Chapter 297 Catching Mice
Chapter 298 Meeting Alone
At midnight, the pharmaceutical factory's alarm system let out a piercing wail, shattering the silence of the night.
On the surveillance footage, several blurry figures moved through the darkness, their movements skilled and agile.
"Damn it, didn't you say you'd blocked the signal?" one of the men cursed under his breath.
Another person explained quietly, "How was I supposed to know this thing wouldn't work? Can't trust stuff bought online!"
"Both of you shut up. Getting the Dawnveil Clover is all that matters. Let's go." The shortest man among them said in a low voice.
Diana watched their movements on the computer screen, a cold smile playing at her lips. "Idiots."
The Dawnveil Clover they were taking was specially prepared by Diana for them—herbs soaked in high-purity poison.
These people were in such a rush to leave after hearing the alarm, they had no time to check the herbs' composition.
The group moved quickly, skillfully avoiding the positions of the factory's original cameras.
But what they didn't know was that Clio had already adjusted the angles of the micro cameras, and their every move was being monitored.
The three men left through the back door, got into an unremarkable small truck, and drove away from the factory.
Diana looked at the flashing computer screen in front of her. "This red dot is their location?"
"That's right. None of their phones have protection systems, so the virus went straight in." Clio's fingers tapped the keyboard, making light sounds. "With this level of skill, they dare to commit international crimes? What idiots."
"I also planted a self-destruct device. When the time comes, all the apps will run simultaneously, the phone temperature will keep rising, and when it reaches a certain point!"
She made an exaggerated explosion gesture, then smiled ingratiatingly. "All their phones will become small bombs. It's a virus I just developed. Pretty good, right?"
"Raise your salary." Diana nodded with satisfaction.
Diana felt that in this life, besides getting revenge, the thing that made her happiest was finding such a capable hacker as Clio.
Her phone started vibrating. Seeing it was an unknown number from abroad, Diana immediately answered, her tone carrying some anxiety. "Mr. Spencer? What's wrong with the medicine you gave me? Why has my grandmother's condition gotten worse!"
Watching Diana's slightly exaggerated acting, Clio sighed helplessly. The other party better be an idiot, or this would be easily exposed.
But fortunately, the other party really was an idiot.
Lachlan, thinking all his plans had succeeded, never imagined Diana wouldn't give Thalia the medicine.
Lachlan asked cheerfully, "What's wrong? What happened? Sorry, there's nothing wrong with the medicine I gave you. At most, it's conflicting with some other medicine in your grandmother's system."
Hearing his laughter, Diana rolled her eyes, but her tone remained fierce. "Lachlan, do you think I can't do anything to you? You must have an antidote. Hand it over!"
"Ms. Windsor, when asking for help, you should act like it. You're not cute at all like this." Lachlan let out a long breath. "You're right, I do have an antidote. I can easily help your grandmother recover. But why should I give you the antidote?"
"I already sent you the special medicine in advance. Ms. Windsor, shouldn't you keep your promise too?"
His voice suddenly became extremely cold. "Thalia's condition isn't good. She's not young anymore and can't hold on much longer. Diana, think carefully!"
Diana clenched her fists, her expression particularly cold.
After more than ten seconds, Diana finally said, "Fine, but I need to make sure your antidote works."
"Besides trusting me, do you have any other options? The York Family's acupuncture method can't save her." Lachlan seemed to be in a good mood, his tone becoming more cheerful. "In one hour, we'll meet at the port. Bring the documents. Come alone. If I find a second person, the deal is off."
Lachlan quickly hung up and then sent the specific location of the port.
Seeing it was Port No. 1 again, Diana's expression grew even darker.
Clio had already investigated Lachlan's situation thoroughly. He was indeed an expert in pharmacology and had received many honors over the years.
Over these years, with the support of the Spencer family's overseas assets, Horizon Healthcare had established factories in three countries and had considerable influence.
If they got control of the cancer special medicine, Lachlan's international status would likely rise even further.
At that point, it wouldn't be easy for Diana to deal with him.
Diana hesitated for a moment before standing up. "Clio, keep tracking their location."
"Boss, are you going to the exchange alone? Absolutely not!" Boomer was the first to stand up. "Boss, you're his target. If he catches you, why would he need to catch anyone else?"
Slim didn't speak but kept nodding.
Only Clio remained seated, continuing to track the signal. "I already told Mr. Spencer about this. He said he'll come pick you up in fifteen minutes."
"Clio!" Diana looked at Clio in disbelief. "Who exactly are you working for?"
"You, of course." Clio turned her head and blinked. "But Mr. Spencer pays too much, really a lot."
Clio waved her phone. "Can't help it, I really love money. Anyway, you're family, so I'll consider it a buy-one-get-one-free deal."
Diana waited in the villa for over ten minutes feeling frustrated. When she saw Nicholas appear before her, she still couldn't help it—her eyes reddened. "Nicholas, Gemma? What are you doing?"
Diana had originally wanted to ask about Nicholas's condition, but then she saw Gemma following behind him.
Wearing a white dress, sun hat, and sun-protection mask, carrying a parasol, this appearance was sixty to seventy percent similar to Diana.
Gemma removed her mask, seeming somewhat disdainful of her outfit. "Since we need to make the exchange, it's much safer for me to go alone than for you to go alone."
"Gemma, you're going? No way. How can I let you do something so dangerous?" Diana kept shaking her head.
But Gemma put the mask back on. "I'm Diana now. I can't drive, so Mr. Spencer should drive me there."
"Let's go." Nicholas put his arm around Diana's shoulder. "We'll be tracking and monitoring the whole time. I swear nothing will happen."
His voice was still somewhat weak. Having just woken up, Nicholas felt dizzy and lightheaded.
Fortunately, his physical condition was good, and he could stay conscious for now.
Diana thought for a moment, then finally shook her head. "Let Bruce drive. You shouldn't drive."
She knew that no matter how much she struggled, it would be futile. In the end, they would have Gemma replace her. Diana could only follow these people and try her best to make sure nothing happened to Gemma.
The group arrived at the port. Gemma went alone to the designated restaurant and sat in the seat closest to the window.
Diana remained on edge the whole time, afraid something would go wrong.
"Diana, don't worry. Gemma is very capable." Nicholas held Diana's hand, but Diana's muscles tensed up again.
Diana felt waves of dizziness, and images appeared before her eyes once more.
