Chapter 87 Under the Name of the Smith Group, Does Daniel Know?

Chapter 87 Under the Name of the Smith Group, Does Daniel Know?

"I didn't say anything, I was just trying to help!" Bianca stepped back, her voice trembling.

Emily smirked, enjoying Bianca's panic.

If Daniel heard this...

No one knew if Daniel would blow up. Rumors said he was ruthless.

Emily's phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and answered immediately.

"The competition should be over by now. What's the holdup?" Daniel's deep voice came through the phone.

Emily wasn't surprised by his question; he always had a way of knowing everything.

She remembered he said he'd wait for her at the door. Could he already be outside? Feeling a bit guilty, she replied, "Sorry, I'll be right out."

After hanging up, Emily didn't even look at Bianca. She quickly said goodbye to Wren and hurried out.

Bianca frowned. Who was Emily rushing to meet?

Could it be the guy behind her recent success in becoming a judge? He must be an older man. If she could catch Emily meeting this guy, she'd have leverage over her.

With that thought, Bianca hurried after her.

In her rush, she almost ran into James.

James rubbed his chest where he was hit and steadied Bianca, who nearly fell. "Bianca, what's up?"

Bianca regained her balance and quickly said, "It's nothing. I just saw Emily leave in a hurry and wanted to check if something's wrong. James, let go of me."

She was so anxious she didn't give James a chance to react, pushing him aside and rushing out.

But because of the delay, by the time Bianca got outside, she saw the car door close.

She caught a glimpse of Emily's profile and the corner of a suit next to her, but she couldn't see Daniel's face clearly.

Frustrated, Bianca stomped her foot, silently blaming James.

If he hadn't stopped her, she might have caught Emily in an awkward situation with the older man.

"How is that possible?"

James had followed her out.

He saw the departing Maybach and instinctively took a few steps forward, mumbling.

"What do you mean, how is that possible? James, do you recognize the owner of that car? Could it be that Emily, just to spite me, hooked up with some old man? How foolish!"

Bianca looked exasperated.

James shook his head. "No, I don't recognize it. I must have been mistaken."

He wouldn't admit that Emily got into Daniel's car.

Emily was just a nobody. Even if she got some recognition because of Floyd, someone like Daniel wouldn't go out of his way to pick her up.

Bianca felt a bit disappointed.

Since she couldn't catch Emily, she'd have to find another opportunity. She remembered another pressing matter.

Chase had called her again, asking if she'd contacted the highly skilled doctor yet. Clearly, he didn't trust her previous lie.

"James, let's put Emily's matter aside for now. How much longer do we have to wait for that doctor? Maybe we should ask Mr. Watson for the address and go there early?"

Bianca was feeling uneasy and couldn't help but suggest, "James, maybe we should just go early and see if we can catch the doctor."

James, already frustrated with the doctor's high self-regard, snapped, "Bianca, you shouldn't have lied about that. Chase is your brother and he dotes on you. If you tell him the truth now, he'll understand."

Bianca panicked, realizing James was blaming her. She bit her lip, looking down, her voice trembling, "I'm sorry, James. I was selfish. I just didn't want to disappoint Chase and Aurora. I know Chase really likes Aurora. I'm sorry for making things difficult for you. It's my fault. I'll go tell Chase the truth. If he blames me, I can handle it."

Even though she said she could handle it, her voice was choked with tears, and she looked like she was about to collapse.

James instinctively supported her, "Sorry, I was too harsh. I'm not blaming you! You're so kind. I can't bear to see you break your promise to Chase. Let's go contact Mr. Watson and head over early."

Unfortunately, Joe, following Emily's instructions, wouldn't let them come early. He didn't give them a specific time, leaving them to wait anxiously, ordering takeout.

James, used to gourmet food, was irritated by the takeout. Finally, they got the message that the doctor was ready to see them. They drove to the location as soon as they got the address. It was a café across from where Emily had lunch.

Emily, not wanting to inconvenience Daniel, suggested, "Mr. Smith, I have someone to meet. I don't want to take up your time. Why don't you head back? I'll take a cab later."

Daniel didn't answer directly, instead asking, "Where are you staying?"

Emily told him the hotel name. Daniel nodded, "Alright, let's go. It's on the way. I have no plans today, so I'll wait for you."

Emily felt a bit embarrassed and wanted to refuse, but Daniel was already walking towards the café. His silent assertiveness left no room for refusal. Emily had no choice but to follow.

Daniel seemed to understand her thoughts. Once upstairs, he didn't sit with her but found a quiet corner to wait. Emily felt that Daniel was both safe and considerate. No wonder so many women wanted to marry him.

Shortly after she sat down, Bianca and James arrived in a hurry. Emily spotted them immediately and her smile grew wider. Soon, the waiter led them to Emily's table. Emily deliberately held the menu in front of her face, so they didn't see her at first.

"Hello, we're Bianca and James, recommended by Mr. Watson. Nice to meet you!" Bianca put on what she thought was a sweet and charming smile, greeting politely.

James also toned down his displeasure, "Hello, I'm James from the Smith Group."

"Does Mr. Smith know you're using the Smith Group's name?" Emily slowly lowered the menu, smiling mockingly.

Bianca and James's faces turned a myriad of colors, too stunned to respond to Emily's question.
