Chapter 47
Reece POV
Julia had finally consented to rest. I held her hand till she was sound asleep.
I think you and I need to have a chat. Raven!
I spoke to my wolf, trying to inject some sense of confidence into my voice.
All I got in response was the deep chuckle of my wolf that I was so familiar with.
Don’t you think we need to talk? I need some answers, Raven!
I really did need some answers. I had known, the minute I was in Julia’s presence, that our Lady Onyx had returned to us.
Little did I know that Julia would be my fated mate. I took a second to marvel at that.
Julia was my fated. I already knew in my heart that I loved her. Already knew that I wanted her to be my Luna. To be the pack’s Luna.
But this?
This was almost too much for me to comprehend.
It was as I thought this, that my great wolf finally decided to spill the beans.
let us go to the privacy of our office, Reece. You are right. We need to talk.
Not wanting my wolf to change his mind, I sped off down the corridor. Almost barreling down a nurse. I hastily apologized, as I continued out of the hospital.
I let my Alpha aura out a small amount. This would make sure I was not bothered as I rushed to my office.
slow down, Alpha.
I heard my wolf say. Still chuckling .
When I finally reached my office, I told my secretary I didn’t want to be disturb for anything other than news on Julia.
Everyone else could wait.
I closed the door and walked over to pour myself a scotch.
Hoping a few fingers of the golden liquid would slow my rapidly beating heart.
As I reached for the decanter, my hand froze.
I would wait on the drink if I were you Reece. And seeing as I am you, we will not have a drink now. You will probably need it for later.
I was confused for a few seconds, then found myself propelled to my office chair. I sat heavily on the seat. My head seemed a little fuzzy. I was unsure of what was happening. Then.
Everything went black.
The next thing I was aware of seeing was a brilliant bright light.
It took a good few seconds before my eyes adjusted to the brightness.
When I finally focused, I saw two massive wolves sitting in front of me.
One I instantly knew was the legendary Onyx. I scrambled around until I was on my knees, bowing low.
I heard the familiar chuckle again, and looked up. Only to see my own wolf looking back at me.
“Wow.” I said softly to myself. This was weird.
“Hello Reece.” Came a soft voice. My eyes once again fell on Onyx.
And what a sight she was.
She honestly took my breath away.
But I was still confused as to why and how I was here. Wherever here, was.
“Sit down boy, this may come as a bit of a shock to you.”
I was fully aware that MY wolf had spoken to me. But I was still too bemused to respond. So I did as he asked.
I plopped myself down, opposite the two huge wolf’s, and waited for one of them to talk.
Onyx spoke first. Her voice was exactly how I had always imagined it would sound like.
Her voice was soft, yet confident. She was well spoken. And totally mesmerizing.
“Hello Alpha Cunningham. I am sure you know who I am?”
The great wolf waited for me to nod.
“We. Nevar and myself. Have brought you here to our realm, so we can explain a few things to you. I am very sure you have a multitude of questions. And Nevar and myself hope we can answer them all for you. But for now, we would just like you to listen. Can you do that for us?”
I managed to croak out, “of course.” Before the wolf. MY wolf, Nevar started to speak.
As you are now aware, my name is not Raven. It never was.
We are not sure if you know the legend of Onyx.
There was a pause, just long enough for me to croak out my answer.
Good. That will make this a little easier on you. And us.
My wolf turned his head so he could look at the Lady Onyx. I swear, I saw a faint blush spread out.
I blinked a few times, trying to work out if my eyes were in fact working. I surmised that they were. I gave a small cough. Just loud enough to break my wolf’s stare.
Where was I?
I smothered a small chuckle. ‘Damn.’ I thought. He looks at Lady Onyx the same way I look at Julia.
Lady Onyx let out a quiet laugh. Boys, enough. Ne’var. Please continue.
I was interested to see the powerful black wolf being admonished. I watched as he lowered his head. Waiting for Lady Onyx’s forgiveness.
I will give you the cliff notes version. If that is okay, Reece.
After the first devastating war between all supernaturals it was deemed that there be guardians appointed for each of the supernatural races.
Unfortunately, the peace accord that had been forged after many long talks, did not last more than a few hundred years.
The two Fae guardians, full of mistrust and deception killed each other.
The same thing happened to the two guardians of the vampires and the mages. It was a bloody time in our shared history. And not one I am proud of being involved in.
You see, Reece. The only two guardians that stayed the way the goddess intended, were Onyx and myself. To this day, we do not know why our bond was stronger than that of the other supernaturals.
After each group lost their protectors, Our moon Goddess made a decree. One that stated, The Lady Onyx and her companion, Ne’var, would become the natural successors. At the time, it was welcomed by all groups. They all knew that Onyx was powerful enough to guide and control the others.
Plus she had me by her side. It became known as the Era of the peace accord.
