Chapter 349 Looking for Daniela
Chapter 349 Looking for Daniela
"Go meet someone tomorrow."
Zachary said on the other end of the phone.
Oliver was anxious to find Daniela and asked in confusion, "Who?"
Zachary let out a harsh cold laugh, speaking in his usual tone, "You'll find out when you get there."
Finally, not giving Oliver a chance to ask more questions, he hung up and sent him the address.
That night, Oliver went through another long sleepless night.
Daniela's words started echoing in his ears again, "You can't even protect yourself. Do you want me to be your bodyguard?"
Those words were like a thorn, stabbing hard at his heart.
As a six-foot-tall man, he didn't know how to fight, and he really couldn't hold his head up in front of Daniela.
She didn't care about his artistic side at all.
So how could he win her heart?
The more he thought about it, the less he could sleep. The less he could sleep, the more he thought about it.
As soon as dawn broke, Oliver got out of bed.
He didn't really know what to do, he just felt he couldn't keep lying there.
So he changed into workout clothes and went straight out to run on the street.
After running less than a kilometer, he was already gasping for breath. Every step forward made his whole body feel terrible.
He had originally planned to run five kilometers, but halfway through, he really couldn't go on anymore and just sat down on the roadside to catch his breath.
Not only was he bad at fighting, he also didn't like exercise. His good physique was all thanks to strong genes and healthy eating habits.
Around him, Zachary was great at fighting, Lucas was even more skilled, and even his rookie brother Landon at least knew some boxing.
But he didn't know anything.
He looked up at the sky, feeling that dawn was particularly harsh that day.
After sitting like this for about ten minutes, when he stood up, his legs felt like they were falling apart and didn't feel like his own anymore.
He dragged his legs and limped back to his place, took a shower, changed into clean clothes, and then went out.
At nine-thirty in the morning, he arrived at the location Zachary had specified to meet someone he knew nothing about.
At that time, Oliver still had a bit of hope that maybe, out of kindness, Zachary would have Daniela come meet him directly.
But he had overestimated Zachary's kindness.
He never expected that the person coming to meet him would be a boxing coach.
"No, no, no, coach, I can't do this. I really don't know anything."
When Oliver understood Zachary's intention, he shook his head like a rattle drum.
He was already twenty-seven years old. The thought of starting to learn boxing from scratch, thinking about how brutal this bloody sport was, made him resist with everything he had.
"Mr. Oliver, you can't refuse me. Mr. Jennings said if you can't beat me, you can't go after Daniela."
So Oliver had no choice but to follow the coach back.
But what he didn't expect was that the hole Zachary had dug for him went far beyond this.
When he arrived at the training facility, he discovered his personal belongings had already been sent over. He was told this would be a three-month closed training period.
"No, I have things to do. I can't be held up this long."
Oliver resisted even more strongly, but the muscular coach picked Oliver up like a little chicken and brought him back.
"Mr. Oliver, I told you, beat me and you can leave. Otherwise, after three months, you'll enter another three months."
Just how brutal these three months were for Oliver, he never wanted to mention to anyone.
Three months later, in the octagon, he used his own fists to knock the coach down.
The first thing he did after coming down from the octagon was call Zachary.
"Where is Daniela? I want to see her."
Zachary had already watched the match through video. He was satisfied with Oliver's performance.
"Rosewood City. Come back."
"You're not going to trick me again, are you?" Oliver was a bit afraid to believe it.
Just like before, Zachary didn't offer any explanation. He just chose to hang up the phone.
The next day, Oliver flew back to Rosewood City from Singapore.
At the airport, Lucas drove to pick him up.
When he saw Oliver, Lucas was shocked.
"Mr. Oliver, all these injuries..."
But Oliver didn't care.
The person who had always been afraid of blood and injuries now acted like they didn't exist.
"Where's Daniela?"
He asked again.
"Following Mr. Jennings' instructions, you should go back to Maple Estate first."
Lucas avoided the topic.
Oliver asked again, "Where is Daniela?"
