Chapter 54 Directly a Slap
As soon as I said this, not just Rosalind, but even Willow and Natasha's faces changed.
"Helena, what do you mean by that? What do you mean by 'relying on your dad'?"
Willow reacted like she'd been triggered, her expression instantly changing, ready to start arguing with me.
I sneered, "My dad gives Uncle John millions of dollars in living expenses every year. Don't tell me you don't know about this. But if you really have such strong self-respect and don't want it, then I'll go back and tell the finance department to stop transferring money to you."
As soon as I said this, Willow instantly lost her fire.
"You little brat, you have no manners at all. How dare you lecture your elders!"
Rosalind cursed angrily, "I had no idea you could interfere with your father's decisions. The Lockwood family having a rebellious person like you is truly the Lockwood family's misfortune!"
As Rosalind finished speaking, Knox quickly stood up and said, "Mrs. Lockwood, Helena is young, please don't take it personally."
Hearing this, Rosalind simply clutched her chest and said, "This damn Helena is trying to make me die of anger."
"Mrs. Lockwood, are you okay?"
Knox got quite a scare. Just as he was about to call out, he saw Willow skillfully grab some medicine and put it directly in Rosalind's mouth.
After swallowing the medicine, Rosalind looked at me and said, "You brat, you're rebelling, aren't you? Fine, fine, I'm calling your father right now. I refuse to believe I can't handle you."
Seeing Rosalind about to make a call, Knox panicked.
"Helena, quickly apologize to Mrs. Lockwood and ask for her forgiveness."
I sneered and looked at Knox, "What did I do wrong? Why should I apologize?"
Knox was speechless. After a moment, he said, "Either way, she's your grandmother; you should show some respect."
I sneered. In my past life, I did respect her, but what happened in the end? After Maria and Henry died, Rosalind and John's family directly divided up our family's assets.
I couldn't even keep the family house in the end.
In this life, I had thought about taking good care of her and even gave her an expensive necklace. But what was the result? After receiving the gift, Rosalind turned around and started favoring Willow's family again.
Fine then. Since that's how it is, I'll just break ties with them completely. No one's going to have it easy.
"Grandma, you're getting old. I advise you to just let some things go and stop trying to make things bigger. If you do, it won't benefit anyone!"
I sneered and looked at Willow, "Don't you agree?"
Perhaps remembering my threat to stop the money transfers, Willow's face twitched, but she still held back her anger.
She looked at Rosalind and said, "Mom, let's just forget it. Don't call Henry yet. We can talk about this after Henry finishes his work."
At least she had some sense this time. My trip here wasn't wasted.
Seeing that I'd achieved my goal, I stood up and said to Rosalind, "Aunt Willow is right. If you're better, you should go home. After all, no one feels at ease with you staying here, right?"
After saying this, I waved at her, "Grandma, rest well. We're leaving now."
With that, I opened the door and walked out first, with Knox hurrying after me.
"That brat, she really makes me so angry. Don't let her come here again!"
Rosalind's angry shouts came from behind. I smiled.
Since being a good person doesn't work, I'll just choose to be a bad person in this life. After all, no one dares to mess with bad people easily.
After leaving the hospital, Knox couldn't hold back anymore, "Helena, how could you treat your grandmother like that? She's your elder after all."
"Yeah, that's just how I am. Knox, if you want to call off the engagement now, there's still time."
I suddenly thought of Atlas. If he were here, he definitely wouldn't let these people upset me like this.
I shook my head hard, driving Atlas out of my mind.
My words left Knox stunned. "Helena, what are you talking about? They're just outsiders. To me, you're the most important person. How could I call off the engagement over such a small matter?"
Knox looked serious. He stepped hard on the brake and pulled the car over to the side of the road.
Looking at me with focused and affectionate eyes, he said, "Helena, don't worry, we will definitely get married."
I pushed his hand away and said, "Alright, I know what you're thinking. Don't worry, as long as you don't call off the engagement, I'll naturally go through with it to the end."
There was only one week left. I really couldn't be bothered to act with him anymore.
Hearing my words, Knox's face showed a smile.
"Helena, we're getting married in a week. According to Starwave City customs, we can't see each other for three days before the wedding, so we only have these four days left together. I don't want to be apart from you for even a day."
Looking at his affectionate expression, I just wanted to gag, but I had to play along with him.
"I'll miss you too."
Hearing this, Knox's breathing became rapid.
Sensing trouble, I quickly opened the car window and said, "We should go. Let's head back."
Knox withdrew his hand that was hanging in mid-air, looking somewhat hurt. "Helena, do you not like me anymore?"
"How is that possible?"
I immediately shook my head.
"Then why do you always avoid my affection? Helena, I really can't control myself."
Knox moved closer as he spoke. Watching his face getting closer and closer, I felt disgusted and swung my hand, slapping him directly across the face.
A crisp sound rang out, stunning Knox completely.
Five finger marks instantly appeared on his face. He covered his face and looked at me in disbelief, "Helena, why did you hit me?"
Looking at his incredulous expression, I pretended to be flustered, "I'm sorry, Knox, are you okay? I didn't mean to."
I moved closer to his face and gently blew on it.
But Knox turned his face away angrily, "What am I to you exactly?"
I said seriously, "You're my fiancé, the person I love most. Knox, how can you say something like that?"
"Then why do you resist me getting close to you?"
Knox pointed at the handprint on his face and accused me, "Look, you even slapped me. Helena, is this how you treat me?"
"I'm sorry, it's my fault."
"But Knox, please understand me. My family has always been very traditional. My mother always taught me that a girl's most precious first night must be saved for the wedding night. Knox, please don't be angry."
I deliberately smiled carefully, trying to appease him.
Hearing my words, Knox's anger subsided considerably.
He said generously, "Mrs. Lockwood is right. It's my fault. I shouldn't have been so impatient!"
Knox leaned toward my cheek, "Helena, I want to kiss you. May I?"
I couldn't refuse. I could only watch helplessly as his kiss landed on my cheek.
Whatever, I'll just pretend I got bitten by a mosquito.
After the kiss, Knox was finally satisfied.
"Helena, my mother said she'd like to invite you to dinner at home tomorrow. I'll come pick you up tomorrow, okay?"
What could Arabella possibly want when we're about to get married?
Thinking of Arabella's pretentious manner, I felt indescribably annoyed.
"Knox, there have been some problems at the company these past few days, and we've lost quite a bit of money. As you know, I need to keep an eye on the goods to make sure nothing else goes wrong."
"Plus, we're about to get married. I want to use this time to prepare properly. As for Mrs. Pemberton, please tell her maybe some other time. We're getting married soon anyway, so there'll be plenty of time to see each other later."
As I finished speaking, Knox nodded, "Helena, you're right. We should prepare properly."
With that, he raised his hand and tucked my fallen hair behind my ear before sitting up straight. "Let's go, I'll take you back to the company."
