled. “I’ve been on the city council for fifteen years and I’ve been doing my job.”
“So who is Ronnie?” Hawkins asked out of the blue.
Jenson went pale and he looked even more nervous but he tried hard not to show it. “How the hell am I supposed to know?” He licked his dry lips. “Without a last name, I can’t tell you who he is.”
“Hmmm, well he’s been texting your phone and he doesn’t sound happy.” Hawkins held up Jenson’s phone and then lowered it to read his texts aloud, “Where the hell is she? Have you found her yet? I paid you good money and she’s mine.” Hawkins scrolled a bit more and continued, “I need everything in place in the next few days or our plan is going to hell and I’m not going down alone, you bastard. You better be in place tomorrow morning or I’m coming after you and I’ll drag your ass right down the Main Street.” He again paused to scroll some more and read the last one, “You better not let me down or hell is coming here and it will burn down this no good town.”
Hawkins looked over the top of the phone at him. “Now suppose you tell us what this all means?”
“Suppose you go to hell?” Jenson remarked sullenly. “I don’t have to tell you shit.”
Hawkins smirked at him. “Maybe not but I have a feeling you will tell us soon enough.”
