New House

Arthur watched the interaction between Dave and Eve through the system screen. The man smiled wryly, then took the snack Liliana had given him the other day and popped it into his mouth bit by bit. He looked like he was enjoying a movie that had an interesting plot. Very exciting.

"This is just the beginning for you guys," Arthur said as he turned off the system screen via the watch he was wearing.

Arthur put his snack back down and got up from his seat. Today was the day he would be moving into his new residence. Joe had already provided a place for Arthur to stay. I wonder what Eve's reaction would be when she found out Arthur wasn't in the apartment anymore.

Just thinking about it made Arthur very excited. It would be a very enjoyable scene, just like the one he had seen on the system screen earlier. Arthur immediately got up and organized the few things he needed to carry.

After his moving preparations were complete, Arthur immediately contacted Joe and said he would be leaving soon. He asked Joe to send him the address of his new residence.

"I've sent you the full address via text message, Mr. Wang. You just need to ask for GPS guidance. I'll be waiting there." Joe informed.

"Alright, thank you very much," Arthur said before he ended the call. The man then dragged his suitcase out of the apartment and got into a car that also looked brand new.

The day before, Joe had also sent Arthur a car so Arthur didn't have to drive Eve's car anymore. Actually, the car Eve gave him was originally intended to be sold, but apparently Eve only rented the car, so Arthur only returned it to the renter. Apparently Eve had anticipated that if Arthur turned away from her, she wouldn't lose too much. Of course she was clever, otherwise Arthur wouldn't have been fooled by her in the past.

After traveling for a while, Arthur arrived at a beautiful luxury housing complex. It seemed that Joe was really committed to their partnership. Instead of providing an apartment for Arthur to live in, the man had provided a luxurious house that was still spacious enough for a family to live in.

"I've arrived." Arthur told Joe in a phone call as he arrived in front of the house whose address Joe had sent him earlier.

Arthur got out of his car, greeted by Joe who was currently wearing casual clothes. It looked like Joe had just finished playing golf before he came there.

"How are you, Mr. Philips? Sorry to disturb your vacation time with your family." Arthur immediately greeted while shaking Joe's hand.

"My news is good. How are you? I just happened to have finished playing, so I could come straight here. I didn't have time to change my clothes again," Joe said.

"Of course I'm also doing very well today. It doesn't matter what you wear. We're not in the office." Arthur responded.

"Then let's go in and have a look around," Joe invited.

Arthur nodded in agreement and immediately followed Joe into the house. He was a little surprised to find someone else in the house.

"This is Anne, she will take care of the house every day," Joe introduced the person to Arthur. A mature woman wearing the uniform of a servant. The woman couldn't be said to be young, but she didn't look old either.

Obviously Arthur was even more surprised and frowned slightly. Bringing in a servant was not mentioned in their previous agreement.

"I apologize if I brought in a servant without telling you about it first. But for a long time, Anne has been working in this house. The previous owner asked me to keep Anne because she needed a job," Joe explained.

"I will pay Anne's salary every month," Joe added.

"It's not about the salary, but I don't like being under the same roof as someone I don't know," Arthur said. In the current situation, he certainly couldn't trust people he had just met.

"For that matter, you don't need to worry, Pour Wang. Anne is a trustworthy and reliable person. I can guarantee that." Joe assured earnestly.

Arthur still couldn't believe Joe's words. He immediately connected himself to the system through the watch he was wearing.

Instantly the environment around Arthur came to a standstill. Arthur immediately checked whether Anne had any indication of a hidden crime or not.

"No irregularities were found. There are no evil thoughts and intentions. The object is confirmed to be an ordinary servant, not a spy." The system notified the results of its examination using a voice message.

"What about her identity and background? Is there any connection with Eve, Dave or Chloe?" Arthur asked again.

The system immediately scanned Anne's body and checked her background.

"Her identity and background are also clean. There is no connection with any of the names mentioned above." The system gave another answer.

Arthur nodded and pressed the off button on his watch, immediately disconnecting himself from the system. Time went back to the way it was.

"How about it, Mr. Wang? Are you willing to hire Anne?" asked Joe.

"Yes, all right. I hope she does a good job," Arthur finally said.

"Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to continue working, sir. I promise that I will work hard." Anne, who had been standing with a slight bow, bowed respectfully to Arthur. She had probably been worried all along, afraid that Arthur would not accept her.

"Very well. Please continue your work," Arthur said.

Anne bowed once more before walking away from Arthur and Joe.

The two men then resumed their walk around each corner of the mansion.

"This is too much, Mr. Philips. I just need a more modest temporary residence, not a luxurious one like this." Arthur voiced his objection.

"Think of it as my thanks to you, as well as a symbol of our cooperation. What you have done for me and my company means more than this. Please don't refuse, Mr. Wang," Joe pleaded.

Arthur could only sigh. If he insisted on not accepting the mansion, he was afraid Joe would feel offended. That would not be good for their future cooperation.

"Well, I will accept this house. Thank you very much for your generosity." Arthur had no choice but to accept Joe's gift. Not only because he didn't have a permanent place to live, but also because he was getting sick of being in contact with Eve.

After finishing looking around, Joe immediately excused himself because he still had other events to attend. The man's company is now indeed on the rise after he made a big breakthrough. And everything would never have happened without Arthur's help. That's why Joe really appreciated Arthur's existence at this time.

After Joe left, Anne came to Arthur who was cleaning up his belongings. The waitress asked Arthur what he wanted to eat for dinner.

"I eat anything as long as it's edible," Arthur said. That meant he wasn't picky about his food.

"Excuse me, sir. Could you name a more specific dish," Anne asked with a slight bow of her head.

Arthur sighed slightly. This would never end if he didn't give a definite answer.

"Please make me a simple meal," Arthur said.

"Do you like spaghetti?" Anne asked again.

"Yes, I told you that I can eat anything, including spaghetti," Arthur said.

Anne nodded and excused herself. Shortly after, the middle-aged waitress brought a tray with a plate of spaghetti for Arthur.

"Just put it over there," Arthur pointed to where to put the food.

Anne placed the food where Arthur had indicated.

"Please enjoy, sir," Anne said before retiring.

"Yes, thank you very much." Arthur replied.

It was only after Anne left that Arthur finished putting his things away. He immediately enjoyed the spaghetti that Anne had brought him.

"Her cooking is quite good. There's nothing wrong with me continuing to employ her," Arthur muttered after being indecisive about Anne's presence in the house.

Yes, maybe Arthur should get used to accepting other people's presence around him like before. After all, the system had also confirmed that Anne was not a dangerous person for him. He didn't need to feel worried even though he had to continue to be vigilant.
