Chapter 363 Marry Him

Chapter 363 Marry Him

After finishing her shower, Daniela went straight to her bedroom.

Quinley knocked on the door, and Daniela thought it was Martha.

"I already said I'm not hungry and don't want to eat."

Daniela's impatient voice came through the door crack. A smile tugged at the corner of Quinley's mouth.

"Daniela, it's me."

Quinley gently knocked on the door again.

"Mrs. Jennings, did you need something?"

Daniela quickly pulled the door open. She was wearing a loose black short-sleeved shirt that made her look even thinner.

"Can I come in and chat with you for a bit?"

Quinley said with a smile.

Daniela nodded and let Quinley in.

There was only one chair in her bedroom, and the bed was a bit messy. Daniela hurriedly tidied up.

"It's okay, just sit down."

Quinley urged.

Daniela grabbed the clothes that were scattered around, bunched them together, and stuffed them into the nearby closet.

"Mrs. Jennings, go ahead."

Daniela sat down stiffly on the edge of the bed.

"I came to talk to you about you and Oliver."

As soon as Quinley started speaking, Daniela froze. Two blushes appeared on her cheeks, and she looked away, lowering her eyelids.

Quinley reached out and placed her hand on Daniela's. "You know what Oliver's situation is right now. He wasn't there when William passed away, and Emily and Landon are in prison now. Mr. Jennings and I have to worry about him more. I know Oliver really likes you, Daniela. I want to know what you think?"

Quinley asked very directly. Daniela clasped her hands together in front of her, constantly picking at her fingers.

She lowered her head even more.

What did she think? What could she think?

If she said she didn't like him, she seemed to think about him often. When he was around, she felt strangely at ease.

But if she said she liked him, she always felt something was missing.

At the end of the day, she lacked love so much that she had forgotten how to love and be loved, and didn't dare easily accept someone else's love.

"I... don't know."

After a long while, Daniela mumbled these words.

Her father had left when she was still in swaddling clothes. During her long growing-up years, although her mother was there, she was busy making a living and didn't give her calm and caring attention.

So now, she was very conflicted.

"You know, Daniela, if I'm not wrong, you should like Oliver too. It's just that you have concerns, you're afraid to accept it, afraid of losing. But Daniela, if people always live in the shadow of the past and are afraid to take that step forward, how can things ever change?"

Daniela didn't say anything.

Change was just too hard. She didn't have that courage.

If she didn't have it, at least she wouldn't have to experience losing it.

Seeing Daniela's hesitation, Quinley didn't continue to push her.

She got up and walked out. "Daniela, think it over slowly. Zachary and I both hope you can be happy. Oliver is someone worth trusting."

Third floor terrace.

Oliver had just escaped from Riley's "clutches."

Riley had somehow learned about riding horseback and insisted that Oliver be her horse. The spoiled child couldn't handle being refused.

So Oliver agreed to Riley's request. Who knew that once Riley got on the "horse," she made Oliver run several laps around the house.

This wore Oliver out completely. At this moment, he came up panting, looking for Zachary to complain.

"No way, you need to control your daughter. She can't bear to tire you, her dad, but she's about to wear me out as her uncle."

Zachary was leaning back in a lounge chair, arms pillowed behind his head, looking completely relaxed.

"My daughter is meant to be spoiled. If you don't like it, have one yourself."

Oliver was left speechless. He wanted to, but how could he have one by himself?

He slumped down in another lounge chair. Just as he was about to catch his breath, Zachary started questioning him again.

"How are things with Daniela? Any progress? When can we attend your wedding?"

Three questions in a row left Oliver speechless.

"No progress." He told the truth.

Zachary's brows furrowed. He didn't care about other people's love lives, but he was Oliver's big brother, so he had to worry.

"Didn't you buy a ring? Why haven't you given it yet?"

"Forget it. Things are fine now. If I give it and get rejected, we won't even be able to be friends anymore."

Oliver said somewhat dejectedly.

Zachary let out a long breath. "Do you only want to be friends with her?"

"Of course not."

"If not, then hurry up and give it. Otherwise, I'm going to set her up on blind dates."

Oliver knew that Zachary had countless young talents around him. If Zachary interfered with Daniela's love life, what would that have to do with him?

"Don't. Daniela is the person I like. I won't marry anyone but her in this lifetime."

"You're sure?"

"Sure."

Oliver said firmly.

