Chapter 38
“I think I might be living here instead of going back home,” Angela said as she walked around the apartment.
“Too bad that the top floor is already bought. We can only buy two apartments below,” Brooke said as she felt sad.
‘Why do I feel that I am the one who brought them to buy an apartment and not the other way round?’ Scarlet asked herself as she looked at them.
“I think we really don’t have enough time, we don’t, we just get ready here and call the stylist over? After all, by the time we finish with the document procedures,” Scarlet said, making everyone look at her.
“I think you are right. Let me call them over,” Mrs Davis said after taking a look at what time it was.
Angela panicked when she heard that and hurriedly said, “Aunt, let me call the best stylist.”
Mrs Davis stared at her for a while and felt that the girl was plotting something. She nodded her head as she wasn’t worried about what Angela would do, as she had watched her grow up.
Angela’s eyes lit up when she saw that she had agreed and hurriedly walked to the balcony.
“Uncle,” she called when the phone was connected.
“What is it? Didn’t you go shopping?” Lennox asked as his sister had told her that the latter had gone out with her friends.
“Uncle, can you send your stylist over to Brightside Apartment, 28th floor?” Angela asked in a low tone, afraid the latter would reject him.
“What are you doing there? You don’t have an apartment there, right?” Lennox asked as he frowned. He knew how the girl had always wanted to buy an apartment there, but her family told her that it was useless, as she was about to complete her high school studies. They will buy her an apartment when she goes to university.
He never told her that he had bought an apartment there, as he was afraid that she might go there every day. Now that he knew that she had someone living there, he was so worried about the owner’s apartment.
“We came to bring my friend who wants to buy an apartment here. Just decided on this, but we fear that we won’t have any time to go to the mall, that’s why I am calling you to send your stylist to us,” Angela said, making Lennox suspicious.
He wasn’t a fool. He immediately understood that Angela wanted to take advantage of him and chuckled as he tapped the armchair.
“That won’t do. Don’t forget what you did yesterday. Call your mother,” He said, and was about to hang up the call, and Angela really panicked this time round.
“Uncle, my friend is the lady whom you gifted yesterday,” she hurriedly said, making Lennox halt his actions.
He was immediately interested. Seeing that the call wasn’t disconnected, Angela stopped panicking and became bold.
“Uncle, we just want this small thing. Can’t you do it for me? In return, I will send you my friend’s picture after dressing up and her name. What do you think? Do we have a deal?” Angela said. Even if she wanted to ask for the car at the same time, she wanted to see whether Scarlet could make her uncle do anything. After confirming, she will soon find ways to get that car.
Lennox was surprised that Angela didn’t ask for her car, but after some time, he understood what was on her mind. He didn’t reprimand her as he was already satisfied with her behavior. As for the lady, he had gifted her jewels cause she had seemed familiar.
“Oh, uncle. Send everything, nags, outfits, heels, and jewels. She left the jewels at home and can’t send anyone. After you know her name, you will understand what I mean. And, Aunt Davis and my friend’s aunt are here, though she is only six years older than us. Send their outfits too,” Angela said, leaving Lennox speechless.
“Who said that I am going to send them?” he asked, making Angela roll her eyes.
“I know you, Uncle. Samantha and Brooke are here too. So tell them to come with a lot of outfits,” Angela said as she chuckled.
“Okay,” Lennox said, not because he was tempted by what Angela was offering her but because he would get back everything Angela had plotted against her today from her parents. However, he waited after they were done before calling his sister to complain.
“They will be here,” Angela said as she smiled brightly, making the three girls look at her suspiciously.
“Angela, since when did you become so generous?” Samantha asked. Her mother and Sophia had left to go and take care of the documents.
“I just called my little uncle,” Angela said, making both Samantha and Brooke glance at each other.
“No way! Aren’t you afraid of him?” they asked, as they knew how Angela feared the man.
