Chapter 27 What’s Going On?

Chapter 27 What’s Going On?
“Are you blind and deaf? Didn’t you see that the mirror was broken in two?” Luna Rosie pointed her hand at the mirror on the dresser table.
Mira looked at the mirror, her brows knitted in concentration. “Based on what I see right now, the mirror is intact, it’s not broken at all,” she commented calmly.
Luna Rosie’s eyes widened in shock, staring at the mirror in surprise and disbelief. What? How could that be? Why is the mirror still intact? She blinks five times only to see that the mirror wasn't broken? How did it happen?
She’s not going crazy, right?
No way! She saw it in her eyes! The mirror was split in two! The sound…the zigzag line in the middle of the mirror, it really happened. Too bad she wasn't able to take a photo of it using her phone.
Luna Rosie walked to the dressing table and inspected the mirror. No matter how many times she checks the mirror it’s still intact, no sign of the zigzag line in the middle, so she gave up proving to Mira that it was broken.
“Maybe it was just your wild imagination,” Mira said casually, lying back on the bed, shaking her head. The truth is she heard the screeching sound and saw the zigzag line in the middle of the mirror. But when she blinks a few times and sees the mirror again, the line is gone, nothing was broken. So she thought it was just her imagination.
“I saw it! I’m not making things up!” Luna Rosie insisted. She couldn't accept that what she saw was just an illusion. She knows it’s real.
“Stop insisting that it’s real. The mirror might have broken for real this time because you willed it to happen,” Mira said and shifted her attention to the window. That's the moment she saw a swirling thick mist outside, floating in the air for a few seconds and then it disappeared, gone with the wind. Her brows knitted in confusion. What’s that?
Damn, was she imagining weird things like Luna Rosie? Was this room haunted?
She was about to tell Luna Rosie that she saw thick mist outside the window shaped like a man's form but she decided to keep her mouth shut. Saying such strange things will only scare Luna Rosie more and make her paranoid. Then she will accuse her again of performing black magic to scare her.
Never mind.
She rubs her eyes, wanting to go to sleep to rest her weary mind. The things happening lately, her injured husband, the broken mirror, the appearance of the mist outside the window are making her tensed and anxious. It's not good for her mental health.
Before she closed her eyes, she looked at Luna Rosie and said, “Stop staring at the mirror. You will only scare yourself and you won't be able to sleep at night thinking about it. It will become your nightmare that will haunt your waking hour,” she said and closed her eyes to sleep.
Luna Rosie glanced at Mira. Did she really not see the broken mirror at all? Did it happen so fast that she was the only one who saw it? Just thinking about the mystery of the broken mirror made her head hurt painfully.
She stood up and walked to the door. She will go to the garden to breathe fresh air and see the colorful flowers. Maybe they can help calm her nerves. She left the room and made her way downstairs to the garden.
Back in the room, Mira slowly drifted into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, in the garden, Luna Rosie realized that she couldn't stay long admiring the flowers because other servants might see her relaxing but her mistress was nowhere in sight. So she left the garden and returned to the mansion. When she arrived in her room Mira was sleeping soundly on the bed.
With nothing else to do, Luna Rosie decided to lay down on the bed and go to sleep as well, but she remembered that she hadn't locked the door. If one of the royals suddenly entered the room, they would be shocked to see the servant lying on the same bed as her mistress, which is unacceptable. She doesn't want to stir another issue especially now that her husband has been injured. His husband’s injury alone and the mysterious breaking of the mirror was enough to make her go crazy.
She got up from her bed and locked the door securely. Feeling satisfied that no one could enter the room while she was sleeping, she returned to the bed, lay down and closed her eyes to sleep.
A few minutes later, both women were sleeping soundly on the bed.
In the garden, a brown snake can be seen appearing out of nowhere, slithering between the thick green syngonium plants growing abundantly on the ground. It stays hidden beneath the green leaves, taking shelter.
One hour later.
Mira woke up first and saw Luna Rosie sleeping beside her on the bed. The bitch badly needed rest to reset her troubled mind.
She didn't want to wake up her companion too soon so Mira stayed on the bed and glanced at the mirror, expecting to see it split in two, but nothing happened.
