Chapter 299 Capturing an Important Figure
Chapter 302 Double Deal
The smell of blood still lingered in the villa's hall. A thin man sat on the sofa in front of Diana.
Diana had already pictured what Cody looked like now in her mind, but seeing him still gave her a shock.
The left side of Cody's face was completely burned, covered with wounds that hadn't healed yet.
He no longer had that polished look of a cruise manager. Instead, he looked especially disheveled, with waves of foul odor coming off him.
"Mr. Bailey, we meet again." Diana spoke coldly.
"It hasn't been that long, has it?" Cody lifted his head, his eyes staring at Diana with a sinister look. "How did you find me?"
Diana didn't answer. Instead, she asked back, "How did you survive? Mr. Bailey dodging torpedoes really impressed me."
Cody's eyes widened slightly, then he looked at Diana's neck. "I see. No wonder Mr. Spencer discovered the submarine too. So Hestia transferred the witch's power to you. That damned bitch would rather die herself than protect you? Why? Why?"
"If I hadn't protected her back then, she would've been eaten by someone already. Why does she only trust you? I'm her master. She should be loyal to me! She predicted early on that I would die in the submarine, yet she wouldn't help me, but she helped you?"
Looking at Cody's twisted face, Diana felt completely calm inside at this moment.
So that's how it was.
Cody had been using the witch's abilities from the start. He wanted all the benefits but still wanted to make money off Hestia, yet he didn't treat her well. How could she willingly let Cody imprison her for life?
Diana gripped the pendant at her chest, her eyes gradually filling with darkness. "Cody, you should know you're going to die."
"Impossible. I share life with the witch. I absolutely won't die!" After Cody finished speaking, he suddenly stood up. "No, impossible. Hestia is dead, you're this generation's witch. If you don't die, I won't die!"
"I'm not from the Hensley family." Diana looked up at Cody. "So you're going to die. But you could also not die."
"You mean you've mastered the witch's power and can keep me alive, is that it?" Cody tried to step forward but was pushed back by Luke with a baseball bat. "Sit down."
Cody ignored Luke's rudeness, his eyes fixed only on Diana. "Ms. Windsor, as long as you let me live, I'll do anything you want. You have Hestia's abilities now. You can definitely do it, right?"
"Then how do you prove you're valuable?" Diana tilted her head at him. "Cody, I know your boss includes Lachlan. Why don't we start by talking about him?"
Cody opened his mouth but couldn't get a word out for a long time.
He sat back down in a daze, trying to speak several times before finally giving up.
As Aya's manager, Cody naturally knew who he served, but he didn't dare say it.
Right now Cody was alive because Lachlan hadn't found him yet. If Lachlan found Cody, could Cody still survive?
If Lachlan knew he betrayed him, he could only wish for death.
Seeing this, Diana stood up. "In that case, I'll go find someone else. You should know Aya caught quite a few of your people. There must be a few managers willing to work with me, right?"
Diana pretended to leave. Cody quickly shouted, "No, Ms. Windsor, I can. I can tell you everything, but I have conditions."
"I can only guarantee you won't die." Diana didn't even turn her head, just waved her hand.
Cody gritted his teeth before finally making up his mind. "Fine. I can tell you about Lachlan, but I need to see treatment results first."
"Sure." Only then did Diana sit back down. "Luke, give him a shot of special anti-inflammatory medicine first. Don't worry, the hospital under Nicholas's name has the best doctors. Plus with me, a descendant of the York Family, we can definitely cure you."
That evening, neither Diana nor Nicholas returned to the villa. Instead, they stayed in a hotel suite.
After showering, Diana lay on the bed somewhat tired. "Two more days."
There were two days left until the time agreed upon with Lachlan. She didn't know what the outcome would be.
Nicholas sat at the computer working the whole time, his voice showing no panic. "That's enough."
"Nicholas, is what Cody said all true?" Diana got up from the bed, her big eyes fixed on Nicholas.
Nicholas smiled. "Half true, half false. The parts about Lachlan's company's vulnerabilities are all true. The parts Cody was involved in are all hidden. But this is enough."
Under Diana's threats and promises, Cody finally revealed the dark secrets behind Aya.
Since Lachlan developed the new medical treatment, he started adopting large numbers of orphans abroad and constantly used them for experiments. That's how he settled on the treatment method of transfusing young children's blood to patients.
When it was discovered in Phoenixia, the authorities kept cracking down, so he had no choice but to come to Novaria and get into the luxury cruise business.
It looked like a luxury cruise, but it was actually all illegal activities.
Most of Lachlan's company funds in Novaria came from Sawyer, and even many business deals were provided by the Spencer Corporation's overseas companies.
And to protect himself, Cody had collected quite a bit of evidence of Lachlan's crimes early on.
Diana would naturally keep her promise. Since Cody wanted to live, then he could painfully live in an asylum, suffering for the rest of his life.
Nicholas beckoned to Diana. Only then did Diana walk to the computer. Looking at the content on the screen, she asked in confusion, "What use is this?"
"These are all of Horizon Healthcare's violations over the years, plus some illegal experiments. Lachlan has over a dozen orphans under his name, but these children haven't attended school according to local regulations, and they have no medical records." Nicholas's voice was somewhat heavy. "My overseas company has already started attacking Horizon Healthcare. Tomorrow their stock price will definitely hit the limit down."
Nicholas's lips curved in a cold smile. "Just based on these horrible things he's done, I believe Novaria's various departments won't let him off either."
"Will it affect your grandfather and your company's reputation?" Diana asked quietly.
After all, Lachlan was Nicholas's uncle. Once Lachlan was held accountable, the Spencer Corporation would probably be implicated too.
Nicholas held her tightly. After a long while, he said, "When Grandfather spared him back then and kept supporting him all these years, he should have thought of the consequences."
"Grandfather is the chairman of the Spencer Corporation, but that doesn't mean everything he did was right. Since he wanted Lachlan to live, then some consequences are what Grandfather should face."
Diana wrapped her arms around Nicholas's neck, burying her head in his neck. "Nicholas, don't be angry. Once we catch Lachlan, we'll definitely be able to save your grandfather."
She knew Nicholas had depended on Sawyer since childhood. But learning that Sawyer, to keep his illegitimate son Lachlan alive, covered up the fact that Lachlan killed Nicholas's parents Seraphina and Clarence—how could Nicholas accept that?
Diana gently kissed Nicholas's lips, her voice becoming hoarse. "Nicholas, you still have me. I'll always be with you, for the rest of my life."