“I have something on him,” Angela said, not elaborating cause she was afraid that if she said what her uncle had done, Scarlet would be suspicious. She had been told by the shop’s manager yesterday that Scarlet didn’t know her uncle.
“You are becoming so brave,” Brooke said, though she was still suspicious.
The stylist didn’t delay; they arrived in fifteen minutes.
“They are so quick,” Scarlet said as she saw them walking in.
When they saw the clothes that had been sent, they were all astonished. Even Angela never thought that her uncle could be so generous.
“Young miss, the young master said that you can all take whatever what and keep them here for future use,” the leader said, making Angela dumbfounded.
“Are you sure you are talking about my little uncle?” she asked suspiciously.
“Yes, miss. Should we get ready? You only have three hours to get ready,” the leader said, not wanting to elaborate. “Everyone will have her own stylist so that you don’t have to wait for each other.”
Luckily, the apartment was large enough. The girls would be in Scarlet’s styling room while Mrs Davis would be in Sophia’s.
After one and a half hours, the makeup was already done. Before they started, they all chose the outfits they wanted to wear so that the makeup could be done according to their style and color. After they were done, they looked at the mirror and smiled.
When Scarlet looked at herself, she smiled brightly.
“Come, let’s take a picture before we leave,” Angela said as she had not forgotten what she had promised her uncle.
They took twenty minutes taking pictures as they waited for Sophia and Mrs Davis to be done.
“I really don’t have a gift to present,” Scarlet said as she immediately recalled what she had forgotten.
“Oh, the old man loves antiques and paintings,” Brooke said as she was willing to help Scarlet. However, both Samantha and Angela looked at her as they thought that she really didn’t understand what Scarlet meant.
After hearing Brooke’s words, Scarlet’s eyes lit up. After Ann and her mother found out that her mother’s belongings were treasures, they sold everything. Among them, there were at least five paintings that cost more than fifty million dollars. One of them was a painting from the Yuan dynasty, which was more than one hundred and fifty years old. It had caused a stir when it was brought out and was bought for one hundred million.
The other was a painting from a man called Lei Shan, who was a famous painter, and all his paintings never cost less than sixty million. The one in her words was the most searched painting. She recalled that Old Mr Brooke was a huge fan of the painter.
In the Jenkins mansion, the only person Scarlet dared to trust was the butler. The paintings were well hidden, and Ann and her family never saw them. The reason they found them in their past lives was that they searched their mother’s room, not wanting to lose anything, and found them in a hidden cabinet. She wasn’t worried that they would soon cause trouble for her when they saw her gifting the paintings, as they won’t recognize them.
She hurriedly called the butler.
“Hello, Jenkins Mansion,” the butler said when the call was connected.
“Uncle, it's me. Have everyone left?” she first asked.
“Yes, they left ten minutes ago,” the butler said. He had heard his master's conversation and knew what they plotted against the two. Though he wanted to help Scarlet and Sophia, he was also helpless.
“Uncle, can you please go to my room. In my study desk, open the last cabinet, take out the painting, and bring it to me,” Scarlet said.
“Scar, won’t we go through that road? Why not tell him that you will pick it up at the junction? For him to wait for you there?” Brooke asked as she felt they would be wasting more time if they waited for the person to come here. Also, Mrs Davis and Sophia were already done, so they were about to leave.
“Yes. Why didn’t I think of that?” Scarlet said. “Uncle, can you stand at the junction? We will be there in fifteen minutes.”
“Okay. Is there just one painting there, or how would I know the one you are saying?” the butler asked.
When she was arranging her room, Scarlet kept the paintings in different places. Everything that was so valuable from her mother, she hid separately, so she wasn’t really worried about telling the butler to take it out. Also, the cabinets all had different pins.
“Just one painting, the pin is 3025,” Scarlet said.
“Okay. I will be waiting for you at the junction,” the butler said, and Scarlet hung up her call.
Angela had been busy sending the pictures to her uncle.
Beep.
Hearing his phone beeping, Lennox’s eyebrows rose, and he took the phone out.
