Chapter 114 I Have to Find My Son

Chapter 114 I Have to Find My Son
Lulu
Despair crept through every joint in my body like a cold poison.
My Elijah. They’d taken him right from under my nose, dragging that tiny soul into unreachable shadows.
A howl of absolute anguish tore through my throat. My claws scraped violently against the rough stone wall where the portal had just snapped shut.
They had taken Elijah from me. I had to go after them.
I tried to force myself up with everything I had, but my knees were far too weak to hold my weight.
\[Lulu, get up!\]
Pyrrha’s voice bellowed through my mind. My fire wolf growled, burning away the icy numbness that was slowly trying to paralyse my soul.
\[Don't you dare give up! Our blood bond with Elijah is still there! He’s still breathing, and we’ll tear out the throat of anyone who hurts him!\]
A faint, warm rhythm from a mother’s soul bond thudded softly against my chest. Pyrrha was right. Elijah was still alive. I couldn't afford to break down now.
I scanned my surroundings through eyes blurred with tears and blood. The scene around me was an absolute nightmare.
Caspian was lying flat on his back not far from a shattered stone pillar, his wolf form slowly shrinking back into his human shape. His chest heaved unevenly as he groaned in agony—a brutal mix of battle injuries and the massive dark magic backlash from Vane.
Meanwhile, Dorian lay stiff on the ritual floor. My wolf senses could barely pick up his magic mana, which was fading fast. He was still breathing, but his eyes were fixed blankly on the ceiling, completely helpless.
Just as the darkness felt like it was swallowing us whole and the room’s defences were on the brink of total collapse, heavy, confident footsteps echoed across the rubble of the west door.
A man stepped into the room, radiating such a dense water elemental aura that the surrounding air instantly turned cool and damp. I figured he had to be Dylan, especially with Niobe right by his side, moving with sharp, efficient precision.
Without missing a beat, Dylan and Niobe took charge. Dylan rushed over to Caspian and Dorian, casting a protective water aura to neutralise the lingering dark energy burning through the room.
"Caspian, get onto your medical wolves, now!" Dylan ordered, his deep baritone booming across the room.
I picked up the heavy vibration of his Alpha Tone ringing through our mind-link frequency.
Moments later, Dr Allen rushed in alongside the healer wolves. Moving quickly, Dr Violet set straight to work examining the surviving wolf warriors who had been critically injured by Malphas’s attack.
On the other side of the room, Healer Sandra dropped to her knees beside me and Caspian. Soft green light glowed from her fingertips as she channelled healing magic into my bruised body and worked to stem the bleeding from Caspian's chest.
A soothing warmth washed over my skin, easing the sharp, stinging pain. We were nowhere near fully healed and my body still felt ridiculously heavy, but at least Caspian and I could sit up and move around a bit.
Niobe stepped over to Dorian, who was still completely incapacitated, and pulled out a small glass vial filled with clear liquid.
"Sorcerer Dorian, drink this," Niobe whispered, gently lifting his head. "It's a temporary vitality elixir. You need a mana boost before your magic completely dries up."
She asked Dylan to lend a small fraction of his high-level water elemental magic. Niobe absorbed the energy flow, touching the vial as Dorian downed it.
The deathly pale tint on Dorian's skin slowly began to fade. Niobe quietly warned him that he wouldn't be able to cast any heavy magic for the next few days.
Later that evening, once I felt strong enough to walk, I made my way down the pack house corridor toward Dorian's quarters.
My mind hadn't known a second of peace all afternoon. I couldn't even cry anymore—I was just utterly drained, haunted by the constant image of Elijah's face in my mind.
I pushed Dorian’s door open slightly; it had been left ajar. He was sitting on the edge of his bed, staring out the window with a worn, exhausted expression.
As I stepped closer, a strange sensation fluttered in my chest. My heart skipped a beat, feeling like a gentle, low-voltage electric shock humming beneath my skin.
Dorian turned his head, his eyes meeting mine with a restrained warmth.
He reached out and took my fingers softly in his. "Lulu…"
The touch of his hands brought a strange pulse of energy. Dorian, who was also far from recovered, narrowed his eyes as he made sense of the subtle buzz surrounding us both.
"You feel it too, don't you? That sensation... It's your soul bond and my protective spell that fused together over Elijah earlier today. There's a lingering trace of energy bound between our souls."
I swallowed hard, trying to keep a lid on the rising tide of emotion in my chest. "Dorian, how do we track Elijah down? Your tracking spell—"
"My tracking magic needs time to fully recharge, Lulu," Dorian cut in gently, his gaze dead serious. "Besides, Vane didn't leave a standard trail behind. He used a dimensional portal. Only a high-tier elemental mage can trace the residual radiation of that dark magic."
Dorian stroked the back of my hand before letting go. "Go and see Dylan. Caspian's brother has a level of water elemental power that’s almost unmatched. If anyone can track where Vane bolted to, it's him."
Following Dorian's advice, I headed down toward the Alpha's office. The heavy wooden door was slightly open.
I hovered hesitantly on the threshold, nervously wringing my fingers. A wave of awkwardness washed over me—I’d never actually spoken to Dylan directly before.
Through the crack in the door, I could see Dylan and Caspian standing over a map table.
Seeing the two of them side by side took my breath away for a moment.
They looked almost like identical twins—the same broad, commanding build, sharp jawlines, and an ancient, magical aura likely passed down through the Fontayne Bloodworth line.
The only dead giveaway separating the two was Dylan's hair, which was styled much neater compared to Caspian's more rugged, relaxed look.
"Come on in, Luna Lulu," Dylan’s voice called out warmly before I even had the chance to knock. A faint smile touched his lips as he welcomed me in.
Dylan glanced at his younger brother, throwing him a lighthearted, cheeky smirk.
"I have to say, Caspian... I never thought I'd see the day. The legendary arrogant, flamboyant Alpha of Sapphire Water, finally brought to his knees and totally wrapped around the finger of a female wolf like you, Lulu."
Caspian merely let out a soft huff, though a flicker of warmth glinted in his eyes as he looked at me.
Still, the light banter wasn't enough to settle the anxious knot twisting in my gut.
"Sorry about that, just trying to break the ice," Dylan added, softening his tone.
"I just... don't really know how I'm supposed to feel right now," I replied weakly.
My entire mind and soul were completely consumed by Elijah. Every second that ticked by without knowing where my baby was felt like a slow, excruciating torture.
Dylan picked up on the shift in my face and my quiet demeanour. His playful look vanished, replaced by genuine concern.
He stepped closer, his expression turning serious.
"Lulu," Dylan said softly, his voice showing he was ready to hear me out. "What brought you to see me this late at night?"
I took a deep, shaky breath, gathering every last drop of courage I had left to find my son.
