Chapter 2146 2156
Chapter 2146 2156
Liam and his group continued their ascent toward the surface. As they walked, Leo vented his frustration, muttering, "Damn it, that guy with the memory-eransing trick really gets on my nerves! Talking all high and mighty like some hotshot—I seriously wanted to plant two right hooks right across his face."
"You couldn't beat him," Stella reminded him dryly.
"I know that," Leo grumbled. "If I could actually take him, I'd already have gone over and introduced my fists to his jaw."
Frowning, he added with a hint of suspicion, "What the hell do those guys even mean anyway?"
"No idea," Liam replied, shaking his head. "We'll figure it out once we're back."
Leo muttered in thought before nodding. "Fair enough."
Even so, this expedition had yielded decent gains. While Liam and his core companions didn't plan on using the Creation Needles themselves, they would be immensely useful for others down the line.
Take Andy, for instance.
Andy's martial arts talent was practically nonexistent, putting him in roughly the same boat as Maxwell.
Maxwell had simply chosen to walk away from that path, relying on Herman to carve out a different route for himself. Andy, on the other hand, had carved out his own path as a sniper.
Yet, even as a sniper, facing increasingly formidable opponents meant he needed sufficient personal strength to keep pace.
His current sniper rifle could pose a real threat to Saint-Tier masters, and under specific conditions, its tactical value far outpaced even a standard Saint-Tier combatant.
The catch was that his weapon relied mostly on stationary ambushes. Saint-Tier masters moved at terrifying speeds; hitting a moving target demanded a devastatingly high level of personal kinetic ability from the shooter himself.
For Andy, relying solely on his own potential to break through into the Flame-Tier realm was already an insurmountable challenge.
If a Creation Needle could forcefully push him to the Flame-Tier, his combat utility would skyrocket to an entirely new level.
Liam just wasn't sure if Andy would ever manage to pose a genuine threat to Permanent-Tier powerhouses with it.
His ammunition was constantly being upgraded, and with this world's advanced technology backing them up, his firepower might improve. Even so, inflicting lethal damage on a Permanent-Tier master would likely remain an uphill battle.
Regardless, elevating him to the Flame-Tier would make his threat level against anyone below the Permanent-Tier practically unrivaled.
Of course, the exact limits would have to wait until Andy actually made the breakthrough.
Besides, the Night Watch had plenty of members. As time pressed on, a batch of them was bound to reach the peak of the Saint-Tier limit. When they inevitably hit a bottleneck, the Creation Needles would serve as an invaluable backup option.
All things considered, this trip had been well worth it. Liam himself had successfully crossed the threshold toward the Permanent-Tier boundary.
Stepping out of the ruins, the group finally exhaled a collective sigh of relief. Stella took the blueprints and keys straight to her grandfather, briefing him in detail on the remaining assets inside the facility.
Grandfather Stella was ecstatic!
Whether it was the Creation Needles or the cultivation pods secured behind locked doors, every single item was an astronomical windfall for the ancient clan.
If those cultivation pods could be successfully transported back and reverse-engineered by any clan members possessing mechanic-related characteristics, it would trigger a massive leap forward for the ancient clan's future capabilities.
Liam didn't plan on lingering much longer. After Stella wrapped up her discussions with her grandfather, the seven of them packed their gear and prepared to head out.
Roughly an or two later, an off-road hover-vehicle sat idling outside the ancient clan's base as Liam and his six companions walked out carrying their supplies.
Having secured the Creation Needles, the group intended to head back first.
As for whatever else might be hidden across Promise Island, that could wait for another time.
Of course, if luck was on their side, they planned to swing by Ben Marsh to check out the newly excavated research facility on their way back.
The site had only been exposed for a short window; with a bit of fortune, there was still plenty of salvageable tech up for grabs.
Just as Liam's group reached the entrance, his gaze landed on a familiar figure standing not far away: John was waiting there.
