CARA
I hand over the drugs to him and a glass of water . He tries to hold the glass cup but his hand is shaking badly .
"I'd help you pour some in your mouth , guess who the little baby is now ? " I say as I giggle and draw closer to help him use his drug .
"Thank you" he says trying to force a smile . This is the first time in ages I'll see Liam weak and vulnerable. He has always made extra efforts to be take charge of every situation. He takes a sip from the glass and hurriedly throws the drugs down his throat. He struggles to swallow them .
" I hope I never fall sick ever again." He mutters in frustration. I put a pillow at his back so he can sit a little upright for this food to digest.
"Cara I know I'd be asking for to much but please can you stay at my place till I feel better, let's say five to six days . " I go mute for minutes with my eyebrows raised.
"That's a lot Liam, 6 days is a really long time ; that's approximately one week. "
on a second thought, "I'd do that for you , I mean we're friends now . Friends help each other" I say.
Liam's phone rings and it's Mrs Johnson .
"Allow the phone stop ring , then send a text telling her I'm doing great , but I'm busy." He says as he tried to tuck himself under the duvet . I help to cover him properly with the duvet.
"I'm so grateful Cara , I promise to be a better person and a great friend " he mutters .
"Laura is going to be with her granny for four days , I'll miss her way too much " he adds looking somewhat sad .
Laura has been Liam's comfort and major source of happiness since he lost Fiona . "I'll try my best to be there for him as much as I can during this period" I thought to myself .
I get up and try to head downstairs to fill his cup with some more water from the dispenser , when I feel his soft yet firm hand hold my hand . " stay with me please, I need you close to me as much as you can be . I've had enough water to drink , when I'm thirsty/ dehydrated, I'll request for some water . For now sit close to me , while I hold you hands in mine ."
I stare at him as I look him in the eyes . He meant everything he just said . He looks at me with puppy eyes that scream "please Cara ".
"Okay , if this will make you happy and feel better, I'd stay . " I utter with a smirk on my face .
" It Certainly will, it'll make me super happy ".
"I love love the Chicken soup by the way, that's the best I've had in forever, even better than my mom's . He adds
" Thanks lovely " I respond as I giggle .
"You know, Laura has gotten so fond of you, she asked if she could call you mom the other day." "I love her company too, the last time we went to get ice creams and stopped by at the amusement park , I almost did not want to let you take her . We were having so much fun and bonding ." I say smiling ear to ear .
We both laugh and silence suddenly fills the air, you would hear a pin drop . Now Liam and I are staring into each other's eyes while still holding hands. I finally break the silence .
"Do you feel better that you were a few hours back ?"
"Yes I do, the body ache's gone and I no longer feel dehydrated, all thanks to you . My knight in shining Armor. "He responds.
We both laugh softly. I start to look round the room as I spot some picture frame at the right side of Liam's room .
"Can I take a look ? I ask Liam.
"Sure, why not ?"he says I gently slip my hands away from his' and walk to other side of the room to take a closer look . "You look way too cute here , such a charming little baby boy . He turns pink from blushing.
"Thanks sweet, I have always been handsome, breathtaking and stunning, even as a toddler. " We both laugh out loud and I walk back to sit at the edge of the bed . Everywhere gets quiet again for a minute but this time Liam sleeps off.
