Chapter Eighty-Eight
Chapter Eighty-Eight
Jason
As far as the doctor said, Liv was out of the woods. Our only concern right now is getting her to exercise mobility even if her muscles were sore. Her x-ray does not show any broken bones, only that they are swollen so it would take a while before she is fully healed. Which is why I'm in a hurry to get us all home.
I'm obviously not going to go before knowing that Desiree is awake. Live would kill me if I did that to her friend. But I just want to get my family to the safety of our home. I know the threat has been taken care of, Demitrius and I made sure to take care of that bit h who decided playing with our wives'lives was fun. I am just really over being away from home.
When I decided visiting them was a good idea, I didn't imagine what pain it would bring towards me and most importantly, my wife. Sometimes I wish I should have listened to her when she said we must go to Mountains View. I know my mind is obscured by thinking this, but I can't help it. One way or another something was bound to happen whether we came or not, whether we're home or in some other place.
It's been a full day since she's woken up. Her mother came to see her. She still doesn't want the kids to come in the room, we've tried convincing her to no avail at all. She says she is not ready, and neither are our children. We had to concede because we didn't want her feelings to go haywire especially because she just woke up.
When morning came, the following day Olivia was feeling better. She could walk around the room even if it wasn't for long. And her energy was not fully restored. So using the wheelchair we will have to desiree's room so that she could see her. From her facial expressions you could see that her heart was broken to see her friend in such a state. She had bandages rapped around her head. Which what's the reason she was not yet awake.
In the afternoon that day, Olivia finally wanted to see the babies. They were so happy to see her they cried. She decided that the cribs should be brought to her room so that she can sleep with them. That meant that I also had to sleep with her in the room which also made me extremely happy. I'd missed sharing a bed with her so much, just sleeping next to her made me very happy.
The next morning we woke up to news that Desiree is awake. When I spoke to Dimitri that morning z he told me that Desiree has memory loss. Her mind has blocked all events of the day they were taken. The doctors said it was too traumatic for her so her mind locked up everything. But eventually everything will come back to her.
When Olivia and I went to check on her she was happy to see her, but you could see that she wanted her to tell her what really happened. The doctors said that for now it was best she was left in the dark about what happened as to not damage her further. Olivia tried to talk about other things to distract her from asking further as best she could.
Her pregnancy was also not mentioned to her although she kept on asking. Everything was entirely messed up. Olivia was more sad for her because of it all. In the days that followed it was more of the same thing. We were running in circles around her to keep her from knowing the truth.
On the fourth day though, it seemed as though she knew what was going on. Demitrius said that it seemed like her memories were coming back. She asked questions as if she already knew the answers.
Olivia
"Just tell me the truth. I deserve it. It's my life." Desiree kept on saying.
I didn't fault her. If I was in her position I'd also want to know what is going on. I want to tell her so bad but I know that it's not my position to actually tell her. I'm hoping that one of these days her husband will put her out of her misery and tell her. And write then I promise myself that if by tomorrow morning they haven't told her then I'm actually going to break it down to her. It's only fair that she knows after all.
"What do you want to know exactly? There's nothing we're hiding." I've been defusing the situation for a while and it's not necessary working anymore.
"I know I lost the baby." She says and my face falls.
I feel a trickle of wetness on my face and I wipe away. I guess there is no way of denying anymore. I nod my head twice but don't say anything. There's nothing I can say anyway. I knew or had a feeling that eventually she'd figure out why there was no movement of the baby. For us it's instinctual. The movement of the baby in your tummy and the feeling you get.
"How is my husband taking it all?" She asked me.
"As well as he could I guess. When did you figure it out?"
"As soon as I woke up." She says looking down at her hands.
I said there watching her, wondering how she could keep something like this all to herself. I'm also asking myself if she let herself cry for the loss of her unborn child. She seems to have accepted it though. At that moment I note how strong she is because I know would not have survived. I stand up slowly and hug her.
"I'm sorry." I tell her and I feel her body shake as she cries. I continue holding her like that as she grieves the loss of her unborn. I hear the door open and I instantly know it'ser husband. When I look up at him I can see that he knows that she knows. I rub Des' back one last time then let her go so that her husband can come to her. I leave to give them privacy and head back to my room.
When I walk into my room, my chest is so tight that I immediately release a sob after I close the door. Jason walks to me and wraps me in his arms and guides me to sit on the bed and I cry.
