Chapter Eighty-Nine
Chapter Eighty-Nine
Olivia
I still couldn't wrap my head around it. I still couldn't believe that Desiree kept it to herself that she knew that she lost her baby. She still didn't know how she lost it, but she knew that she lost it. She said that it was the first thing that she realized when she woke up. She thought that maybe it was the reason that she was in the hospital.
It's been 2 days now since she told me that she knew, in the currently today she was going to be told about the day of the accident. I wish I was the one to tell her since I was the one that was with her. But I figure that her husband is the right one to tell her. Jason said he blamed himself that his wife lost her pregnancy, that even after speaking to him he doesn't want to let the guilt go.
I was discharged yesterday although we're still living in the hotel that will brought to. The doctors said that I'm good to go and Jason and I have decided that in the next coming week when Desiree is fine we are would be leaving. As much as I would like to stay a bit longer until Desiree is full healed I feel like I've overstate my welcomed in this country. Without seeing much of it I feel like I've seen everything there is to it. I will visit again next time.
"I have to go back tomorrow. Landon said he is struggling." My mother says.
"Honestly, one would think that he is the baby of the family." My mother laughs at my words.
"Well, you're the oldest now because you are the first to get married. Don't forget I still live with him too, so yes he the baby." She says.
"Of course he is." I laugh.
My mother has been here for now two weeks. She's helped me a lot especially when I call you do anything. I wish I could do something nice for her just to thank her but she said that she is my mother and she would always drop everything to help me. That made me appreciate her even more and solidified my wanting to do something for her.
"I will tell Jason to get the plane ready for you then." I tell her.
"Oh no that is not necessary. I will fly public and I've already spoken to him."
I'm surprised that she spoke to him before she spoke to me even though I know that she takes him more like a son than a son-in-law. She once told me that he is a good addition to our family. She really does love him and that means a lot to me.
"Oh ok. Then I guess I will see you at home."
"Take care of your friend while you're here. You're as good as her family." She tells me.
It's one of the reasons that I haven't left yet. With desiree's parents having passed on I feel a responsibility for her more of a sister than of a friend. It's also the fact that I know that if I was in the position that she is in she'd do the same for me. She means that much to me.
The day goes on and the next day I see my mother off to the airport. When I return Jason tells me that Desiree is being discharged to her home and that we would also be going to join them back at the house.
Ever since Dimitri told her what actually happened she's been asking me more and more questions about the day. Mainly she wants to know who the woman that had us kidnapped is. I think more than that she wants to know if she is still alive. Honestly I don't even know the answer to that I didn't ask Jason if she still is. But I have a feeling that she's not. And that is only because I know that our husbands are overprotective of us.
On the third day of us going back to Desiree and dimitri's house the staff was replaced. Which I thought was a good idea because none of us knew how deep a connection the was between that woman and the previous staff. It does sudden me because some people lost their jobs for no particular reason except for the sins of others.
Jason told me that half the bodyguards were also replaced. Apparently some of them were bought by one of the guards that were working for Dimitri. Apparently he was her brother. I do know that he is dead though.
I was sitting with Desiree in their room, because she's still couldn't walk alone. Her body was too battered to hold itself up. Sometimes should use a wheelchair but when she was too tired she just lay in bed.
"You no you don't have to stay here, right? You can go if you want to." She says suddenly.
"And what kind of sister would that make me?" I ask her.
"The kind that is married and misses her own house."
"No I'm not going anywhere. Not until I'm sure that you're ok."
It's not the first time we're having this conversation and I have a feeling that it's not the last time either. I also know that Dimitri has been saying the same thing to Jason. There's a tension around them that I just don't understand. Desire is not opening up to me which I find weird. I have a feeling though that she wants to take revenge for herself. She's been hinting that she wants to start training after she is healed.
"The doctors said it will be hard for me to get pregnant." She says after being quiet for a while.
It's normal now, we don't speak much or maybe she doesn't speak much anymore. She also has this thing of changing subjects and then keeping quiet for a while. It's like she's just passing time by talking. This whole thing has brought a total change in her demeanor and in her attitude. I'm hoping that this change in her is not permanent. And I hope that as Time goes she will be able to move back to how she was previously before the accident.
"It's still early for that. You still have to heal first."
"He doesn't touch me like before..." She says quietly. "... I feel like he blames me for it. He doesn't even share the bed with me anymore." A t at trickles down her cheek. I stand up and hug her.
"Babe he blames himself for that, not you. Have you guys spoken about it?"
"Everytime I try to he dismisses it. I don't know what to do anymore." She cries harder on my shoulder.
I now understand why there's so much tension between them. Their problem is that they both don't want to talk about it which I understand because it's still new and it hurts. After she comes down I tell her to get some sleep and then I head down to find Jason.