Zachary's eyes darkened. He stood up. "I'm giving you twenty-four hours. If you still haven't taken action, then I'm going to arrange blind dates for Daniela. You'll regret it then."

With that, he got up and walked down from the terrace on his long legs.

Oliver leaned back in the lounge chair, his mind now in complete chaos.

Should he propose directly with the ring? The custom-made ring had arrived, and he'd been carrying it with him.

But what if she rejected him? He knew Daniela's personality. She would definitely find ways to keep him at a distance.

In the master bedroom on the second floor.

Quinley was sitting at her vanity doing her skincare routine when Zachary walked in.

"What's the situation on your end?"

Quinley asked.

Zachary didn't speak. He just waved his phone, then pressed the play button.

Only then did Quinley realize that this old fox Zachary had recorded audio.

"...Daniela is the person I like. I won't marry anyone but her in this lifetime..."

Oliver's voice came through.

"I'll send you this audio clip. Forward it to Daniela. These two are dragging their feet too much. If no one pushes them, I don't think they'll ever make progress."

Quinley laughed. "So you're going to be the bad guy?"

"If I have to, I have to. Tomorrow, go along with my plan."

Zachary leaned close to Quinley's ear and told her the plan he'd set up.

Quinley sent that audio clip to Daniela.

Daniela didn't reply with a single word.

The next morning, Zachary left early for the office.

Oliver got up twenty minutes later than usual and happened to run into Daniela.

For some reason, when Daniela saw him, she quickly dodged back into her room.

He was confused. Last night, his relationship with Daniela seemed to have made progress, but today, they seemed to be back at freezing point.

"Daniela, why are you avoiding me?"

Oliver sent a message to Daniela. Surprisingly, he discovered that Daniela had blocked him on WhatsApp.

In that instant, he felt like someone had poured cold water over his head.

His instinct was to rush over and demand answers from Daniela, so he quickly walked toward the bedroom on the first floor.

"Daniela, come out for a moment. I need to ask you something."

Oliver knocked on the door loudly.

However, there was no response from inside.

"Mr. Oliver, you haven't had breakfast yet, have you? I'll go get you some porridge."

Hearing the noise, Martha poked her head out from the kitchen.

Although Oliver was emotional, he tried hard to control himself. "No need, Martha. I'll eat at the office."

He quickly left.

"What's going on between you and Mr. Oliver? Did you two have a fight?"

When Daniela came out again, Martha cornered her in the kitchen.

Daniela had huge dark circles under her eyes and looked extremely annoyed. "Mom, just stop asking, okay?"

"I'm your mother, why can't I ask? What's really going on with you two? Daniela, can you please stop being so difficult?"

Following her usual pattern, Martha started lecturing Daniela again.

She covered her ears and quickly ran out.

At the breakfast table, only Quinley and Martha were there.

"Sigh, Daniela was so well-behaved when she was little, but after growing up, she talks back to me at every turn. Maybe I'm just old and useless, and she finds me annoying."

Martha said to herself.

Quinley quickly comforted her. "Martha, give Daniela some time. I believe she'll make the right choice."

Daniela ran out of Maple Estate. She found a spot at Riverwalk and sat there all day.

That audio clip had stirred up a storm in her heart.

Growing up, all Martha had taught her was not to trust men. But now, there was a man saying he wouldn't marry anyone but her.

She was deeply shaken, but she didn't dare believe it.

She was torn, in pain, not knowing how to face Oliver. So the only solution she could think of was to avoid him.

That evening, both Oliver and Daniela were absent from dinner.

"What's going on with them?"

After a busy day, Zachary saw this situation and quietly asked Quinley.

"I don't know. They both seem pretty unhappy."

Quinley answered in a low voice.

She also knew about Oliver knocking on Daniela's door that morning.

Halfway through the meal, Zachary sent Oliver a message.

"There are two and a half hours left until the deadline I set yesterday. Have you figured out what to do?"

When it came to relationships, it was better for the man to take the initiative.

Oliver didn't respond.

He didn't know how to respond.

Seeing both of them acting like cowards, Zachary immediately switched into work mode.

"I'll call Daniela, you call Oliver. I don't believe we can't handle these two."

After saying this, Zachary immediately called Daniela.

"Where are you?"

The call connected quickly, and Zachary's voice came through the phone line to Daniela's ears.

"Riverwalk. Mr. Jennings, is something wrong?"

"Actually, yes." Zachary's tone was still cold.

