Chapter 49 feelings blooming

Chapter 49 feelings blooming
No One’s P.O.V.

For a moment, time stopped for them. Alexander was on the edge for the past two days. His heart was filled with anticipation and fear.
Fear that Amelia could have gone to her cocoon once again, as they didn’t meet face-to-face for this long.
Even though they never stopped talking throughout the day, their talk can’t be called a talk between two lovebirds or two people romantically involved with each other.
She was comfortable talking to him over the phone, but for the past three days, he noticed that she had become reserved suddenly.
He didn’t ask her why because he wanted her to trust him to the extent where she could open her heart to him.
Still, he was anxious, and his urge to see her was so strong that he was sure that he wouldn’t be able to stop himself whenever he would see her.
That’s why he asked her to meet him alone before going for that meeting.
His plan was to get her permission before embracing her, but Velan’s excitement clouded his judgement and before he could even open his mouth to ask, his body acted on its own and embraced her.
Amelia stiffened; for a second, she felt herself trapped in that nightmare, but Alexander’s scent was overwhelming for her as her nose was now pressed to his chest.
Unconsciously, she wrapped her hands around his waist loosely and leaned on him.
Both of them felt as if they had found their home. The tranquillity of the moment brought peace to both their minds and their souls.
Amelia always thought that she would never be able to go close to any other men other than Marcus, Luca and Arthur.
Unknowingly, she snuggled against his chest and closed her eyes.
He wanted to say that he missed her so much, but he still had some rationality left in him.
Velan purred in bliss, closing his eyes, enjoying embracing Amelia.
Alexander kissed the top of her head before putting his chin there.
None of them speak and the peace of the moment remains.
Alexander tightened his grip on her waist after some time, closing his eyes, savoring whatever feelings he could steal from the time.
“Is there no way her scent can come back?” Velan asked Alexander in a slow and cautious tone, fearing to disturb the peace of the moment.
“There must be a way. We will find that. But why are you so fixated on her scent?” Alexander replied to him but asked curiously.
Velan shrugged but didn’t answer Alexander. Between the human and the wolf, wolves wait eagerly for their mates.
Alexander had se partners before that incident, but Velan always shut himself down, keeping himself safe for his mate.
Amelia stirred all his emotions the way no other she-wolf could stir in his whole life.
He knew that fighting for control with Alexander is a futile attempt. So, he didn’t waste his time fighting with him. He just savored her touch.
“How do I smell?” Alexander asked her just to stir a conversation, but he didn’t want to discuss anything related to work.
“Wet pine and cinnamon.” Amelia replied without thinking anything and inhaled sharply again.
Alexander frowned but didn’t ask anything again.
“It’s calming, you know.” She spoke to him again, keeping her voice calm and low.
He smiled and just took a deep breath.
He moved his face from the top of her head to the right side, brushing the tip of his nose along the hair's length.
“If you find it calming, then it will be.” Alexander mumbled, sniffing her hair. A faint smell of jasmine hit his nostrils. It seemed that Amelia used a flower essence-based shampoo Jasmine as the base.
Amelia slowly moved her hands on his waist and tried to cover his waist, but Alexander’s build was enormous. Her hands couldn’t reach to the middle of his back.
Alexander smiled and rubbed his nose against her skin in the crook of her neck, the place where she could have a mate mark.
Amelia shuddered hard. A jolt of electricity ran throughout her body, making something churn in her lower abdomen.
That subtle moments in her body posture rubbed her body against Alexander’s, making him shiver too.
He felt changes in his lower body. He panicked.
He couldn’t let Amelia feel this change. He reluctantly moved her away from him.
He kissed her forehead, trying to suppress all his emotions.
His urges to embrace her again and shower kisses on her were so strong that he almost brushed his lips from her temple to her cheek.
The sudden stiffening in her body snapped him out of his daze.
“I am sorry.” He mumbled and slowly moved away from her.
Amelia couldn’t deny that she slipped in that nightmare for a few seconds as soon as she felt something hard against her lower abdomen.
She was glad that Alexander decided to move away instead of continuing to hug her.
She couldn’t deny either that she also felt something very foreign to her. Her heart was beating furiously. Everything was churning in her stomach in a good way, sending a tickling sensation to her lower belly.
Especially when he nudged his nose at the marking spot at the crook of her neck. She had this urge to feel his teeth grazing against her skin there. She wanted to turn her head a little more to the other side so that he could have good access there.
She felt as if someone had thrown her out of her home again when he moved away but it was necessary.
Given to her reaction, it was really important because it would be difficult for her to clarify to Arthur why she suddenly had an episode of anxiety.
“One day….. I am sure that I will be able to wipe out that night from both your mind and soul, Amelia. That’s my promise.” Alexander mumbled, which made her blink dumbfounded.
He took a deep breath and then thrust his hands in his pant pockets. “Sit down and rest for a while. I need to use the restroom.” He instructed her while pulling a chair for her and walked away without looking at her.
Amelia was dumbfounded by his reaction, but she sat down on the same chair. She took a deep breath of relief when he closed the restroom door behind him.
She didn’t care what the whole world thinks about Alexander. Ever since they met, her opinion about him changed completely.
He was ruthless, and he should be because of the nature of his job as the king of a dangerous and violent species.
He didn’t let anyone influence his decision, but he is not unreasonable.
She views him as an impulsive person who made some wrong decisions, hurting innocents sometimes. However, no one in the world is flawless and perfect.
Outside Alexander’s office, Arthur was staring at the closed door anxiously, biting his lip furiously. Edwin was amused by Arthur’s reaction and watched him with a keen interest.
“He won’t eat people alive, you know.” Edwin teased Arthur, startling him in the process.