During these three months of brutal training, he had transformed from a boxing novice to a skilled fighter, driven by his desire to see Daniela.
He didn't want to be a rookie in Daniela's eyes, and he didn't want to hide behind Daniela like a coward.
So he could only push himself to become strong. Only by being strong could he protect the woman he wanted to protect.
"You'll find out when we get there."
However, when Oliver arrived at Maple Estate, he didn't find Daniela.
Not only did he not find Daniela, he also discovered Martha wasn't there either.
"Where is everyone? Where did they go?"
Oliver's emotions became restless and anxious.
"Uncle, where have you been all this time?"
Riley ran up to Oliver on her short little legs, pouting and asking in a sweet childlike voice.
Oliver's furrowed brow relaxed the moment he saw Riley.
"Little Riley, I had something to do. I went on a business trip."
Oliver squatted down and opened his arms, wanting to hug little Riley.
After more than three months, she had grown quite a bit.
Little Riley dodged away with a look of disdain. "I don't hug liars."
As she spoke, she pulled at her eyes with both hands, made a big face at Oliver, and then ran off.
She held grudges.
Before Oliver left, he had promised to take her to the amusement park, but he broke his promise.
He broke his promise, and she still remembered.
"Martha and Daniela went back to their hometown. They'll be back in a while."
Quinley gave Oliver an answer.
She meant for Oliver to wait patiently.
"Where is Martha's hometown? Quinley, please tell me. I want to go find them now."
Everyone in the Jennings family was unusual.
Zachary was cold yet devoted, Landon was romantic yet unfaithful, and Oliver seemed infatuated yet constant.
Quinley gave Oliver the address. He didn't wait a single minute and headed straight for Martha's hometown.
It was a small town, nearly a thousand miles from Rosewood City.
But this didn't seem to matter to Oliver. When you want to see someone, even the ends of the earth feel close.
After driving for about ten hours, Oliver finally reached the small town where Martha lived.
"Excuse me, do you know Mrs. Martha?"
He bought some water at the only store in the small town and asked.
The shopkeeper was a middle-aged woman with a fat waist and a somewhat dull look in her eyes.
"Martha?"
The woman spoke, her voice slightly hoarse, and pointed toward some brick buildings in the distance.
"She lives over there."
The town wasn't big, and there were few people around. Oliver walked in the direction the woman pointed.
It was already afternoon when he arrived. The sky was gray and overcast, looking like it might rain.
Soon, he reached the brick buildings.
"Where does Martha live?"
He ran into an old man with a white beard at the intersection and went up to ask.
The old man blinked his cloudy eyes and stared at Oliver for a long time.
Oliver repeated himself and handed the old man a bottle of the water he'd bought at the store.
With trembling hands, the old man pointed to the innermost building.
It was also the most run-down one around.
Before Doris died, Martha got married and lived in the town with her husband.
After Doris died, Martha's husband apparently got sick and died. Martha went to seek refuge with the Jennings family all alone, and Zachary had kept her by his side ever since.
Oliver didn't know much about these details. He only vaguely knew a bit about the relationships.
As for Daniela, he only learned later about her relationship with Martha.
"Martha."
Oliver stood in front of the building and knocked on the rusty iron gate.
There was no sound from inside for a long time. He stood outside waiting for a while, so he knocked louder.
After a long time, an elderly voice came from inside.
"Who is it?"
Oliver found it unfamiliar. "My name is Oliver Jennings. I'm looking for Martha."
As he finished speaking, footsteps approached, and then the iron gate opened a crack, revealing an old person with sparse hair.
"She doesn't live here anymore. Go away."
The old person finished speaking and was about to close the iron gate.
Oliver immediately grabbed it. "She doesn't live here anymore? Where does she live?"
"Go find her at the hospital. She's dying. Why would she stay here?"
Oliver couldn't believe his ears.
"What? What did you say?"
But the other person didn't answer him. Instead, they forcefully closed the iron gate, shutting Oliver out.
