Chapter 39 their hatred towards rogues
Alexander’s P.O.V.
“This is a serious matter, King Alexander. The matter has escalated to the extent that the packs have started sending queries about the palace’s decision in this case. The post got more than a million views and almost half a million comments and questions related to the post.” Edwin finished his report on that anonymous post about that girl’s abduction and her assault from outside the Blue Moon Pack four years ago.
“We all know how netizens react to posts like this, no matter whether they are werewolves or humans. Every eye is on the palace now. We have to give a decision to calm them down.” He added it in a serious tone in the end.
“Among all those half a million comments and questions, did anyone prove the authenticity of that post?” I asked him coldly and he narrowed his eyes in confusion.
“You want to say that someone posted bogus information to stir trouble for us?” Councilor Noel asked me with raised brows and I snorted.
“What else, Noel? According to the post, the girl was abducted by the rogues four years ago. The key point here is rogues. Why did this post suddenly appear right after The Night Raven Rogue group submitted a proposal to form a pack?” I asked him casually, the corner of my mouth still crooked.
He narrowed his eyes, but I just kept that smirk plastered on my face.
I knew why he met Amelia after that meeting, and that’s why he got the implication of my statement easily.
“The post indirectly targeted that group, and I am sure that you guys already know about my meeting with their leader, Marcus Smith.” I added it in the same casual tone, looking at them one by one.
“I met him to know his side of the story, and do you know what I learned?” I asked them in a taunting tone, but none of them lifted his head up.
“All the packs have a secret website or something like that where they post information about the people whom they are about to banish from their pack. They invite different rogue groups outside their borders, inviting them to kill that banished member and get the reward. Do you know that?” I asked them in the same taunting tone while briefing the information that I got from Marcus.
“What? What are you saying? That’s not possible. You… you can’t believe whatever rubbish he told you, King Alexander. Banishing a pack member is not that easy, and ….. and running a secret website? He is lying, King Alexander.” Anthony screamed in panic, and I growled at him, making him cower a little.
“Even if he isn’t lying. What he told you proved that an incident like that happened back then, and…. And he was there with his team to take that girl away. Rogues can do anything to get what they want, King Alexander. They can’t change their nature of hurting others.” Anthony insisted on the same thing that we always said for rogues, but in a bit of a fearful tone this time.
“And where do those rogues come from, Anthony?” I asked him sternly, interrupting him from saying anything wrong about rogues.
He closed his mouth and looked at me in confusion.
“In the very beginning of our world, packs banished the members who committed a grave crime, turning them into rogues, right?” I asked them angrily, but none of them even nodded in agreement.
“But what happened in the past few years?” I asked them again after a while when none of them answered.
“Nowadays, innocent people are thrown out of the pack if they offend the alpha or any other high ranker. And it’s not like you guys are not aware of this. Take Luna Melanie’s case for an example.” I almost screamed in the end.
I was so angry that I was about to spit blood. Everyone sitting in the meeting room stiffened but I didn’t stop there.
“All of you are worried about how to respond to those comments at that post, but none of you tried to verify the authenticity of that post. Since when did we start working according to the rumors?” I asked all of them, including Edwin and the second delta, Abraham.
“The post said that it has been four years to that incident and yet we have no incident reported by the Blue Moon Pack back then. why?” I raised question, banged my palm at the top of the desk in the end.
“Where is that girl’s family if she was the Blue Moon Pack member? Why did Bernard or his father report about that incident to our pack if that really happened back then? And who the fk is this person who made this anonymous post to stir the pot without any evidence? Is someone want to question my reign?”
My roar shook everyone present in the room, making them flinch hard, but none of them looked up at me.
For the next few seconds, the only voice that could be heard in the room was my ragged breath.
It seemed that they all held their breaths in fear, but I don’t care about that.
I looked at Noel, who also had his eyes downwards, but I could see that he was in pain at that moment.
“Noel, you tell me.” I asked him angrily, making him stiffen more.
“Melanie’s daughter…. She is a born rogue, right? What should we do with her if we find her in the future?” He immediately looked up while widening his eyes in horror.
“She is a rogue, right? We should kill her, right?” I asked with a sinister and cold smile dancing on my lips.
“No… she… she is a victim. She… she is not … not.”
“Not what?” I roared aloud, interrupting his protest against what I said earlier.
“Not what, Nevil? Just a few minutes ago, you all were badmouthing the rogues and calling them evil. It means that Melanie’s daughter is evil too.”
“She is not evil.” Noel screamed, interrupting me in the process.
I scoffed internally at his outburst.
“And I have already given my approval for the Night Raven Pack.” He added it while screaming again.
I just kept on staring at him blankly, waiting for him to calm down.
But the good thing was that I got the second vote on Amelia’s proposal.
Which was a good thing.
At least for me.
Noel looked away while seething. I guess he had some tears in his eyes by now.
I looked at Edwin, whose eyes were still down, but he had a grim expression on his face.
Among us, he is the one who hated the rogues most, and he had a valid reason for that.
His parents and his younger siblings were killed by the rogues in an ambush outside the pack when they were coming back to the royal pack a few years ago.
So, I didn't want to say anything to him, hoping to change his opinion about the rogues, but I knew that I needed to talk to him soon.
I looked at Abrahm.
