The Wedding Night
The Wedding Night
Chapter 189: The Wedding Night
Night fell in a hush of silver light and slow-moving clouds, as if the sky itself needed a moment to breathe after bearing witness to four weddings, each powerful in its own way, but none as earth-shaping as the final union between Alicia and Brooke.
The palace dimmed its lanterns.
Servants withdrew.
Guards retreated to the outer perimeter.
The revelry faded into a warm, distant hum.
Only the Moon Terrace still shimmered with ethereal brightness, its beauty spilling through the marble corridors that led to the Queen’s private wing, now, their shared wing.
Two guards bowed deeply as Brooke ushered Alicia inside, closing the ornate silver door behind them. The soft click echoed like the final punctuation of a long, turbulent chapter.
Tonight, they were no longer queen and alpha.
Just Alicia.
And Brooke.
Two hearts that had chosen each other.
The Private Blessing
The moment he stepped inside, Brooke froze.
A soft luminescent glow had filled the chamber, moonlight, but not just any moonlight. It poured through the high crystal windows in twin beams that converged on the center of the room, warm, almost alive. Silver petals drifted down from nowhere, evaporating the moment they touched the floor.
Alicia inhaled.
“The ancestral remnant,” she whispered.
And like a ripple in wind, the presence materialized, not fully, but enough for tingles to crawl over her skin. A towering figure of swirling silver haze, ancient and gentle, bowed its head toward them.
Brooke lowered his in instinctive respect.
The Remnant’s voice vibrated through the room, felt, not heard.
"Blood of the Elder Line…
Mate of the Chosen Alpha…
May your bond be unbreakable.
May your children walk with destiny beneath their feet.
May your love steady this era for all who depend upon you."
Alicia’s heart skipped.
Brooke’s fingers tightened around hers.
The Remnant lifted a hand of shimmering light and touched Alicia’s brow. Her vision flared white, warmth, stars, power sweeping into her chest.
Then it touched Brooke.
His wolf roared in awe inside his mind, bowing deeply.
Finally, the Remnant drew its hands together and released a burst of soft radiance that washed over the chamber like a blessing of protection.
And then it vanished, leaving the faintest whisper behind.
"Do not fear the path ahead.
You walk it together."
Alicia exhaled shakily and leaned into Brooke’s chest.
“Was that… normal?” he murmured.
“No,” she whispered. “But then again, nothing about us ever is.”
Breathless Stillness
They stood in silence for several long heartbeats, letting the moment sink into them.
Then Brooke lifted her chin gently with a single finger.
“Alicia…”
Her breath caught.
The way he said her name, low, reverent, almost trembling, sent warmth spiraling through her.
“Today you were radiant,” he murmured. “But right now… right now I just want you.”
The desire in his voice wasn’t rushed or coarse.
It was tender.
Deep.
A hunger anchored in emotion, not impulse.
Alicia stepped closer, her fingertips rising to trace the line of his jaw.
“And I want you,” she whispered.
His breath shook.
The First Kiss as Husband and Wife
He kissed her slowly at first, as though afraid she might disappear.
She melted into him, hands sliding up his shoulders, pulling him closer.
Their kiss deepened, still gentle, still reverent, yet carrying that unmistakable edge of urgency that had been building between them for months.
Brooke broke away just long enough to press his forehead to hers.
“Tell me to stop,” he whispered, voice tight.
Alicia cupped his cheeks, her thumb brushing his lips.
“Never.”
He groaned softly, relief and devotion mingling in the sound, and captured her mouth again.
The room seemed to fade, the moonlight, the petals, the world itself. There was only the beating of two hearts, the warmth of two bodies drawn toward each other with a force stronger than gravity.
He lifted her effortlessly.
She wrapped her arms around his neck.
Their kiss grew deeper, hungry, emotional, full.
Alicia felt the bond between them pulse, warm, golden, intimate.
The mate-pull sang.
Her wolf, Flo, pushed forward with a soft, approving purr.
Brooke’s wolf roared in return, the sound echoing deep inside him.
They were no longer two energies.
They were intertwining, merging, aligning.
And Alicia whispered into his mouth.
“Brooke… take me home.”
His breath shuddered.
He carried her to their bed.
And the kiss that followed ended the need for words.
Afterglow... A New Kind of Peace
Time flowed differently afterward, soft, slow, warm.
Alicia lay against Brooke’s chest, her fingers tracing lazy patterns over his heartbeat. He held her tightly, one hand splayed across her lower back, the other brushing unruly strands of her hair from her face.
He kissed the top of her head.
“How are you feeling, my queen?”
She smiled against his skin.
“Sore. Warm. Happy.”
Brooke chuckled quietly, deep and loving.
“I’m all three,” he murmured, pulling her even closer.
For long minutes, they simply breathed together.
Their bond hummed like a low, steady fire.
Every brush of her skin against his sent sparks dancing across their nerves.
In the quiet, Alicia whispered.
“I didn’t think we could feel more connected than we already were.”
Brooke kissed her forehead.
“Turns out we could.”
The Omen of the Crowned Moon
A sudden change in light drew Alicia’s eyes upward.
The chamber windows glowed, not with normal moonlight but with a golden-silver halo.
Brooke followed her gaze.
“What is that?”
Alicia rose slowly, wrapping the bed’s silk sheet around her. She walked toward the balcony and pushed the translucent curtain aside.
Her breath vanished.
The moon, still full from the earlier phenomenon, now had a shimmering ring around it, like a crown made of fire and frost. It pulsed once… twice… sending delicate ripples through the night sky.
Brooke joined her, wrapping his arms around her from behind.
“What does it mean?” he murmured.
Alicia stared, awe sinking into her very bones.
“It’s the Omen of the Crowned Moon,” she whispered. “Last seen centuries ago. It appears only for rulers whose reign will change the foundation of the world.”
Brooke exhaled slowly.
“And us?”
Alicia turned in his arms, cupping his face.
“It means the Watcher’s blessing wasn’t just symbolic. Our union… our future… it’s not just important to the kingdom. It’s important to the world.”
He pressed his forehead to hers.
“Then we face it together.”
Alicia smiled softly.
“Yes. Together.”
The moon flared brighter, bathing them in its golden crown.
A promise.
A warning.
A beginning.
And Brooke pulled her back into his arms, kissing her deeply as the omen watched over them.
Their future had stirred.
And destiny, ever patient, had begun to move.
