Chapter 46
Julia POV
I had always been susceptible to intrusive thoughts, and my mind didn’t let me down.
I was in the middle of the most mind blowing kiss I had ever had. Whatever this man; this mate of mine was doing to me, was the sweetest agony I had ever endured. No part of my mouth was left untouched as his tongue probed and plundered my equally eager mouth.
When; poof!
There it was. And this thought was a big one. Such as it was, it made me pull out of my mates embrace.
I must have gasped out loud as our mouths became un-fused.
I felt my face being cupped gently, and I turned my head to stare into the eyes of my mate.
“Your wolf. He is called Raven?”
Reece tilted his head to one side. And stared at me earnestly.
“Yes. My love. You will meet him soon. I promise.”
I felt a thrill run through my body as I recalled the great black wolf I had not long ago, spoken to.
I waved my hands frantically to stop Reece from talking.
“I already met him, Reece. He is beautiful and; large.” I ended the sentence somewhat feebly.
“You’ve met Raven. I don’t remember. That’s an awful thing to admit, isn’t it?”
It was my turn to cup his cheek, and I relished the feel of his stubble, rough against my fingers. I ran my thumb across his lips, and felt a jolt of pleasure shoot straight to my core. As I saw his eyes darken at my touch. The spark of desire flashing deep within them.
“No. You misunderstand me, my love. Whilst I was unconscious, I was taken to the wolf realm. I met my wolf. Face to face. And, oh. Reece you should see her. I have never seen a wolf like her before. Onyx explained everything to me. About who I was born to be. And why she had to wait to reveal herself.”
I could see that Reece hung on my every word. Not wanting him to get impatient. I rushed on.
“Onyx wasn’t the only wolf there. Your wolf was there as well. But Onyx did not call your wolf Raven.”
I looked at the gorgeous man sitting in front of me, as he perched awkwardly on the edge of my hospital bed.
“My love. I now know why your destiny was wrapped so tightly with mine. How I needed to be rejected. And reject, as I did. It all happened so I could align with you. And of course, with Raven. Oh Reece, did you always know? Did you know that you held the great wolf inside you?”
I looked up into his now puzzled face. It made Onyx chuckle and I joined in.
“My love. Read your name backwards for me. I mean, if you were to right your name using the N; to start and finish with the R.”
Even though I said this to Reece as playfully as I could. I still felt my heart leap as I watched this big, bad, Alpha Reece Cunningham work out what I meant.
The name “Nevar.” Was just above a whisper. Understanding bloomed with his face.
No words were needed, just our mouths as our lips crashed together and became the second best kiss I had ever had.
Jackson POV
“Something has happened.” I said. My words coming out as a whisper. Nonetheless, my Beta-to-be, Daniel heard me
He turned towards me, a look of confusion on his face.
“huh? What’s happened?”
I rushed towards him. My hands gripping onto each shoulder.
“Don’t you feel it? It’s like the world. Or, our world, to be more precise, has shifted. Only slightly. But there was a definite shift in the atmosphere.”
I glanced around, hoping to see someone else reacting the same as me. But, everyone was just carrying on with their busy lives. No one else had sensed that shift in the air.
We had come back to the hospital. My parents had stayed at the hotel in Midway. I was quite sure they were laying low. A lot of new information had been discovered. Not least, that my father was guilty of his own crimes agains Julia.
“Daniel, do you have any updates on Eva’s whereabouts? I would like to be able to tell my mate something.”
Daniel looked at me with shock written over his face.
“Your mate? I’m confused. I thought you were going to reject Eva when you next saw her. Why are you still calling her your mate, Jackson?
I rolled my eyes at his words. Eva. Humph. She was still a massive problem I had to sort out. But it was not her who I called my mate.
“I mean Julia. Of course. Julia was. Is. My goddess given mate.”
Daniel looked at me for a few seconds before he spoke. I could see he was trying to choose his words wisely.
“Not any more, Jackson. You rejected her. And she accepted it. She is no longer linked too you in any way. Plus, I have a feeling that Alpha Cunningham would have something to say about it too.”
A growl rose up my throat. And I saw Daniel take a step back. He wasn’t saying anything I didn’t already know. But hearing him say it, was a little to on the nose.
‘I am aware I need to do some major damage control, Dan. I know I do. I will grovel if I need to. I am sure that when Julia hears me out. She will welcome our union.”
I didn’t give Daniel a chance to respond. I spun on my heal and went in search of my mate. I was ready to welcome her back into our mate bond. I was eager to find her, so I didn’t look back.
If I had. I would have seen the look of disbelief on Daniel’s face.
Daniel POV
As soon as Jackson had walked away from me. I grabbed my cell phone and headed outside.
The phone on the other end of the line only rang twice, before it was answered.
“Any news?” I asked, straight away. Wanting to hear something but also dreading it.
“Dan. We have checked all the usual places, and some unusual ones. But there is no sign of the bitch. How is our Alpha-to-be holding up.”
I sighed into my phone.
“Honestly. I’m not sure. So much has happened in the last few days. I’m not sure I know all of it. But I do know that something big is about to go down. Jackson picked up on a change in atmosphere. I lied and told him I didn’t feel anything.”
I rushed to shut down the protests coming from the other caller.
“I know I shouldn’t have lied to our future Alpha. But you didn’t feel it, man. Something powerful is coming our way.”
“I know. We felt it too Daniel.”
“What? How?” That shook me. If wolves that were still on our packlands had felt something too. Maybe this ‘thing’. Was going to be life changing.
And life changing, it will be. For all wolf-kind.
