Chapter 29 he is not worried
Amelia’s P.O.V. (Continued)
“He wants to ruin everything that we built with so much hardship, Marcus. He wants us dead.” I growled again but calmed down a little. Arthur was still holding me tightly, but soon, my emotions started settling again.
“As Arthur said, you are the player, not his pawn, pup. Don’t let him affect you. This is what he wants, but we will not give him this satisfaction, right?” I growled once again, but he was right.
I closed my eyes and slumped into Arthur’s embrace. He slowly dragged me somewhere, but I let my mind free itself from all the aggressive thoughts.
“I have already gotten the call from Beta Hunter. I am on my way to meet the king. Don’t forget that whomever Bernard tried to get some leverage on was a royal. Of course, the king will be involved in this. After all, it was the king who avenged you.” Marcus spoke to me further in the same calm tone.
“I am scared, Marcus. Don’t forget that they are relatives. What if the king believes his lies and…. And does something to you to hurt you?” I expressed my concern, feeling both worried and scared.
“Only the warriors who threw you in the forest knew your condition at that time. I am sure that the king also has no idea about that. So, it’s easy for Bernard to say that you were perfectly okay when you were thrown out of the pack. Let me handle this. I am sure that I will come back unscathed.” He assured me confidently, which confused me a little.
The king had no obligation towards us. The rogues are never meant to be shown the mercy or consideration. People believed everything bad is told to them related to the rogues.
So, I wasn’t convinced that the king would listen to Marcus.
Moreover, Marcus had sworn once that he would not reveal my identity as the victim of that incident to anyone.
And I knew that Marcus would embrace the death, but he would never say a word about the victim of that incident and what happened to her after he took her away.
“I need to go now, pup. He will be here soon.” Marcus spoke again with a sigh. I immediately opened my eyes and straightened up my back alarmingly.
“You don’t worry. He is coming to meet me. We are meeting in a presidential suite of the Moon Crown Hotel. I asked him to meet me there.” He added this information and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Moon Crown Hotel is owned by Vincent Carter, Marcus’ third gamma. When they formed his group, it was Luca who was the leader, but later, Luca handed over this position to Marcus and became his beta instead of choosing the position of the rogue alpha.
“And you are not allowed to check the camera there, pup. I want this meeting with the king to be a complete secret and confidential.” He commanded me sternly, which made me frown.
“I will ensure this, Marcus. You have my word.” Arthur assured him, making me look at him coldly.
Even though Arthur and I had a deep bond, he was still completely loyal to Marcus, and when it came to proving the loyalty, Arthur never hesitated to give up on his life instead of betraying Marcus.
“Wait for my call, pup, and stay calm.” Marcus instructed me before hanging up the call.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
Bernard Shaw……
You dare to mess with my life again??????
Let’s see if you are ready for your next downfall or not.
My anger hadn’t faded completely and a plan to take revenge on him had already formed in my mind.
Marcus’ P.O.V.
“Is she okay now?” Luca asked me worriedly through the mind-link as soon as I hung up and he entered the suite where I was supposed to meet the king.
I smiled, assuring her that Amelia is fine, but went to greet King Alexander, who was right behind him with his beta.
“My king.” I greeted formally and calmly, bowing my head in respect.
“I would have killed you by now if it weren’t for Amelia, Marcus. You better give me a reason proving that I was right to have a talk with you instead of killing you.” he threatened me coldly, his gaze drilling hole in my skull.
“Is everything taken care of?” I asked Luca calmly, and he nodded in response.
“What do you mean by this?” Beta Hunter growled, coming forward protectively.
“This is my hotel, Beta Hunter, a good source of our income. Of course, I will not do a thing to ruin this place.” I assured him in my way and gestured for the king to walk forward with my hand.
“I made sure that no one, not even Amelia, listened to our conversation, My king. You hid your involvement in that incident for a reason,” I told him calmly but brought up his involvement to prove my point.
He stopped in his tracks and slowly moved towards me with a furious, piercing gaze.
“Please, my king. Let’s sit first.” I requested him with a calm smile plastered on my face, unbothered by his fury and killing intent.
“No wonder you were called the best beta material in your previous pack.” Beta Hunter praised mockingly, but it didn’t bother me.
I never regretted being the best among all of them. It made them fear me, and it was their fear that made them scheme against me. It was my fault that I didn’t keep my guard up against my own family and friends.
I just smiled calmly and walked to the couches with the king. I chose to sit on the next long couch right in front of him.
His domineering presence always made me feel breathless and with this fury, the big living room of this presidential suit looked cramped and suffocated.
Yet, I kept my cool and looked at him calmly.
His dark black eyes were like a black hole, engulfing everything around him.
“Do you know who posted that gossip news, my king?” I asked him calmly while crossing my legs on my knees, leaning back in a relaxing manner.
He furrowed his brow but didn’t answer me. “Might be one of your rivals.” Beta Hunter replied sarcastically, though.
I laughed lightly while shaking my head.
“In this whole world, only three groups of people know what happened back then, Beta Hunter.” I spoke to him, moving my gaze on him.
He furrowed his brow but didn’t utter a word in reply.
“One – Bernard Shaw and his team who orchestrated the whole incident. Two—the royale involved and his team. Three—the group of rogues who took her away after she was thrown in that forest to die.” I counted while raising my fingers in the process, my hand raised in front of me.
Their expression turned ashen, but none of them spoke a word. Both of them had the coldest expression that I had ever seen.
“Have you ever wondered, my king, how rogues reached there so quickly?”
