Chapter 21 Staring Match
But Mira was hit with a pang of guilt again. If she really wanted to go that route, it would appear that she really did steal the bitch’s life. Even before, a big part of her craved Luna Rosie’s pampered kind of life, rich and beautiful, and married to a handsome and loving husband.
In the blink of an eye, she finally got it all, but did she really deserve this kind of life?
If only this wonderful opportunity had been given to her without ruining other people's lives, the blessing would have been really worth it.
Can she fully enjoy her pampered life knowing there is another soul suffering because of her?
Dang it, it seems like she doesn't deserve this kind of life because she can’t bring herself to deceive another soul to the very end. Maintaining this kind of life requires her to fully embrace the dark side of humanity.
Her heart and mind were torn between clinging to her good fortune but also setting the record straight that she didn't knowingly steal Luna Rosie’s body.
She released a deep sigh. Her situation was getting harder and more confusing with each passing day.
Should she do the right thing and confess the truth? Many times she wanted to.
On the other side, she wanted to know what God wanted her to do. She needs divine intervention.
If she wants to keep her current life, she should act quickly and get rid of Luna Rosie while Alpha Gideon has not come home yet. Things will be easier that way.
But she is not a bad person. People have done bad things to her in the past but that doesn't mean she will also do the same to other people.
Dang it, her kind heart refused to be bad.
She was in that state of confusion when the door opened and Luna Rosie entered the room. She could feel the woman’s stare burning a hole in her back. She turned around and faced her. “Look, you can’t keep hating me and insulting me. We can’t keep arguing with each other because I will be stressed out and the unborn child in my tummy will suffer. So why don’t we reach a peace agreement? No more bickering between us so our lives will become peaceful," she suggested.
Luna Rosie observed the impostor’s face suspiciously. “What are you planning this time?”
Mira shook her head. “I’m trying to talk sense into your stubborn head. Constantly arguing with each other is very tiring. I don’t like this kind of life. I want peace of mind…”
Luna Rosie sneered. “Peace of mind? How can you say that after you stole my life? How can I accept that my life was stolen from me by a mere servant? Do you think I can have peace of mind after what you have done to me? Never!”
Mira groaned. Luna Rosie will never stop tormenting her unless she gets what she wants from her. She cleared her throat and said, “Alright, I will give you what you want. After Alpha Gideon comes home we will tell him the truth that our souls have switched. They need to find a powerful shaman that could perform the soul switch. Are you happy now?”
Luna Rosie’s face lit up. “A-are you sure? You are willing to admit your sin that you stole my body? That you are a sorcerer who performs the soul switch?”
Mira sighed heavily. “Correction...I’m not a magician, shaman or sorcerer. I can’t perform a soul switch between two people. I will tell Alpha Gideon the truth that after I died in my bed I was reborn and woke up in your body. I will tell him exactly that!”
Wow? This shameless servant is finally willing to cooperate with her. Luna Rosie was in a state of disbelief but excited nonetheless. “OK fine. Just make sure you do not back out on your words because if you do, I will punish you!” She growled, glaring at her murderously.
Mira released a deep sigh. There is no turning back for her.
“You better do what you said today or else I will skin you alive!” Luna Rosie repeated menacingly.
Mira rolled her eyes. “As if you could harm your own body…”
“You are lucky you are in my body, if not you are already dead by now for giving me so much stress and misery!” Luna Rosie shouted vehemently at her face.
“Can you please stop getting mad all the time? You get uglier every time you yell at me," Mira joked.
Luna Rosie’s face turned red in anger, looking like a lioness ready to tear her prey to pieces.
“Please calm down, Luna Rosie. You will die too early because of stress,” Mira reminded her gently. “How about we change the topic? Can I borrow your phone? I want to make a call to our husband and ask him how he is doing now,” Mira said casually.
“No way! I will text and talk to my husband alone. You are not his wife, I am the real Luna therefore I have all the right to call him." Luna Rosie spat, removing her phone from the pocket of her dress.
Mira watched with envy as Luna Rosie began chatting with her husband on the phone. Happiness radiated on Luna Rosie’s face. She and her husband were really in love with each other and now she comes in between them, destroying their beautiful love story.
Right now she feels guilty.
Sigh. She took a deep breath and went to the window.
The guilt she felt inside intensified.
'It's not my intention to become the third party to Luna Rosie and Alpha Gideon’s love story. Just that the merciful God in heaven granted my wish and I am now occupying Luna Rosie’s body. I didn't start it all, God did. I shouldn’t feel guilty at all,' Mira thought to herself.
But the bad thoughts never left her mind at all. She was now closer to getting the final step done to seal her bright future with Alpha Gideon by getting rid of Luna Rosie.
There is only one problem. Can she do it?
It’s not in her personality to be devious, scheming about somebody’s downfall.
Right now, both her good and bad sides are battling to gain supremacy in her thoughts.
She released a deep sigh and stared at the horizon. She is so close to her dreams and yet so far away.
Why is she feeling this way, so conflicted inside? Tears of frustration shimmered in her eyes.
The truth is she wants Luna Rosie’s life so badly. The bitch has it all while she has nothing.
After a while, she glanced at her rival. The bitch looked so happy, good for her.
Luna Rosie suddenly looked at her. “What are you looking at?” she snapped.
Mira shakes her head. “Nothing.”
Time flies past, the day turns into night. During dinner, Mira dined with the royal family while Luna Rosie ate her meal alone in the kitchen.
At bedtime, the two women donned their pajamas and lay down on the bed, staring at each other's face.