She shifted her attention to the window and saw the clear sky, no anomaly at all.
The thick mist formed into a man puzzled her deeply just like what had happened to the mirror. She knew herself well. She was not capable of performing magic. She was just a human servant whose spirit was reborn into the body of a shewolf.
There’s nothing special about her.
But weird things occurred on the same day. Who is responsible for those strange occurrences?
She had no idea.
Half an hour later, Luna Rosie finally wakes up and looks at Mira and says, “You’re awake.”
“Yeah and you are awake too,” Mira responded with a smile.
“Did my phone ring while I was asleep?” Luna Rosie asked, grabbing her phone from the side table.
“No.” Mira shook her head.
Luna Rosie checked her messages and was disappointed that her husband hadn't sent her any messages at all. She put the phone back on the side table and looked at Mira. “Let’s talk about my husband."
Mira nodded her head. “OK. Bring it on.”
“Once my husband is back you will confess to him that our souls were switched. I don’t want to delay it any longer. Seeing you take over my life, my pregnancy and my husband is painful for me. I can't endure the pain of seeing you two together lying in this bed touching each other. It’s the ultimate betrayal to me. This madness must stop. I won’t allow it anymore!” Luna Rosie said in an angry and frustrated tone. Tears began to flood her eyes.
“I’m so sorry…” Mira whispered sincerely.
“Sorry is not enough," Luna Rosie yelled indignantly. “You need to be punished severely for stealing my body and making me miserable! You are a despicable being! I hate you so much,” she said. Her expression hardened, her eyes sending daggers into Mira’s eyes. “If my eyes could kill, you are already dead by now!” she added vehemently.
Mira heaved a sigh. “Correction, I don't have the power to be reborn into your body. Blame it on the heavens above. They made it happen for me.”
Luna Rosie fell silent, formulating theories in her mind. "I can clearly see things now. You are just a servant in this mansion. You must have taken a liking to my husband. You had a crush on him and you wish you were like me, that you were his wife. When you died…the Gods in heaven took pity on you and granted your wish to be reborn in my body. Now you are me and I am you. Is that what you are trying to tell me?”
Spot on! Mira sighed inwardly. Luna Rosie seems to have connected the dots together. But she can't tell her that she had a huge crush on Alpha Gideon, Luna Rosie will hate her even more.
Mira shrugged. “That’s your theory. I don’t really know why I was reborn in your body. Being reborn into a snake is better than being reborn into your body. The amount of insults you gave me already reached the heavens. Aren’t you afraid that the heavens will strike you as your punishment for belittling me?” she asked, her eyes gleaming.
Luna Rosie snorted. “But I’m still alive, aren’t I? You might be the favored one but I was not supposed to die because of your wishes, which means I was given another chance to get my life back. I just don’t know how. But once my husband learns about this bizarre anomaly, he will find a way to restore my soul to my body. And I will finally get rid of you once and for all!" she says wickedly.
Mira rolled her eyes. “Don’t waste my precious time anymore. Just go straight to the point. What do you want?”
“After my husband learns the truth, I will kick you out of the mansion and you will never see my husband again." Luna Rosie finally revealed her plans.
Sending her away? Mira’s heart froze for a few seconds, fearing for her safety. “Where? At what place? You have to remember that I’m pregnant. I’m carrying your unborn child in my tummy. Subject me to any torture and you will lose your child,” she quickly reminded her, using the baby as her bargaining chips.
“Afraid eh?” Luna Rosie smirked. “Don’t worry, there is a bungalow house somewhere on this property. You will live there together with Lena. All your basic needs are provided by the royal family. I’m not totally heartless, after all, you are carrying my child and you are inhabiting my body. I just want you away from my husband because we can’t live in the same house together,” she explained, gritting her teeth in anger.
Mira shrugged. “Fine with me. Do whatever you want that makes you happy. I will support you,” she said. If she is not pregnant with Luna Rosie’s baby she doesn't mind leaving the mansion right away. With her current flawless and beautiful face she can find a job easily compared to her former self.
Luna Rosie smiled, grateful that Mira agreed to the setup she had planned in her mind. She couldn’t wait to tell her husband the truth and get her life back!
