"Damn it!" Dave threw a ceramic display in his office and it shattered into pieces. The man had just attended a meeting with the shareholders and almost all of them were complaining about Dave's performance. Some of them even openly compared Dave to Arthur. If within a certain period of time Dave still didn't have a good effect on the company, the shareholders threatened to remove Dave from leadership.
"That damn Arthur is no longer here, but why do so many people keep mentioning his name? What's so great about him?" Dave again turned the object on his desk into an object of venom. In no time at all, the man's workspace became a complete mess.
"Oh my, what are you doing?" Eve, who had just entered Dave's study, couldn't hide her surprise. In the past few days, Dave has often been angry, but never to the point of destroying office items like this.
Dave turned to Eve and immediately looked the other way. He really didn't want to argue with her.
"Do you think by destroying things like this, all the problems will be solved, huh?" Eve asked Dave. The woman seemed to be massaging her temples, really stressed out about Dave these days.
"Shut your mouth or you'll get thrown too," Dave half threatened.
Eve stared intently at the man. So far, Dave had only issued threats, never actually attacking her. However, Eve still had to be wary, because the man in front of her was a half-crazy man.
"If you continue like this, there will be many adverse testimonies the next time the shareholders actually hold a meeting to remove you from your position." Eve warned.
Dave growled in annoyance. This time his target was the files on his desk. Whether they were important files or not, Dave tore them all with great passion.
Eve could only shake her head at that. The longer it went on, the more regretful she felt that she had been tempted to betray Arthur for Dave.
Eve used to be tempted by the passion that Dave showed her. She felt that Arthur was too boring. She even agreed when Dave asked her to have a secret affair behind Arthur's back, even to the point of planning to control all of Arthur's assets together.
Then after everything worked out, Eve realized that she had chosen the wrong path. Dave immediately broke his promise by not giving her the share she was supposed to receive. The man argued that they had to get married first, then Eve would receive her share. However, Dave is still not sure when he will marry Eve. In fact, the man was secretly dating several women behind Eve's back, which of course Eve eventually found out about.
That is why Eve also changed course. She approached Arthur Wang whom she met by accident and wanted to use him as a tool to get rid of Dave. Of course, she never thought that Arthur Wang was actually Arthur Greens, the man she betrayed. Eve also doesn't realize that she herself is slowly getting entangled in Arthur Wang's game.
Seeing that Dave was a little calmer than before, Eve approached the man, wanting to pretend to be comforting so that Dave would not suspect that all this mess was because of her.
"Calm yourself down, Dave. There's no point in you acting like this. It's only going to make people think worse of you." Eve said while gently rubbing Dave's shoulder.
Dave let out a rough breath while glancing at Eve's hand that was touching his shoulder. Considering that Eve had betrayed Arthur before, of course he also had fears that Eve would betray him in the future as well.
"Instead of continuing to feel upset about your failure this time, you'd better think about how to go forward so as not to lose any more important tenders. If necessary, you get a bigger project than the company has ever gotten so far." Eve added.
Dave turned around and faced Eve. He looked at her intently for a few moments. Eve herself became a little awkward getting such an unusual look from Dave, not knowing what the man was thinking.
"There is someone who has betrayed me. And he's the one who was near me," Dave said in a low tone.
Eve gasped. Her heart seemed to stop beating for a few moments, but she quickly regained her composure.
"What did you say?" Eve asked later, pretending not to understand what Dave had said.
"How did that loser Philip win the tender if it wasn't for getting information about our company beforehand? Someone must have betrayed him," Dave said again.
Eve sighed slightly. She thought Dave had found out that she had stolen important company data. Apparently he was just assuming. Although his assumption was right on target, it would only be a lie if there was no evidence to back it up.
"Who could possibly do that?" Eve asked provokingly.
"I don't know, I still can't be sure. But it seems to be one of the shareholders who still supports Arthur." Dave answered.
Eve just nodded her head, not intending to refute Dave's thoughts at all. It would be great if Dave continued to think that way.
"I'll take care of them right away. If I let them stay in this company, they will only be an obstacle to my path," Dave said again.
Once again Eve nodded in agreement.
"Yes, that's right. You need to get rid of the people who could potentially get in your way," Eve said.
Dave looked back at Eve with an unpredictable gaze. I don't know what was going through the man's mind at the moment. Slowly Dave's hand reached out to caress Eve's face and head. But then he suddenly pulled Eve's hair until Eve's face looked up slightly.
"What are you doing, Dave?" Eve protested as she tried to release her hair from Dave's grip, but to no avail. Dave tightened his grip even more, making Eve grimace slightly in pain.
"You won't leave me like you left Arthur, right?" Dave asked Eve with a scary expression.
"What?" Eve looked both scared and awkward.
"I'm asking you, Eve, you won't betray me, right?" Dave repeated.
"Of course not! What are you talking about?" said Eve as she tried to release his hair even harder. This time she succeeded. Eve's hair managed to escape the grip of Dave's hand, although of course it became a bit messy.
"Are you out of your mind? Why are you acting like an insane person like this?" Eve asked angrily. The woman's face even turned red as she endured the pain of her hair being forcefully pulled.
"Ah, shit!" Dave swore harshly. Lately he couldn't control his temper because he was under too much pressure. It was not uncommon for him to physically hurt Eve even though he had no intention of doing so.
"I won't be able to help it if you keep treating me like this, Dave. I don't want to be your punching bag every time you feel unhappy about something," Eve said again.
Dave looked a little emotional at Eve's words. He felt as if Eve was going to leave him.
"Don't even think about leaving me, Eve," Dave muttered in a half threatening tone.
"If you don't want me to leave, then treat me better." Eve replied boldly, although she was actually somewhat horrified at Dave's current expression.
Dave grinned and immediately enclosed Eve's body so that Eve could not move anywhere.
"I'd love to treat you well, Eve, but you're not a woman who likes to be treated well," Dave said.
"What do you mean, when did I say that?" Eve frowned.
"It wasn't very nice of Arthur to treat you, but you like me better, don't you? Therefore, I won't make the mistakes Arthur did," Dave said, grinning again.
Eve's goosebumps bristled at that smile. Right now, Dave really looked like a psychopath.
"Oh my God, can I really get away from this guy?" Eve muttered to herself. She really felt sorry for being interested in playing around with this insane man in front of her.