Hearing there was something, Daniela immediately went into work mode. "Mr. Jennings, I'll come back right away."

"No rush. I'm sending you an address now. Go meet someone there."

Zachary said, sending over a restaurant address.

Not asking questions, just obeying—that had always been Daniela's work attitude.

She agreed and immediately used GPS navigation to take a taxi there.

Quinley also contacted Oliver, who was still working overtime at the office.

"Quinley, what's up?"

"You're still working this late? Have you eaten?" Quinley asked gently.

"Not yet."

"I'm sending you a location now. Go have dinner with someone."

Quinley said.

"Is it Daniela? She probably doesn't want to see me."

"No."

Quinley said with certainty.

"Oh."

That "oh" seemed full of disappointment.

Half an hour later, Daniela appeared at San Jose Restaurant.

Following Zachary's instructions, she went to meet someone named Barry.

"Ms. Daniela."

Barry recognized Daniela at a glance. He was tall, handsome, and polite, standing up and waving to her.

She walked over with a puzzled look.

"Mr. Jennings said you haven't been in a good mood lately, so he asked me to invite you to dinner. Please don't misunderstand—I don't have any ulterior motives. I used to work at Apex Global Group too, same type of work as you, so just think of me as an old colleague."

Barry was refined and courteous. Daniela relaxed her guard a little.

Barry was very gentlemanly, showing care for Daniela at every turn.

Less than ten minutes after Daniela went in, Oliver also arrived.

"Mr. Oliver, I'm Mary."

A blonde young woman enthusiastically waved at Oliver. Before he could get close, she walked straight toward him and naturally took his arm.

"Don't misunderstand. I'm just following Mr. Jennings' instructions to have dinner with you."

Oliver was passively led by Mary's arm as they walked inside. He never expected that their table would be right next to Daniela's.

From his angle, he could see Daniela perfectly, and naturally, Daniela only needed to look up to see him.

A young woman sat across from him, and a talented young man sat across from her.

Barry kept finding topics to chat with Daniela. She didn't say much. Whether because she was distracted or not, she got cream on the corner of her mouth.

Barry naturally wiped it off with a napkin before Daniela could dodge.

Oliver's eyes nearly popped out.

He really hadn't expected Daniela to start going on blind dates.

"Mr. Oliver, the steak here is really good. Try it."

Before Mary finished speaking, she used her fork to pick up a piece of steak and brought it to Oliver's mouth. She winked at him. Oliver didn't understand why.

Over there, Barry stood up, took Daniela's plate, and carefully cut the steak into small pieces with his own knife and fork.

They were speaking in low voices. Oliver couldn't hear clearly, but his head was buzzing.

"Mr. Oliver, have another piece of steak. Let me feed you."

Mary forked another piece of steak toward Oliver's mouth, but he moved away.

"I'm sorry," he said to Mary.

There was never a shortage of beautiful women in this world, but the only one who could move his heart, from beginning to end, was Daniela.

"Daniela."

Oliver stood up and called out, then strode toward her.

He quickly pulled the ring from his pocket and knelt down on one knee.

"Daniela, I know this is very sudden, and I might lose you as a friend, but from the beginning, you knew I didn't just want to be your friend. I love you, more than my own life. I want to marry you, I want to have children with you. Every beautiful thing I can imagine involves you."

"I know I'm not your type, but please rest assured, I will work twice as hard. I won't let you down. I'm afraid that doing this is forcing you, but Daniela, more than forcing you, I'm afraid of losing you."

"The road ahead is long. I know you don't have confidence in me, but Daniela, let's walk it together slowly. I'll be a reliable man. Don't worry, I'll definitely live longer than you and die later than you. As long as I have one breath left, I won't leave you. I'll definitely take care of you."

He spoke passionate words of love, tears gathering in his eyes.

Tears also slid down Daniela's face.

"Say yes, say yes, say yes..."

Mary stood up, clapping and calling out.

Barry also stood up, clapping and joining in. "Marry him, marry him, marry him..."

"Be my girlfriend, be my wife, Daniela, I love you."

Oliver declared his love loudly.

In this moment, he forgot all the rules and restrictions, just wanting to lay his burning heart bare before Daniela.

Just then, she stood up, walked toward Oliver, and slowly extended her hand to him.

"If you ever dare run away, I'll find you and kill you."

Oliver was so excited he forgot to put the ring on Daniela's finger and pulled her into his arms.
