Chapter 102
Benjamin nodded slightly, his face showing little emotion.
For a moment, it was hard to tell whether he didn't care about Freya or if he already knew about this.
Seeing this, the others naturally didn't dare to keep asking.
But Evelyn was different. She scratched his palm with her fingers as he held her hand.
"That's it? Everyone's guessing that her brother is..."
Before she could finish, a gentle male voice rang out.
"Evelyn, you're here."
Everyone looked toward the voice and saw Matthew in a white suit.
On an ordinary person, such an outfit would look pretentious unless they were at a photo studio.
But on Matthew, it didn't feel that way at all. Instead, it made him look quite refined.
He walked up to Evelyn, a hint of helplessness flashing across his gentle features.
"Why are you still wandering around? We don't need to wait here; we can go to the VIP lounge."
How long had it been since she'd seen Matthew like this?
Since she became an adult?
Or since she confessed her feelings to him?
That Matthew, who used to be so gentle and kind to her, had turned cold.
Matthew stopped caring about anything related to her.
He even completely ignored her whenever something involved Sophia.
Scenes flashed through her mind, finally settling on the Matthew before her. She couldn't help but softly call out: "Brother..."
The hand holding hers suddenly caused a sharp pain, snapping her back to reality.
From the corner of her eye, she sensed Benjamin's handsome face, now extremely dark, radiating coldness.
Her other hand immediately wrapped around the back of his hand, and she leaned her full weight against him to prevent him from losing control and actually hurting her hand.
"I didn't say I was going with him. Why are you angry?"
Her soft voice, combined with slightly aggrieved eyes, made most of Benjamin's overflowing anger dissipate.
"My hand hurts."
Her pitiful voice left him with no anger at all.
Only heartache remained.
"Let me rub it for you." He looked down at her small hand in his palm.
Red marks had appeared on her pale hand - he had indeed used too much force.
His brows furrowed tightly, his eyes full of concern.
Benjamin and Evelyn's voices weren't loud, and they were close together, so those standing farther away couldn't hear what they were saying.
But from their interaction, anyone could see their intimate manner.
Matthew's eyes narrowed slightly, though his smile remained unchanged.
He seemed to only now notice Benjamin beside them: "Mr. White, you're here too. Are you seeing Evelyn off? Don't worry, Evelyn won't suffer any hardship with me."
Matthew's gentle manner made him look like a good brother.
That is, if Evelyn hadn't publicly confessed to Matthew, and if Matthew hadn't hurt her before.
Now...
Benjamin raised his arm around Evelyn, holding her in his embrace.
"No need, I'm not in the habit of letting others take care of my fiancée."
What a joke.
He used to think Evelyn would wait for him, that she'd peacefully study and go to school, waiting for him to achieve success in business before coming to find her.
Then out of nowhere came this so-called brother who loved her devotedly.
How could he dare let anyone else take care of Evelyn now?
Especially this Matthew, who was the first love branded on Evelyn's heart.
Matthew didn't seem upset at all, instead smiling: "It's good that Mr. White is personally taking care of Evelyn, but Evelyn agreed to take my private jet, so the dance company didn't book her a ticket. If she doesn't fly with us, I'm afraid it'll delay the schedule."
Evelyn's heart suddenly sank.
Back then, she never would have thought that the 'brother' Freya mentioned was Matthew.
Now she couldn't even think about how Matthew and Freya got mixed up together - her mind was full of how to explain this to Benjamin.
Just now, when she called Matthew 'brother,' Benjamin got so angry. If she actually took Matthew's arranged private jet, how angry would Benjamin be?
She wasn't afraid of Benjamin, but she couldn't bear to see him upset.
"It's fine, I can take the next flight." She immediately made her position clear.
"So you really agreed to take his private jet?"
Benjamin's low voice sounded in her ear. Evelyn shivered - was this really the point to focus on?
"I'll deal with you later."
His arm around her didn't loosen, his expression cold, even his voice lacking warmth.
"Just manage your own people, you don't need to manage mine."
As he spoke, his gaze swept over Freya standing beside Matthew.
She wore a simply cut but obviously expensive white dress that added elegance to her innocent features.
But after just one glance, he withdrew his gaze and moved to leave with Evelyn.
"Mr. White."
Matthew's voice remained unchanged, still gentle: "There have been misunderstandings between Evelyn and me, but we're still siblings after all..."
"What, your legs are better now, so you've forgotten everything that happened?"
Benjamin's single sentence cut off Matthew's words and caused a crack in his previously gentle expression.
During this time, he had barely shown his face, focusing on recovery.
All to stand up again and reclaim what belonged to him!
Now, having Benjamin bring up that dark period, thinking of Sophia's departure, Matthew could barely control his emotions.
He practically ground his teeth to get out his next words.
"Mr. White, even if you control the underworld forces, you can't just do whatever you want."
"The Thomas family may not compare to the White family, but we're not to be bullied at will either."
"I won't hold what happened before against you, but if you continue to be so stubborn, my parents won't let you off."
At the mention of Timothy and Hannah, both Benjamin and Evelyn frowned.
Timothy and Hannah had poured countless efforts into Matthew, treating him like their own son.
If they really had a conflict with Matthew, who knows how much worry Timothy and Hannah would have.
That would be a troublesome matter.
Seeing Benjamin's furrowed brow, Matthew continued.
"The plane is spacious enough, Evelyn won't suffer any hardship with me."
With that, he gently pushed Freya forward.
Freya immediately lifted her small face, smiling innocently.
"Benjamin, Ms. Thomas knew Matthew had arranged a private jet, so she didn't have Mr. Lopez book a ticket."
"With Matthew and me there, we'll definitely take good care of Ms. Thomas, so you don't need to worry."
"Besides, this flight is already sold out, so you can't buy tickets anyway."
"Buying tickets for another flight would affect the dance company's schedule."
Gregory and the others naturally didn't dare speak up.
Both sides were people he couldn't afford to offend - what could he say?
But... who was protecting Freya?
He couldn't figure it out.
However, the most conflicted person right now was Evelyn.
Taking Matthew's private jet would probably drive Benjamin crazy. Take him along, too?
Her eyes shifted slightly. Just as she was considering the feasibility of this, Benjamin spoke.
"You know all about the flight being full?"
Unless you were the last person to buy tickets, how would you know such details?
Not to mention, she had planned to take the private jet from the start.
It looked more like Freya and Matthew had planned this from the beginning.
